  • Im glad its working out for you but as others have touched on, any weight loss that occurs is almost always because of a calrie deficit. Thats great - dont get me wrong, but removing a food group completely isnt exactly appealing to most. How much meat, eggs and avocados can one eat? It gets boring, IMO, just like a diet…
  • I havent been able to get better than $24.99 for a box of 12. Even my local grocery store sells them for that. Vitacost sends me coupons and then I can get like 10% or 12% off and that helps. Otherwsie though...they seem to be like Nike shoes or Levi jeans and are price "fixed".
  • Agreed. Haters gonna hate. Ironically I lost 100 lbs and have stayed about where I need to be for over a year now. id NEVER go back. IMO its easier to stay here than to get here ;)
  • If you are really doing all of that and arent losing weight...you must be eating a LOT of food!
  • Sure - 30 mins of fairly rigorous running is a great calorie burn. Thats what helped me lose a bunch fo weight. But, you cant "outrun jelly doughnuts" so a solid diet is also important.
  • IMO - and this isnt based on science: I have my biggest carb intake in the morning. I eat pancakes almost every day for breakfast. Then, as the day goes on, I reduce the carb intake. My total carb intake is around 200g-225g. Im active and this works for me. In my own experience, cutting carbs too much does NOT work and is…
  • It sounds like diet-wise you are eating the right foods as far as iron content go. I read that calcium intake with iron intake is important since they work "together". I suppose its possible that your body is simply having trouble absorbing iron or there is something else/other condition "leeching" the iron from your body…
  • 30 grams of carbs? for an active person? Wow. Best of luck. Thats absurd, IMO. No way thats healthy long-term. Keep an eye on how you feel, for sure. I was doing about 150g to175g of carbs a day and that was too LITTLE being as activ as I am. My thyroid and T-levels got messed up. I added carbs(mostly good carbs of course)…
  • Nope - Mickey D's coffee is my fav! :)
  • I stick with the ones that do NOT use Sucralose which means the choices are limited. Starwberry cheesecake, cinnamon roll, and I believe chocolate chunk use Erythritol & stevia. They are all "decent". I dont expect a fairly healthy protein bar with solid numbers to taste like a snickers bar. Neither should anyone else.…
  • I agree - my core is very strong but my 44 year old body just doesnt want to go below 15% bodyfat and unless I go on some starvation diet Ill never get there. I say 6-packs are also a genetic thing. Some of us are blessed and some of us are cursed. Thats the truth. :(

  • I just use some general guidelines/websites using my weight, speed and distance covered & then go with the LOWEST calorie burn amount listed. Or, Ill take whatever fitness pal says I burned and deduct 15% to 20% OFF from it. This ensures Im likely UNDER what I actually burned which IMO is the right way to log exercise.
  • There is some good advice here but lets be honest: Weighing/measutring all of your food for every meal, every day is a bonafide pain in the *kitten*. Its extremely hard to do that if you like...have a job and stuff like that. You have to pre-prep/cook/store every meal, have food scales and measuring devices at various…
  • I agree - I drink about 80-100 ounces of water everyday plus my tea and coffee. I start the morning and day drinking heavily and then calm it down by early evening so I dont pee all night. I believe its helped my weight loss and overall health. Im NEVER thirsty, even after cardio or whatever.
  • Pancakes made with quality flours. I have these basically everyday for breakfast and they give me energy and a nice carb boost for the day. Top with *reasonably* healthy choices like natural nut butters, no-added-sugar fruit toppings or good old molasse/maple syrup. If you are an active person you CAN eat carbs and enjoy…
  • Wish I could come out and play too. But - I lost a bunch of weight and my belly area is sadly covered with loose skin that will never go away without surgery or some cosmetic procedure. Sooooooo PISSED because my body fat is pretty low overall and Im lean and vascular everywhere. Except for the !@#$%^ loose skin BS. UGH!…
  • Ditto to this. I lost a ton of weight but also lost too much muscle in the proces and I had the dreaded "marathon-runner-sickly" look. Hated it. Ive been lifting weights regularly for a while now and have added a good 10-12 lbs of mostly muscle back. I look and feel much better. The key is to NOT overdo the cardio! The…
  • IMO, a decent balance of some simple carbs, complex carbs and whatever else should be fine. Dont overthink it.
  • Why are you trying to avoid fat? Just curious. Research(modern) has shown that eating fats ends up being good for you in the grand scheme of things. Low fat and reduced fat products are often loaded with extra sugar, sodium and chemicals which are far worse for you thsan eating healthier fats. Quality meats, nuts, oils,…
  • Mega dittos on it being individual. I was going too low-carb for a while and since Ive switched to a more reasonable amount of carbs (from 100g-150g per day to 200g-250g per day) I feel and perform better overall. Its easy to get sucked into all of the "carb-hating" out there these days but I think most people find that…
  • Pancakes every day, basically. All different mixes and home made batches. I stick with whole wheat or out flour based cakes & sometimes protein-based but its pancakes for me daily. I love them and they give me a good carb boost in the morning which my body likes. For toppings, I stay with butter & some type of…
  • May I also remind people that if you've lost a lot of weight like I have, you'll be plagued with excess skin in these areas that will never go away completely unless you have surgery or whatever. Sucks, but thats the pirce we pay for being fat in the first place. :(
  • Its good to see more women doing good old strength training. Its very good for their body composition and IMO a well built female with some "meat" on her bones is 1000% more attractive looking than a marathon-runner rail. ;)
  • Very, very difficult. One requires a calrie deficit and one requires a surplus. I suppose you could slooooowly do both but no way you'll be able to quickly do both. I personally found it easier to just lose the weight I needed to lose and then slowly add back muscle. Everyone is different though. Gotta hit the weights hard…
  • Nope - its an angel sent from above to make us happy. The natural types are "better" as far as just having nuts in them even though the cals and fat counts are the same. Nut butters are !@#$%^ awesome and I suck them down everyday with no ill effects.
  • You'll acquire the taste for 85% and then you are good to go. Trader Joes has some ridiculously awesome 85% bars that are cheap too. I eat them like....candy. :) No problems, just dont hork down 2-3 bars a day.
  • Its not as easy as you'd think. eating lots of mostly good fats helps a lot since fat is so calorie dense. I have a hard time with this too though. As others have touched on, you need to just "eat" and partially forget the "clean" thing for a while. Clean eating is over-rated anyways - just avoid nasty processed crap and…
  • Ive been eating pancakes every day for breakfast for months now. All different kinds. Loving every minute of it and wont be stopping anytime soon. hehehehehe :)
  • I use it to make home made buttermilk for pancake recipes. Its basically: 1 & 1/2 tablespoons of Cider Vinegar for every cup of milk. I use unsweetened almond or cashew milk and add the vinegar to it in a bowl. let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Comes out great! :)
  • I can confidently state that having even a couple(thats TWO, not FOUR ;) ) beers a day will NOT harm anyones diet provided you are staying within calorie goals and macro targets. How do I know? Ive been experimenting with beer over the last few months and my overall diet and workout schedule stays the same week to week.…
