Flexibility is something that has to be worked on for its own sake. I understand that weight lifters and runners, for example, will have reduced flexibility if they don't work on it consistently. Try adding something like yoga to your fitness regime.

^ That story is inspiring. Thank you.

My mom chewed gum nonstop for a year after she quit smoking.

I just read it. It seems like you had a very productive talk.

Yes, this is solid advice.

Pardon me for saying it, but you *CAN* give ultimatums. If something is important enough to a person that they would not want to remain in a relationship with their partner if the partner's behavior doesn't change, then it is fair to insist on change . . . or else. But then you'd have to be prepared to follow through. It…

How on earth can any program promise up to a 1000 calorie burn? That seems highly improbable to me.
-
Why would you give up so easily? Is the difference between burning 300 and 500 calories in 45 minutes so big?
-
This looks great--wish I had access to more than 5 lb weights.
-
Why would you be embarrassed that your own family can hear you exercising? Isn't exercise a good thing?

I'm a hair under 5'4", about 118 lbs. I wear a size 2 or 4 top and a size 4 or 6 bottom, so dresses are a bit tough to find.

Can you ask your parents to keep the peanut butter/snacks in a less convenient place? Like in their bedroom closet or junk drawer? If it is more difficult to get to, or you have to unlock it or ask for it, it may not be so easy to even start eating it.

I didn't get it from Pinterest.

I have read about these before. I think the idea is you do exercises on them like squats and the vibration challenges your balance, forcing them to work a bit harder than on a non vibrating surface. Sort of like a bosu ball. It's sometimes used for therapeutic purposes. For that purpose, it may be effective. But I don't…

I never did hear much about muffin tops before low-rise jeans had been in style for a good few years. I think that the increase in talk about muffin tops is due to the general increase in the population's weight, though. Ill-fitting low-rise pants are an unfortunate trend during a period when people are getting heavier.

I don't think that photo comparison is fair. Clearly, the person who created it had an agenda. Plus, showing one woman in motion in the midst of strenuous exercise while the other is resting means that no real comparison between the two can be made.

It should burn just about the same amount of calories as doing yoga in a non-heated room. A HRM in a yoga class is not likely to be very accurate.
-
Why should one person possibly ruin or make less pleasant the workouts of half a dozen people?

I've also sometimes responded to restless legs by drinking a cup of chicken broth for the salt and electrolytes. It may not be the best solution for that, however.

Have you balanced your running with a complementary program, such as yoga, to prevent getting stiffer and less flexible over time?

Yes, I've done live pilates classes before, though it's been a couple years. Right now, my budget doesn't allow me to sign up for any exercise classes (the exercise budget goes towards hubby and I dancing), so I'm looking for at-home routines. I'd be glad to find a good pilates program to do at home.

I'm sure you're right. It's a shame, in a way, because those short challenges seem like they ought to be a good introduction or way into exercising for those who have not been doing it. But tedium is not conducive to continuing to exercise.

Some people react more strongly to environmental stimuli than others. I get easily overwhelmed by sensory input, and while I can tune out occasional noises (coughing, grunting with a difficult effort), a continual low-level noise (like hearing the off-tune noise from someone's earbuds, or singing or humming, or a one-sided…

Thank you!

What if you don't like to listen to music while working out? Ear buds with no sound will not block out singing.
-
They are pilates style double leg lifts (done on the back).

Thank you, I will take a look at Loft/AT. I used to wear Express jeans all the time, but eventually decided I liked jeans with a higher rise. Perhaps they are making some now that high rise pants are more in fashion. I suspect that a good fit requires a bit of tailoring, which is a catch 22 for me, because my budget…

I've been doing it in rotation with 30DS. I'd be happy to join in.

I'd say let him be hungry. If he refuses to eat unless you do, its on him if it isn't enough. I'm concerned he'd place responsibility for his hunger on your shoulders.

That's a good idea. However, I don't have ankle weights or an incline bench of any kind at home. I guess I'd have to do some research to find how I can increase resistance.
