  • I honestly don't make too many sacrifices and I'm not a super active person with a lot of calories to play with. On holiday I indulge in whatever takes my fancy but I do pretty active holidays so damage is minimal. Harder when in a deficit sure. When maintaining I don't have too much trouble fitting in most things I want.
  • I'm sorry it's not better news @Nony_Mouse but at least there is progress. Plus, he doesn't look terribly upset about being in hospital! Leaving them behind though is so hard.
  • How many calories are you eating? Are you eating any exercise calories?
  • Savoy cabbage yes. Any cabbage really. I had white, shredded, boiled till just, tossed in butter, nom. And yes, sprouts with bacon are really good. Or if you're fancy like me diced pancetta. But I love brussels sprouts. Have some in the fridge right now!
  • As soon as the diet doctor website is rolled out I need to back away because nope.
  • I don't understand kale. Of all the delicious vegetables available why would anyone choose it? It's just so, nothing. I'm still dropping water, given I'm pretty sure i was close to maintenance last week I certainly haven't dropped fat yet this year. My damn body and its weird clingy relationship with water. 6lbs off since…
  • It's not what you eat that dictates how much fat you gain but how much alongside what training you do. Lift heavy and have a moderate surplus will mean more muscle gain vs fat gain. Lift heavy and have a large surplus means more fat gain than muscle gain. Eat any surplus and do no training and you'll just gain fat. Clean…
  • Agreed above, fat is essential, as is protein. I can't see you having adequate protein or anything close eating raw vegan. With the amount of activity you throw in there not having a complete diet is going to create issues.
  • Holy 3.5 year old thread Batman.
  • I think my struggle with consistent compliance has actually been a blessing. I do pretty well maintaining naturally now, with being mindful and keeping hold of the reins. I can't be sure that would have happened had I got to goal in 18 months (which even for some seems like an absolute age, never mind the 3 years I'm about…
  • I'm missing what you're missing too. Edit: I also don't think the "poor fellow" was forced fleeing from the boards. They have 6 posts. They posted in what was a short and uneventful thread twice, once being the OP and second for clarification. I don't think mountain out of a molehill is an adequate analogy, that was a…
  • I am in a constant battle with compliance these days but I just keep going. Keep logging, no matter what. Whilst I may not always be fully compliant I am consistent and that habit means I have always continued to lose outside of known breaks/gaining periods albeit slowly. Sometimes I'm fully compliant, other weeks a bit…
  • Not to drag it too off topic but the pre-workout thing can be dangerous/detrimental for some people and they might not even realise it. Just not putting two and two together that they are stimulants and not suitable to some for health reasons. Myself included (ain't nobody got time for a hypomanic episode to be triggered).…
  • 3" shorter, 9 years younger, lazy, 160lbs, can lose grossing what the OP is. Are you still losing OP? Because you're eating my sedentary maintenance, when I'm not being a lazy toad I lose eating that.
  • Tall, active, young and eating 1700 calories? I'd be famished too.
  • I honestly do give a bit of mental side eye to vegan and vegetarian threads along with keto (and largely stay out of them because of that) as they are all "trendy" right now. Keto is at its peak fervour though. But the pushback isn't about the WOE, it's about the myths and legends and evangelical indoctrination that comes…
  • Oh you lot don't get the blow by blow of Horatio the horror, the ginger 9 month old kitten who is the cattest cat that ever catted. You know those pets that go viral because of their shenanigans? He's like one of those, just hasn't quite gone viral yet. Maybe because I'm too lazy to set him up a page. Literally not a day…
  • Oh I faked it for a good long time and I still have my moments. But I'd rather wear the things and do the things than worry about some silvery bits of skin. Or lumpy bits of skin for that matter! Still working on short shorts in public but that's more of a hungry bum issue than anything else.......
  • My boobs are actually pretty alright curiously! Because they are generous. A few tummy ones from being fat but the ones all over my legs/butt/thighs/inner thighs/backs of knees have been there since I was about 13. Never cared enough not to wear a bikini.
  • I just have the motherload of stretch marks instead. Fair warning to anyone thinking about stopping being an elite level gymnast and running head first straight into delayed puberty!
  • "this bodybuilder's" LOL BMR is not the same as NEAT, the two are being conflated. Take it to the debate section, let's not turn this into a shitshow because unlike "debunking CICO" this is actually helpful for a lot of people buying into the latest diet du jour, like keto.
  • I can't even imagine. I have a bit of a headache today along with still being a bit fatigued from all the sleep issues I've had this week and I'm having a hard enough time with that never mind what you're dealing with. Brain stuff is so hard to treat, from mental illness through to neuro issues like epilepsy and migraines.…
  • Yep you'll have issues with calipers if there's a lot of loose skin. I have a feeling most methods will be tricky and the best may well be an eyeball but even then there are limitations depending on location and severity of the loose skin. Someone else may be able to help better though, I'm just your amateur armchair…
  • Youtube. All the workouts in the world. I never set foot in a gym. And Panache for sports bras.
  • "Nutritional coach" sounds like someone I am going to walk in the opposite direction if they even so much as look like they may be about to tell me what and how to eat. You don't need one OP, you just need to eat less of the things you like making sure to eat a wide and varied diet within your calorie goals. That's it.
  • Yes, I was rather pleased with myself that I thought the same as our almighty leader!
  • I think the figures quoted here are always deficit figures because most people are indeed eating at a deficit. It's a much rarer question to be asked about maintenance needs.
  • Nothing particular to contribute but wanted you all to know I didn't have Japanese because they don't open till evening on Fridays and I was hungry so I got Venezuelan instead and it was freaking delicious and Horatio* agree because I had to cup some empanadas for him once I'd finished. Although in fairness he does eat…
  • I just try and make a sweet treat per day fit within my calories. If I'm going through a period of not being able to moderate them then I don't keep them in the house and only allow myself to buy a single serve when out. If I can keep control of myself then I'll have things like Rice Krispie treats, small bars of…
  • Another little whoosh of .75lbs this morning. I will reverse that today because I am med hungover on top of sleep deprived because I'm ordering Japanese. But med was necessary because I'd be even more sleep deprived at this point without it and I do not need to teeter on the brink of crisis because my brain shuts down from…
