  • I put in Active, as suggested, and 1.5 lbs expected. I'm not using MFP to track exercise as I have my fitbit. Looks a bit more accurate now I think... thank you everyone, just trying to get used to this... Still has me losing over 2.5 lbs a week, Now I'm wondering how many calories it says you burn at "Active"... this is…
  • Your Suggested Fitness and Nutrition Goals Congratulations! Your personalized diet and fitness profile is now complete. Based on your answers, here are your suggested nutrition and fitness goals. Nutritional goals Target Net Calories Consumed* / Day 1,820 Calories / Day Carbs / Day 228.0 g Fat / Day 61.0 g Protein / Day…
  • 3100-3400 calories from fitbit tracker, activity setting was light and rate of loss was 1 lb.
  • Even if I'm eating more than I think, how come I'm supposed to eat 1750 calories by myfitnesspal and I burn over 3000 (fitbit/calculations)? That's a 1250 deficit per day not including any exercise! I do have it set to 1 lb a week loss.
  • So no one actually answered my question.... why am I supposed to eat 1750 calories a day when I burn over 3000? I meant to ask it in my original post.
  • When I've seen that flow chart before I get stuck on the hypothyroidism part. I have Hashimoto's. I've read so many stories of people losing weight having the condition, many of them eat different diets, Paleo, keto, etc. the only diet restriction I have is no gluten.
  • Do you have any food sensitivities? I feel better being gluten free, I have Hashimoto's.
  • AFAIK it's a side effect of certain antibiotics. You mentioned you had a course of antibiotics? Would be helpful to know what antibiotics. Macrolides can cause the symptoms you describe, however they are not commonly prescribed for garden variety UTIs, only tissue specific.
  • just read you already do strength training. :)
  • What do you do for work? Or do those calculators disregard that and only count exercise?
  • Add me too, getting serious about this now. Gonna do 30 day shred on Sat Tues Thurs and weight training full body split on Mon Wed Fri. I am starting a full time physical job as a line cook so my calories seem high at 1850 but I think I'm on track. I am at my highest weight in years after having a miscarriage in June. SW:…
  • Yogurt and oatmeal. If not eating dairy then get a soy, coconut or almond based yogurt product. If not eating grains sub quinoa for the oatmeal. However, oatmeal really gets you regular, a bowl a day or every other day is really amazing. If you've gone off grains due to not being able to digest them for some reason, try…
  • Ice cream. It was fries, but just realized it's actually ice cream. In the summer I can eat it almost every day. 1/2 cup is so tiny too. :(
  • are you able to have a mini fridge and pick up fruit/veggies for yourself and keep them there? even some lean protein, yogurts and such would fit and then you can eat some lower calorie stuff with the meals you are having. a 1200 calorie diet you can have oatmeal +fruit for breakfast, salad with lean protein some…
  • Really? proof? I suppose bodybuilding.com is crap too just out to sell you supplements? I'm really scared of all the misinfo on the net these days. :( They even teach us this in school (I'm majoring in Nutrition) http://www.somatotype.org/Heath-CarterManual.pdf It's just a theory in any case. Not proven.
  • There are three different body types: endomorph, mesomorph and ectomorph. Endos lose weight very easily and also have a hard time putting on muscle, mesomorph is the "norm" as in no trouble losing or gaining, ectomorph has trouble losing weight and puts on muscle easily.
  • Shred it in a food processor? I think it comes with a slicing blade too.
  • Ty for the replies, I'll manually set it to 1400 and see how it goes. 2lbs a week seems like the maximum to lose safely and I'd rather lose gradually and permanently! Thanks again.
  • Your TSH is elevated, you won't lose weight until you're in the sub 3.0 range and all other thyroid function tests are normal. I was undermedicated for years and just steadily gained weight. Once I got on the right dose of replacement hormone therapy, brand name Levoxyl, no generics due to inconsistencies in amount of…
  • I think there becomes a point if you are a bodybuilder that you can eat almost anything you want. I have a friend who is like that but he trains at the gym 2 hours a day and has really increased his muscle mass over time. I think his maintenance calories are over 3000.
  • a cup of oatmeal with lots of fruit like berries, peaches with either protein powder mixed in or 3-4 egg whites on the side (or in it, you can't taste them). Lasts me 6-7 hours with a small snack after like a protein bar (make sure it has at least 3 grams of fiber) and piece of fruit, esp. banana. I am a chef so I have to…
  • Can you reward your weight loss in other ways than food? I think that helps. I usually buy myself something if I've lost 5 lbs. for example.

  • 30 day shred or ripped in 30 to lose inches if you're not used to working out. Or similar type of high intensity interval training using weights.
  • Whole foods, healthy fats, cooking at home, exercising 30 mins a day has worked for me. I'm pregnant now so don't look at my weight loss lol :) I lost the first 50 on the advice in this post tho.
  • I like the 90/10 philosophy in that 90% of the time I eat "healthy" (veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, good fats like avocado and nuts) then 10% I allow myself to eat anything else. Lately that's been ice cream. I define healthy as food that makes you feel good instead of sluggish, foggy headed and dehydrated.…
  • I lost the first 50 fast and have had the hardest time losing the last 50, so slow and steady is just fine as long as it keeps coming off. I think your best point is how we learn how to live healthy forever rather than quick fixes, that is key.
  • I know it sounds counterintuitive when you have water weight but drink more water, it will help with your sore muscles. Taking rest days from Shred is fine especially if you haven't done that kind of training before.
  • I second the advice for dietitian, I have pre-diabetes and Hashimoto's so I had to change some things in my diet. Weight loss is slow with these conditions. Also have your cortisol checked, you may have adrenal fatigue which messes up how exercise affects you; your body takes longer to recover from it.
  • I started this exercise after many doubts due to the reported injuries and emphasis on old-school moves that most people don't bother with or know don't work that well; I did 3 days so far, one day off and two days in a row and I'm already having issues. I have worked on my feet all of my life so risking my knees and back…
  • For everyone drinking water after dinner before bed, how do you sleep through the night? If I have so much as a 6 ounce cup of tea I get up to ... 2 or 3 times a night> :( Great advice egable1. Also what are good bedtime snacks? I would imagine it would have to be a bit of protein, some carbs and not much fat. An apple and…
