I had everyone flummoxed. I started getting comments when I got down to about 220 (started at 250). But I had also gotten new glasses, started cutting my hair super short, and started going with the clean shaven look. Some people didn't even recognize me.

I hope you're right!!!!

Thank you!

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! I like to post when I hit big milestones, because I know how much that helped me when other people did it here. It's nice to see people succeed.

This has been true for me up until about 2 months ago. I'm now noticing that when I hit a new low, I tend to stay there. So in the morning, with no clothes on and after going to the bathroom, I'm 177. By the end of the day, after I've had all my meals and snacks, I'm usually more like 181. But in the morning, I'm right…

Thanks!

At 177 lbs now. My ideal weight is said to be 165 so I've moved the goal post again.
-
Exact same here! My next whoosh should get me down to my goal weight, which will be really nice.

This might be TMI, but yes, I know when I start constantly peeing for a couple of days, I'm about to drop 2 or 3 more lbs. MFP has me set at 1900 calories a day to lose .5 lbs. a week, but I've lost 4 lbs. over the last month and I think it's because I tend to drop water weight a couple of pounds at a time. I might go a…

I put MyFitnessPal on "maintain weight" for the week we went on vacation in December. When we got back home, I totally forgot to put it back on losing .5 lbs. a week. It took me about a week to realize it.

I think a HUGE part of how I got the way I am is the freedom I was given in my childhood. Not that I'm blaming my parents for my weight, but my mom used to go to the grocery store once a week and fill up two shopping carts to the top with groceries. They were intended to last two weeks, but usually didn't. My brother and I…

Yep--like many, I only log the weight when I hit a new low. I'm really only interested in how long it's taking me to hit the new lows. I know that if I'm doing things right, the trend is going to be downward, even though my weight will fluctuate up and down by a couple of pounds in the process.

No--that was not my intention. I just meant that there is a minority of people who naturally seem to have the right idea about food and eating. They probably have to work at it just like the rest of us, but they never became overweight or obese before waking up and realizing that they needed to eat better. It's a challenge…

Yes, like others have mentioned, I think it would be more interesting to find out WHY "naturally skinny" people never seem to gain weight. We know how losing weight works if we've been using MFP for awhile. But I'd love to find out what it is about people who have never needed to lose weight that bucks the trend of…

I'm the most like this at dinner time. I've started regularly eating a small, healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack even if I'm not particularly hungry. That way the hanger doesn't hit me at dinner time. I am always still wanting to eat more after dinner, even if I'm totally full. While I'm clearing up and doing…

I plan on continuing to log as much as I can once I'm in maintenance mode. I'm in no way equipped to just go back to no logging. When I'm super hungry sometimes, all logic goes out the window and I will pig out. I can see myself getting back into that habit very quickly if I don't have my food diary to remind me how much…

I would say if you're overweight to severely overweight and live in America, you probably just simply aren't programmed to be able to do this. They don't teach us that skill here. I would advise logging for at least 4 or 5 months before you decide to go it alone.
-
I'm glad I saw this--grams and ml on my food scale always seem to be the exact same value.
-
I would kill to be able to lose 1.5 a week at this point. I'm 4 lbs. away from my ultimate goal weight, and I have to keep it to .5 lbs. a week or I feel miserable and hungry all the time. Enjoy the ability to melt that much off per week while you still can. Progress gets slower and slower as you get closer to goal.

I freaking LOVE my Apple Watch. It's helped me lose 70 lbs. It's funny--I'm a musician and the other night I showed up for a rehearsal--the conductor was already there. I hadn't seen him in a couple of years but noticed he was wearing one too, and he had lost 80 lbs. I know a lot of people who have bought Fitbits and had…

You now have the power that so many people in the world don't have: control over your eating habits. Once you get into the correct mindset, you are unstoppable. Sounds like you are in the groove.

Our old elliptical usually registered about double the amount of calorie burn that my Apple Watch would tell me and its built in heart rate sensors were always way off the charts. I got rid of that machine because it was hurting my back and replaced it with an Airdyne AD-6. It usually calculates within 10 calories of what…

It took me about 20 lbs. before people started saying things like "Wow, you've lost weight--I can really see it in your face!" Be patient. Stay the course. The first thing to change will be the scale, and your physical appearance will change later.

I noticed that while I was trying to lose weight and be careful what I was eating at parties and gatherings, people were constantly pressuring me to eat more. Now that I've basically hit my goal and am officially "skinny", they don't bother me about it anymore. In fact it's quite opposite now. My aunt the other day saw me…

OMG I totally do the same thing on the nights I'm struggling. I even take it a couple of steps further--I set up the coffee pot for the morning, get the cats' food out for the next feeding, get everything set up so the whole house is in "ready for the morning" mode. I brush, floss, and mouthwash, and then either put some…

Yes, I know there's that element to it as well and it's inexcusable. My wife, my sister and many other women I know deal with it all the time and it's just a shame. I never fully realized what a constant problem this was for women until a couple of years ago and since then have decided that we ALL need to be feminists.…

I got my "fat guy coat" out of the hall closet the other day, and I was able to wrap it around my wife and zip us both up into it. Isn't that kind of stuff crazy????
-
Ha! I was just surfing around in here and saw this by pure chance! It's kind of an outside looking in feeling sometimes when you realize you're not in that world of constant overeating anymore and you take the blinders off. And no, of course you never comment about it, but the delusions people have about their weight and…

I sometimes feel like I live in bizzaro world for sure. Whether it's at work, at the grocery store, at a restaurant, or whatever. I look around me sometimes and realize that a) almost everyone I see is significantly overweight and b) for more than half my life I was just like them. Being officially at a "healthy" weight…
