  • 5'6" 158 lbs. Size 9 in jeans and usually a medium in shirts.
  • I live in a 3rd floor apartment and I basically just walk around the apartment with some music or TV show on. The building is pretty old (built in the 1970's) so the floors are kinda creaky, and the person below me has yet to complain.
  • I love pickles, especially kosher dill, but unfortunately I don't really eat them much anymore because of the sodium. I love pickle juice even more than the pickles themselves. I could drink an entire jar of it.
  • I'm currently a smoker and I don't have any problems with cardio. I started at 185 and I'm 158 now. I'm sure cardio would be easier if I didn't smoke, but I haven't been able to have much luck with a vaporizer. It burns my throat when I use it, which is worse than smoking a traditional cigarette. I've played with the…
  • We had a rep bring in these amaaazing looking cupcakes today and I was practically drooling. I'm sure one was around 300 calories at least. Then one of the other girls said they weren't that good. Glad I didn't waste my calories!
  • I don't mind exercise if it's something I enjoy. For example, I walk in my apartment with music blasting. I also play Dance Dance Revolution which I can easily play for 1-2 hours without feeling I'm working out. Other conventional forms of exercise? Forget it. Going to the gym and work out videos bore me to tears.…
  • Yeah, that's what my fear was. Then again, that was also last year. I ate more calories than I should have and stopped walking so I gained a bunch of weight back. I started weighing and logging again in April, so I wasn't counting calories for a good 6-7 months. I thought maybe my metabolism would have gotten better in…
  • Thanks for the advice. I'll try using Trend Weight. It's just frustrating not knowing how many calories I should be eating. I did lose weight on 2000 calories for about 4 days but I assume it was water weight so I'm not sure if it was one of those weird things that just happened to occur, or if I can truly lose weight on…
  • I'm thinking my goal weight is going to be 140-145 but I'm not sure. I'll change my goal to 1/2 lb per week and see how that goes. I ate around 1650 calories yesterday and I had a loss on the scale this morning. I'll try and go back up to 1800 and see how things go for a while. I already am very meticulous in…
  • I generally don't lose weight a few days before, during and maybe a few days after. Drink lots of water to help with water retention. My weight is generally pretty stable. I'm not losing, but I'm also not gaining. :) I also find if I regularly get plenty of calcium my cramps aren't as bad. I only had to take ibuprofen two…
  • I used to think the same thing (that I could only lose weight with low carb), but a food scale and accurately weighing/logging food was a game changer for me. If you don't currently weigh your food I would definitely start there.
  • I'm set to lightly active and I eat back 75% of my exercise calories. MFP is designed to eat them back if you exercise otherwise you'll end up with net calories lower than your initial goal. My "goal" is set at 1300, and I generally eat around 1900-2000 gross calories.
  • This. I'm 5'6" and I eat around 1900-2000 most days, eating back about 75% of my exercise calories.
  • From what I understand, it doesn't matter what your activity level is because everything evens out in the end. You get larger adjustments with a lower activity level but your calorie goal is also smaller. Somebody can correct me if I am wrong.
  • I usually eat dinner around 7-7:30 and I don't eat anything after 8 (to avoid boredom snacking). I start to get settled for bed around 9:30-10 since I have to wake up at 6am.
  • When I say lifestyle change I mean everything. Tracking calories, exercising regularly and just making smart decisions. Granted, you don't have to exercise, but I enjoy it and it allows me to eat more food. Plus when I don't exercise I turn into a sloth and don't have the energy or motivation for anything. When I gained…
  • Last year I lost a bunch of weight. I started at 185 and got down to 158. Like you I stopped worrying about calories and weighing my food. I started eating fast food on the regular. Before I knew it my weight had creeped back up to 185. I decided I needed to make this a lifestyle. In April I started back at it again.…
  • I drink diet pop and water flavored with the sugar free powder packets. I can't just bring myself to drink plain water. It doesn't taste as good and my water intake would suffer.
  • My goal is 1300 and I eat around 1900-2000. I eat around 75% of my exercise calories. I actually lose weight better when I properly fuel my body.
  • I always weigh everything unless I'm eating a few pieces of chocolate from the candy jar at work, which then I don't have access to a food scale.
  • I bought the Ozeri scale off Amazon and I love it.
  • It's all a matter of personal preference. I personally can't stand going to a gym. I have free use of one in my apartment complex but I've only been a handful of times. I walk in my apartment where I can blast music or walk along to a TV show. When I go to a gym I feel like I'm constantly watching the clock. I'm much more…
  • I normally eat 1800-2000 depending on the day. Feel free to add me.
  • I'm ALWAYS in the yellow according to my Fit Bit when I go to bed. I use Fitbit for exercise and MFP for food. I don't even really pay any attention to that gauge.
  • Think of it this way. Is that one slice of cake the root of your previous weight gain? Probably not. I think if we allow ourselves the occasional treat it's not going to derail us. Now if you said you ate an entire cake by yourself, then I could understand the guilt. I'm not even to my goal weight yet and I allow myself…
  • I personally eat back the majority of my exercise calories because I've found my body responds best to that and allows changes to happen. If my deficit is too big then it'll pump the brakes and release that weight when it's good and ready.
  • How are food scales ridiculous? For people that don't have a lot of weight to lose it can be very easy to underestimate how much they're truly eating. As you get closer to goal you don't have as much wiggle room so it's best to be as accurate as possible. Just because you don't like using or need to use a food scale…
  • I have a pretty active job so I need lots of calories to get me through the day. On an average day I get 8-10k steps. I'm the busiest in the morning so I like a big breakfast. My breakfast is usually around 600 calories.
  • I know people on here will disagree with me, but the scale did start shifting for me again when I had increased my calories and backed off my exercise a bit. I was eating 1800 calories and even dropped down to 1700 and my weight wouldn't budge. I was averaging around 17-20k steps a day. I decided to try and eat back my…
  • Same here. My breakfast and lunch plus snacks during the day probably equal close to 1200 calories. If I were to eat 1200 calories I'd become very hangry :D 1800-1900 is what I prefer.
