  • Yes, soak almonds in water over night, then in blender with water, strain thru cheesecloth. I found the cheesecloth you buy at cheese making or homebrew sites is better quality than the stuff bought at Walmart. I usually buy ingredients in bulk, store in freezer and use when needed. Most of the time you save money making…
  • Pretty cool. I make my own cheese, yogurt, beer, wine so I already have most of the equipment. Also was watched a video a few days ago on making almond milk and almond flour. I'll have to save that video
  • I have the same problem so I've been thinking about getting an invisible dog!
  • Thought about posting it on the NSV thread, but since epiphany is an illuminating discovery or realization I figured I'd post it here. Maybe I should post on both
  • I have lost the amount of cheese an average American eats in a year and have an automobile tire to go.
  • I just realized I do not need antacid tablets anymore. I have them on my night stand, since I usually get heart burn at night. I don't know if it is losing weight, exercising, or change in diet. I am sleeping better too.
  • When the person in front of you falls asleep at a green light. Then wakes up, takes off and you get stuck because the light has turned red again!
  • I was tired of being tired all the time. But what really lit the fire under me was a physical and blood work that showed I was borderline everything.
  • It's difficult to achieve 100% satisfaction and that for some people is what they call drive. Always striving to be better, for me the more challenges the better. See something you don't like, figure out a way to change it! I don't let things slow me down, just get on the internet, do some research and find a solution.…
  • Welcome aboard Winston.
  • I guess I'm lucky living alone equals less temptations. I still have ice cream, potato chips, deserts, soda and other high calorie stuff in my house, but I choose to limit my intake of those foods so it fits into my calorie budget. I chose to eat more protein, and low calorie carbs. You have to do some research and find…
  • I'm a bit of a loner, so when I go to the gym I have my mind set on doing my workout. That said, I would never turn away someone who wanted to chat or wanted me for a workout partner. Personally, if I was looking for a partner, I would like them to be more advanced then me, so I could learn and have a target to shoot for.…
  • It's over 100 degrees here in Arizona, but "it's a dry heat"!!! Went for a walk on the beach this morning. Now relaxing my tired sore muscles after starting back at the gym this week.

  • Dr. T Colin Campbell is a vegan, promoting the vegan lifestyle. http://nutritionstudies.org/ So you can decide whether it's right or wrong
  • After I posted I did google weight watcher food scale and seen they did make them, but it was to late. Sometimes it is hard to express your thoughts thru text and not knowing the person makes it more difficult. But at least you got a laugh out of it, so all was not lost! lol
  • I say if giving up high calorie foods works for you, than do it. I am giving up those foods while losing weight, then plan to incorporate them back in when maintaining weight. Hopefully I will be able to eat them in moderation and not go overboard. So far, this is working for me.
  • I find it very interesting actually!
  • Everyday, sometimes more. I am curious about it after I eat or exercise. I only pay attention to my first thing in the morning weight for logging.
  • I just googled weight watcher scale and all I seen was bathroom scales that you use to weigh your body. We are talking about the small food scales that sit on the counter. I figured I would mention that in case there was confusion.
  • If your have a digital scale you can place your measuring cup on the scale, then turn it on. It should read zero, add your food until it shows 1 cup then see what it weighs. That's the way mine works, I sometimes put my plate on the scale, then turn it on, check to see it is reading zero, then put my food on the plate to…
  • That is something I never realized until joining MFP and reading the forums, that calorie burn depends so much on body mass. When I overeat I can hop on the treadmill and burn it off quickly, but smaller people it's not as easy. Also never realized how many calories some of the nuts have, I use to use nuts to curb my…
  • Guilty! I grab a handful of nuts and say that's about a half a serving, so I can eat 2 handfuls. I never even thought about logging garlic and onions. I do log milk in my coffee
  • I’m just tired of trying to figure a way to tell them nicely their wrong, so they don’t get all bent. So I just let them figure it out for themselves, like I had to.
  • I like michelina's frozen dinners, they are small 200 to 400 calories. I like some of the other brands too. The frozen dinners are quick and easy, no leftovers. I also cook for one, I buy in bulk then individually repackage everything using a vacuum sealer. You can also cook a big whatever, then vacuum pack it into small…
  • Wow, that's always been the attitude of the elite. The rules don't apply to them!!! And yet we continue to bow and fall down to kiss the feet of the rich and famous like they are some sort of gods. When we decide to no longer follow them, they will no longer have power.
  • My interpretation of "clean eating" is eating foods that have not been factory processed. So basically you would homestead. Grow, can, and preserve your own food. Have some cows, goats, pigs, and chickens for milk, eggs, and meat. So you would sustain yourself and family off of what you can grow, forage, or hunt. That's…
  • I usually sleep 7 hours in the low 90% efficiency range. I sometimes have a hard time falling asleep, but when I do, I'm dead to the world. No problem sleeping till 10 or 11 am depending on how late I stay up. I'm trying to go to bed early so I can get early and go for a walk while it is cool out. It's 110 degrees in the…
  • Great post, I like reading about other peoples success, and how they did it. It gives me something different to try and breaks the boredom of doing the same routine. I thought about hitting the gym from the git go, but decided since I'm in my 50's to start back slow so I didn't give myself a heart attack. So I started…
  • No problem here, I think our main concern here is losing weight. So the more ways we can accomplish that goal the better off we are!
  • Hello, losing weight and exercising should help BP and maybe diabetes. I just read a story about a guy with type 2 that just got off his meds, dieting and exercising, in the main forum. It takes time so be patient! Once I cut the excess sugar out of my diet I could eat enough other food to satisfy my hunger and still be…
