  • Along these lines- does anyone know of any good non-alcoholic wines that can give some of the satisfaction of the taste without the calories or alcohol?
  • I actually disagree that the chest strap is more accurate. For me it was always cutting out, and I get more reliable readings from a wrist-based HRM. I've been using a wrist-based HRM for about 2 years now-- the first year it was the Mio Link, and now I have a Garmin 235 with a built-in optical wrist-based HRM (I could…
  • Yes, it's great. Very popular in the summer. A very tough climb, but more of a workout than a hike. People keep track of their time, compete with themselves and others, and there are races up it a few times per year! I love doing it, but this year I haven't been able to much because of an ankle injury. Boo. I try to do it…
  • Yes, I think so. The "Garmin Connect Calorie Adjustment" might fix this, but I'm not sure. It seems like it might over-correct for other things so the net is still too high of a calorie allowance.
  • What? That doesn't sound right. So far today I have about 2500 steps and my adjustment is 25 calories.
  • I use a Garmin 235. It counts daily steps and I also use it to log my exercises, which get automatically sent here. However-- one error is that it sends total calories and not net, so it's over by about 50 calories per hour (keep that in mind if you have it synching automatically). MFP will also make a "Garmin Connect…
  • There is normally a huge mix of ages in these classes, although some are designed for seniors. Some are billed as aqua-jogging or pool-running and designed for younger people, too. It just depends on the pool. One thing to keep in mind, though-- it's pretty easy just to float along and not work very hard in these classes.…
  • I eat back some, but not all.-- probably about 75%. That's because I don't think I am REALLY earning as much as the log tells me. Be careful of programs (including this one!) that over-estimate calorie burn. Also, some days when I don't exercise, I tend to go over a bit-- this gives me a bit of a cushion. Also another bug…
