  • I was doing a lot of Cardio a couple months ago and started to look skinny fat. I hated it. All that work and I still didn't like how I looked. I started lifting weights and doing some plyos along with whatever cardio I felt up for (energy wise) and saw a huge difference. I'm not perfect but I have abs that I can see more…
  • That's an amazing idea! I need to get back to crockpot dinners. Half of what kills me each evening is having to cook dinner when I have been playing with the kids all day. It's really like torture in my opinion.
  • I was thinking today was Friday, but it's Saturday. I wanted to participate this weekend in the challenge. So far, I did well last night. I went to the store and was busy until bedtime. Today I am at work and packed a bunch of healthy food (from said store visit). I plan to go to bed at a good time again tonight so that…
  • It seems like it happens every two weeks or so. My body holds onto the weight until I am super annoyed, then finally lets go of 1lb. or so. I don't have much left to lose, so it's probably stubborn padding that my body wants to keep.
  • I'll weigh in tomorrow, but my weight loss has been sooooo slowwww. Up a pound, down a pound, up a pound down 1.5lb. it's like pulling teeth. I feel like I'm at the "up a pound" time right now.
  • Binge or fatigue eating are my biggest enemies. Usually I binge if my kids made a cake or cookies and I just keep eating them (I wish they didn't bake so well) which goes with being tired by 4pm. And finally, if I have no healthy food in the house because I haven't gone to the grocery store that makes it all the worse.…
  • Hey, I'm glad you're running. It's a great calorie torcher and can be a lot of fun. As far as with my own running problems, I have found in hot weather I will suffer from foot pain more. Couple that with increasing your distance, and you may have some problems. In addition, you are supposed to up your running amount only…
  • @VictorianFlower I absolutely love fitnessblender.com. I used Jillian Michaels in the past, but I got bored of doing the same videos. fitnessblender has free videos that are based on what level you choose (1-5) and you can do cardio or strength training. They have 400 videos so you can do a search, schedule them on your…
  • That is exactly what I do!!
  • @shangates92 when do you work out? I'm not hungry in the morning either. I get up and workout at 6:30/7am, then when my kids have breakfast around 9 I have my first coffee, then eat breakfast, have lunch around 2 and that gets me to dinner around 6. Seriously, why is dinner 6 hours away from lunch, but lunch is only 3…
  • Current Weight: 126.3lb. Overall Goal: 123? August Goal: 123 lb. Goals:* Start running 2x each week again * Eat less salty foods (meat, popcorn etc.) * Maintain healthy eating on the weekends I am trying to replace fat with muscle, so I'm not sure how my weight will shift.
  • I was able to get it to work. I added myself and my info. This looks amazing!
  • Hey I definitely want to join as well, but I couldn't find the group when I did a search...
  • That's a great idea. I usually have light carbs at dinner, though :/ Shez, I have struggled with this same problem. I lose 2 lb. then I plateau for a week or two, then finally lose 2 more lb. Annoying. Here is what has helped me: -Tracking calories by using a food scale. It's amazing how eyeballing food is totally…
  • Dinner is tricky. My kids will eat kid food, my husband will eat almost anything, and I try to eat healthy. So, I try to pick a lean protein, then make a lot of veggies so I can eat a lot of veggies. The carb I either skip and just make for my kids and hubby, or I sub for something healthy. In the carb switch case, I have…
  • Thank you for the positive words! I think we all beat ourselves up when we have failures on our diets and goals. But really you are totally right! I will remember to be happy with all ll the little changes like healthier eating than ever, more muscle, and the many things I've learned along the way.
  • I am in too! This is my hardest thing to kick. Starting today. Nothing after 730pm.
  • Ooo, yes, that's what I want. I just never thought to purchase a weight through Amazon. Thanks, I bookmarked it and I will buy that when I get a paycheck ;)
  • Yeah, I got mine and it's plastic, I think from Wal Mart. It was the cheapest because I'm on a budget, but I'd like to get a second 15 lb. one just for lifting purposes - Perhaps a better one this time.
  • Great ideas! Thanks! Sometimes they just whine that they don't want to go outside, I guess I should just make them, because they always love it. Found this awesome post for outdoor activities: http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2013/05/50-outdoor-summer-activities-for-kids.html We have a rail trail nearby, and it's pretty…
  • Hi Chickie how are you? I just started strength training over the last week-and-a-half. I found out (through much study) that women are supposed to lift heavy weights. I always though 5lb. max was for me when lifting, and that was during cardio. Now I've realized I need to lift heavier - I use 15 lb per hand for chest…
  • Hey! I am in a similar situation. We started Summer Break about 3 weeks ago. My kids - 8 and 5 years - are very active. I love being active as well, but we live in Florida, so the heat can take its toll on your energy supply. We go swimming a lot, and we go to the beach on weekends. But, if you aren't in the water, it can…
  • What the heck is a thigh gap?
  • I also feel after having two kids that my extra skin and fat layer will just sag down for the beloved pooch tummy. Sigh. My mom has the same body type as I do, but we are both fit and active women. What more can we ask for besides good health and good strength?
  • That is fantastic! It is very eye opening to see how many calories we use to consume when we weren't paying attention.
  • This is a great time to bring this up. A lot of people are leaving for vacations this summer. I'm hoping to prep a lot of salads and take at least one or two hikes a day.
  • Ah that is great to hear. I will be looking forward to that!!!!!
  • Awesome! I have started doing easier cardio and more weight lifting and strength training. I totally am doing the same thing you did - transitioning away from heavy cardio. And I feel it's the right choice !!!
  • Thank you for the reply. I was reading that most women lift too light of weights and see no results. I am starting to lift heavier weights and hoping I can invest in more weights and kettlebells in the near future.
  • Hey, I found a lot of awesome FREE hiit workouts on fitnessblender.com. Most are 30 minutes, but they have HIIT cardio mixed with abs or butt or whatever you want to work, so you can do a longer video if you want.
