  • Welcome, Lana! A tip that helped get me losing weight was a doctor's suggestion to cut out all white carbs. That means only whole-grain breads & pastas & such (and unless the front says "100 percent whole-grain" you have to check the ingredients list to make sure it's *only* whole-grain -- lots of breads have "whole wheat"…

  • As the others implied, it's hard to make any suggestions when we don't know how many pounds a week you've told MFP you want to lose, and what it's suggested as your daily goal. For whatever it may be worth, I started losing weight without using a daily calorie goal. My doctor told me to swap white carbs for whole wheat.…
  • Some of the extra weight could definitely be muscle. Keep in mind that muscle is denser than fat, so a pound of fat will take up more space than a pound of muscle.
  • I once played tenor sax. I'm impressed. :)
  • Just thought I'd check in - how's it going?

  • I'm among those who doesn't worry too much about what's in the peanut butter. If I have a bit more than 400 calories to spend, I'll make a full-bore PBJ with whole-wheat bread and artificially sweetened fruit jelly/jam. :) I'll note, though, that it really is easy to make your own with a food processor and a big jar of…
  • Welcome, Irene! I'm 64 and, after losing about 70 pounds, am definitely more flexible _ I can once more not just cross my legs, but twine them, with the ankle of my "over" leg behind the other calf. I can also squat or kneel to take a photograph without needing to lean on a cane or some other support to get back…
  • But if you ask, they'll leave out the batter.

  • Not really that fast? You cut your time by more than one-third, woman. That's impressive as all get-out!
  • YAY on the scrub pants! And for an even "truthier" view of what you've lost, pick up 5 lbs of butter. That's 5 lbs of fat, so you get a view of its size as well as its weight.
  • For me (5-foot-6) I've found that 20 pounds equates to one pants size. Or did until I got to 12. Since 12, nothing has made any sense. Some styles I need 10, some even 8.
  • Anyone who wants to add me as a friend, just drop me a note with the request saying where you "met" me. :) I've been maintaining since November, and there are still changes. At the doctor's yesterday, my bp was lowest ever - 1-teens/63. The doc asked if I wanted to try a med reduction. Since the med's a capsule, I couldn't…
  • My blood pressure was low enough yesterday that my doc's considering cutting my med. However, I'm not getting lightheaded, so we're sticking with the current dose for now.
  • From someone else who's realized the need for lifetime logging and no longer sees that as an insufferable burden, Congratulations!
  • Check with a professional. I gotta say, your pic looks pretty damn good to me.
  • Yeah, the last pounds are the hardest. It took more calories just to maintain your body at your top weight, so you could eat more and still lose. But you've done a heck of a job, and you can make goal.
  • aargh. I put the wrong reply in here, and edited the dang thing to include a link to the nutrition page and what I usually get ... and it went back to my original. And now I can't edit it out. Sorry.. That's what I get for having several conversations open at once. Oh, I see what happened. I did indeed post what I meant…

  • As everyone said, normal. Not to worry. For what it's worth, this is my chart for the past 90 days. I've been on maintenance since November, and gave myself a goal range of 140 to 145 lbs.
  • Decide how many calories you want to use at IHOP, choose here, and stick too it. :) http://www.ihop.com/-/media/ihop/PDFs/.ashx I'll usually go with 2 eggs easy over, 170 cals 2 slices bacon, 80 cals 1 slice whole wheat toast - about 110 1 tsp butteroid - about 25485 calories 2 poached eggs are 130 cals. I may do that next…

  • @kittehkitteh88 I've saved your recipe to my computer and to my phone. :)
  • I last got to my current weight when I was in my 30s. I had a hard time losing then, and more than gained back everything I'd lost. My current loss started when I was 61. I would never have believed it could be this easy. Calories in < calories out: lose weight. Calories in = calories out: Maintain. And it's so much easier…
  • I'm no good for makeup questions, but, as another woman with low-hanging flaps, I'd suggest that you try some sports bras. Many of those go for compression rather than cups. So you put it on, then pull the flesh upward until it's more or less where you want it. :) Many of them rise too high for V-necks, but they're fine…
  • What about getting one of those heavy-duty kitchen mats for your concrete floor? Something like this http://www.costco.com/Novaform-Home-24%22-x-60%22-Kitchen-Mat.product.100097539.html I don't know if this is the brand I got at Costco, but mine is more than an inch thick, and I can run in place on it barefoot.
  • I just had a week where I ate at maintenance, eating back all exercise calories, and went up 4 lbs over 5 days. I thought, maybe I should stop eating 'em all back. But I didn't, and went down 5 lbs overnight. So you now know not to eat every biscuit and sweet in sight (use the phone app!!), but may find the weight drops…
  • You can do it. I reached control at 63. Join us that way, too.
  • Yeah, I wouldn't have taken that backhanded compliment any farther, either.
  • Wow. You are doing yourself proud. Congratulations!
  • That is WONDERFUL! Congratulations!
  • That is beyond wonderful. Congratulations!
  • When you say you're on hold for therapy - does that mean you're on a waiting list? Is there anyone you can call about that? Bingeing, weeping, feeling out of control, having panic attacks - that's a scary way to live. And telling yourself that you'll become immobilizingly obese is immobilizing you now. I'm glad you're…
