  • I have seen and heard a lot of mean spirited and hurtful comments, which I think stem from jealousy. Someone had success, so it's better to criticize them and their method rather than look inward as to why they themselves lack the dedication or commitment. But I wonder if some of the negativity might stem from someone who…
  • I have asked a few people if they were on something like weight watches, or something like that, to help with their weight loss. But only because they were sharing their weight loss with everyone. I also make it clear that if it's a private issue to them, I understand. I don't ever comment on anyone's weight though, unless…

  • I just wish it didn't drag on for so long. I have been skipping a month, or even 2 months, for about 2 years now. Then it is regular for a few months -- then I start skipping again. I get so excited when I skip, hoping to never have to buy tampons again. But then it comes back. I keep a few tampons with me at all times. I…
  • I have this problem as well. My eye's aren't always red, but they get irritated easily. They would hurt a lot. I would get the drops from the eye doctor to clear them up, and they worked beautifully, but I would keep getting recurring problems. Burning, red eyes. I used allergy eye drops for awhile, and Systane tears,…
  • Thanks to everyone. There are such great people here! I appreciate the helpful and thoughtful responses. Anyone feel free to 'friend' me, if you would like to.
  • Thank you! Sometimes I wish I could just put blinders on, and blur all the advice, diets, opinions, successes and failures out there, and just focus on myself. What I am eating and doing is the only thing that is going to have any effect on me. I want to focus less on the pounds, and focus more on doing what is best for me.
  • I have a fitbit one. I'm not even sure they make them anymore. I haven't had it a year yet, but it seems like the flex and zip were more popular, and now they have the fitbit charge. I got the fitbit one because I didn't want to wear it on my wrist. You can clip the one anywhere, and I usually keep it on my bra. If I had…
  • I find calorie counting to be a major drag too. But whoever said to think of it as a tool to gain control of my life, has helped me too. I know this battle is in my head, and I have to stop thinking of it as a chore, but rather a tool to improve my health, my outlook, my life. It's easy , free, and effective if you're…
  • I agree completely. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. And you are so right about the relationship with food being the problem. I am working on that, and trying to find a way to fix it.
  • Ha ha -- maybe we should start our own goofy diet trend -- skip breakfast, save the calories. I hope it's obvious that I'm kidding. But it's probably not as ridiculous as some of the other 'advice' that's out there. Best thing to remember is that we are all different. We all have to do our own thing, and what works for one…
  • All great advice. The breakfast thing --- the most important meal of the day. I think that was drummed into my head so much, I always eat breakfast. And it's a habit now, but I used to skip it all the time. I feel less hungry by lunch time when I don't eat breakfast. It doesn't make sense to me, but that's how it is. Well,…
  • I know this to be true. But it's so easy to be tempted by a quick fix. I ate at Panera Bread tonight. IT was so good. No way -- NO WAY I would ever give up bread. I don't care how much weight someone loses going on a no carb diet. I don't think anyone can, or should, eat that way long term. All food is good. I also would…
  • I agree 100%. It's easy to lose that motivation. In the past it has helped me to focus on health. The problems I will start to have, if I don't make some changes. I am not a fan of The Biggest Loser, but I used to watch it quite a bit. When they talk about how the fat starts to interfere with your organs, it really gets to…
  • That is what I used to do and I have no idea why I quit. I still bring my treats, but I have been throwing the whole bag of fun sized candy, or kisses, into my tote. NOT a good idea! I guess I thought I would be sensible and just eat the same amount. But that's not what has been happening at all. Surprise!
  • I went out to eat with friends and they ordered margaritas. I ordered a diet soda. As far as I"m concerned, we all ordered something delicious, that we felt like enjoying at that time. But why am I the only one who is frowned upon for my beverage of choice? I don't guzzle it all day any more than they guzzle margaritas all…
  • You started. You did it. Bravo! I don't know you, but I feel really proud of you! So be proud of yourself and keep up the good work!
  • Yes, this is what I think too. I get tempted by things like nutrisystem, but I know I can't eat that way forever. And I don't want to lose weight, only to gain it back.
  • https://www.fitbit.com/user/2T94X9 Add me if you'd like to be friends here, or on fitbit. I haven't used my fit bit regularly for awhile, but I'm excited to get back to it!

  • I need friends. I posted an introduction earlier. I am 51 and need to lose about 50 pounds, and this is not my first attempt. So if this sounds familiar, or if you think you can help -- please add me!
  • This is something I struggle with too. I don't want to cut things out because I know I won't stick with it forever. So I don't want to feel deprived. But maybe it's best to give some things up for awhile. Then gradually add them back in, in moderation?
