Olive oil, avocados, peanut butter, nuts, whole milk yogurt. I limit cheese and butter because I need to watch saturated fat for health reasons.

I would just use active time. While you may be burning a few extra calories during the resting phase of a workout, the burn is probably not very significant.

163 lbs in the first photo, in 2012. 125 lbs in the second (taken about a month ago...3 lbs from goal). I lost 27 lbs in 2013, gained some back, and lost it again.

I’ve had a couple of people notice my modest weight loss (17 pounds) and their comments have been welcome and not at all offensive to me. One person said “you’ve lost weight, haven’t you?” When I said yes, she said “was it intentional?” When I said yes, she said “good for you.” Another said “I can tell you’ve dropped a few…

Not sure what exercise you did on the day you posted but the exercise burn looks high to me.

Going to bed earlier so I get enough sleep. I still struggle with this but it is extraordinary how much more energy I have and how much better able I am to handle life's unexpected setbacks when I’ve had enough sleep.

I’d rather it go in the garbage than into my body as weight gain. And I hate wasting food. If you can’t freeze it to eat later as others have said, and you can’t give it away, it might be best to toss it and move on.

I have some days where I am constantly hungry. So I keep eating, but I choose mindfully. I try to make sure I'm eating a mix of fat and protein along with carbs - if I eat all carbs I will still be hungry. I write off the day as a maintenance day and go back to my calorie limit (1300) the next day, with maybe a bit of…

75-80 percent if using MFP’s estimator. I use Omni to calculate hiking calories nd use 90-100 percent of what it gives me.

I like and use Omni, too.

When I got married 10 years ago and was trying on wedding dresses I had to sneak photos of all of them to look at later because I could not tell from just looking in the mirror if I really liked them. I don’t have this trouble with other clothes (usually), it was weird. I am happy overall with the new me (still 2 pounds…

She’s a narcissist, can only think about herself and judge everyone in comparison to herself. I think your plan to not hike with her as much is a good one.

It’s taken me almost 6 months to lose 17 pounds. They’re mostly vanity pounds, though, I was a normal BMI when I started.

For snacks: fruit, a carrot with some hummus, a hard-boiled egg, a protein bar, a protein shake, a small handful of nuts, celery with some peanut butter, some yogurt.

How do you edit? I have tried to edit database entries before but there is no mechanism to do it, at least on myiPhone and iPad. How is this done?
-
Why compare yourself to others? Everyone is at a different level of fitness and ability. What is right for them may be totally wrong for you. Does the weight you’re lifting challenge you? Are you regularly adding small amounts of weight, or increasing reps or sets? You should be able to tell if what you’re lifting is too…

One of my recipes reads “Lemon Farlic Parmesan Shrimp Pasta” and I never bothered to correct it.

Be consistent. Doing some formnof exercise/activity on a regular, consistent basis is better than being a “weekend warrior.”
-
How do you create an entry in the database? Or edit an existing entry? I’ve never understood how to do this.

Quick 4.8-mile hike on flat terrain by my house.

I started at 140 and my goal is 122. I am at 124 currently and it’s taken me since the end of Feb. I’ve been working on the last 5 pounds for six weeks so far. Goal is to lose it all before Labor Day. I’ve been eating at between 1300-1400 except for the occasional splurge (goal is 1300 but sometimes I am over, even after…

They’ve talked. About re-introducing grizzlies to California, too. As a frequent hiker and formerly frequent backpacker, I prefer to deal only with black bears and mountain lions, whose behavior I understand much better. I am terrified of grizzlies. It’s sad that the only grizzly in CA is on the state flag, but I am in no…

Nuts are not that great for protein either, especially for the amount of fat and calories. Meat, chicken, tuna, shrimp, tilapia, other fish, Greek yogurt, tofu, milk, powdered protein are all good sources.

I think we have been brainwashed/conditioned to eat when going to the movies. It’s what we’ve done since young children. But when I stopped, I began saving both calories and money. Win-win. If I MUST eat something (like when the movie impinges on a mealtime), I bring my own snack, usually a protein bar os small baggie of…

Your body uses carbs for energy during a workout. Since it didn’t have any, you felt awful. I am told this eventually passes (never done keto myself) but the first few weeks of kero can be really tough.

RodaRose has nailed it. I especially enjoy sourdough white bread when my system is resetting after a colonoscopy. Although I avoided cheese and too much dairy; it was constipating for me.

They don’t call it junk food for no reason.
-
Must you fry? There are a lot of other ways to cook food that avoid the oil from frying.
-
The comments that mention habit are spot on. I had more calories than I could eat yesterday (did a 10 mile hike) and started out the day not logging, but that felt so wrong (because logging is now an ingrained habit) so I went back and logged everything.

I calculate my calories burned conservatively and then eat every last one of them back.
