Don't fret. It's just a weekend. We don't realise it but do you know how much you actually have to eat EXTRA on top your daily calorie maintenance to truly gain a real kilo and not water weight? Get back to healthful eating, smile and think back on how you enjoyed that one time as you might as well not beat…

That was the similar with me tbh though I didn't substitute it with food but with making a calorie allowance for it to indulge in at the end of the week. A particularly bad run was when I was so hooked on the gelato at an ice cream parlour due to their very very creative weekly flavours which they posted up on Facebook…

I know exactly how you feel, OP. A large part of it isn't really your fault - think about it, it's little ol' you against an entire billion dollar fast food and junk industry that spends billions of their profit dollars on R&D research for find the best possible combination of tastes and ways to mix flavours, fats, salt,…

But yeah I do the exact same thing - I'll eat a little more because I planned for it. I won't rush straight away to the scale but mentally I have already thought "OMG I have eaten more than the cal I deserve/allotted" and on my weigh in - I rush to weigh myself thinking I would have gained 1kg extra, and this is after I…
-
Yep, I'm like this too, even if I've made concessions during the week to enable myself to eat more during the weekends, as I work bloody hard during the week personal + professional and I'll be darned if I can't sit back and enjoy this one life that I have. But come weekend I get really guilty when it finally comes…

Well I've been on 800 cal a day for a few days and was absolutely miserable. I can wing one or two days, but only sometimes. This was when I was overweight and went through a very short (thankfully) period where I tried to deliberately starve myself skinny. Super obese people go through alot of food a day, sometimes in the…

Fair enough. This is a weight loss/health & fitness support forum and I don't want it to descend into the "overweight people are taxing the system" and "overweight people don't take accountability etc" dribble I see elsewhere.

Wow, really? Is this in America? Yes, I agree on the 'quick fix' aspect, hence the apostrophes. It's mental torture. I think alot of it revolves around society and socio-political aspects of how society has turned into. An individual simply is lost in all of that, and all this while having to worry and work through…

That's quite an absolutist point of view - if its not black, then it must be white. Discussion of a topic, phenomena or an opinion does not necessarily have to entail the judgement = criticism statement you are asserting. When we exercise our ability to discuss something without flying into the conclusion that we are…

That is an obvious objective statement I too share, but thank you. I was seeking non-judgemental rationales for the trend, as opposed to validations/justifications.

Good on you!

*chortle* I just 'talk' too much lol!

OMG. Tell me about it!! The bones - I need pillows for my knees and my bum. Its so annoying! And the cold! I really enjoyed the cold when I had a little more body insulation on me - now I need 5 layers in bed, and I wear at least 3 thick layers of clothes during EVEN THE SUNNY DAYS IN WINTER.

Oh one more thing. One thing I miss about being fat. How everyone assumes the worse of you. I really like that. Because when you shine, they cower. Then they try to cut down your achievements outside of the "fat" label as though that is the only thing in my life that matters by calling you fat, or saying that you are…

I think it's just the free mindset - meaning I would eat without any mental hang ups about the calorie content, whether it's "bad" for me and just enjoy myself in a food vacuum. I could eat alot more and more times in a day too and thus prolong the enjoyment. Ignorance is bliss they say. But after being so accustomed to…

Well there are a lot of reasons. Everyone's situation and life circumstances are different.Sometimes it can be as strange as cultural reasons. For example in Japan exercise is not a norm and women there attain their frames by rigid portion control, the typical diet fads, or just the culture of the way food is eaten there…

One day at a time - the best way I reckon! Keep plugging away at it, and keep positive! The only time it's ever "wrong" is if you end up killing your mind, body and spirit overpressurising and overexerting yourself! :)
-
Well it's a gradual process. Rome wasn't built in a day, we don't become experts in our professional field in a week, and we don't get to the point where we can run a treadmill to death without practice! :) Just like it takes 3-4 years in university to get a degree, and further training on the job to become good/or…

@juleszephyr, Yes, I do! I think the planning and control part is also a means in which I project my own insecurities into it, its one aspect of my life I know I have absolute control over. But importantly, I know that its something that will work if I plan ahead for it, because I have always been a chubby kid and had lots…

I'm really happy to know you regained your weight back healthily and got over that hurdle!

Hi @squishprincess, EXACTLY!! When it comes to losing weight the formula is pretty straight forward - its just about willpower, structure, planning and consistency, and as long as you keep it on a routine, straight line the weight will drop off, even if its a little slow at first. With maintenance when I started I was a…

Cauliflower. They make great cauliflower steaks, "rice", "rice" aracinis, baked patty cakes. Soups also make great appetisers - they can be thickened by flour, cornstarch, or by blitzing. Tomato soup and cauliflower "toast" is a great low carb option for an appetiser. If you are game, try to go beyond the 'meat and 3 veg'…

Food processor, manual juicer for daily juices, mixing bowl and my electric kettle! Most oft used on a daily basis!

Try avocado! It's calorie dense, and has lots of good fats! It goes well in many things too, adds creaminess where it's needed and is a good way to replace butter.

Did you use tea bags for the green tea part or matcha? Looks frothy and refreshing!
-
@dizzieblondeuk - I don't know why I pictured the leftover parfait from Malcom in the Middle of all the leftovers of the week in a casserole! Ohh, the 90s.
-
@Alatariel75, Yeah haha I have to consciously swat away those stray thoughts when walking around a supermarket or a market that goes along the lines of "Hmm, those leeks would go well with x leftovers", or "Oo, that canned tomato soup would go well with that tin of tuna I have in the pantry like I saw on that Youtube video…

I had a similar problem as a child. Our school timings were really early so we woke up at 5am everyday and during that time I simply could not eat or drink anything because doing so would give me a massive stomach upset and I would miss the school bus if I spent all that time in the toilet!

Yup. Same here. Eating breakfast makes me heaving with hunger by lunch time. Whereas if I just power through my day to lunch with a good strong coffee with a splash of milk I get somewhat peckish by lunch and eat a reasonably well-portioned size then. By the time I get to dinner I'm quite hungry, so it works very well for…

YES I CAN RELATE. My fridge is overflowing with food, leftover packets, portions, etc. All the recipes out there are for 4-6 and I'm just horrible at reducing the portions while cooking because I worry it would spoil the end product. So it's a massive meal I have to sub-divide and I have been going through periods where…
