  • Well that sort of makes sense but what if your heart beats faster or you fidget a lot. Or you blink more or swallow more. Or you get a lot of minor injuries that your body is working to heal. Besides that did anyone look at the link I posted? Those amounts are significant in my opinion.
  • :( how do I not have cliché threads. I wanted to post something cuz it's been a while and I've been thinking about this. But now I'm sad I've had this a few times. I don't get it. I don't post things I see too often at least not exactly but I almost always get a comment that in some version calls it a cliché. I tried the…
  • So I just googled this. http://examine.com/faq/does-metabolism-vary-between-two-people.html/ The difference between 2 standard deviations is pretty large in my opinion. But I guess the only way I would know for sure is to track all of my intake very accurately and weight loss. And from my post you can probably tell I don't…
  • Mine varies a lot usually when I have a large loss I gain about half of it back the next day. But it depends.
  • Mine seems inaccurate like it is really just a function of height and weight. If I weight myself then take off my clothes and my weight goes down a little so does my body fat. Which makes no sense. In fact if it was accurately measuring it and I weigh less the percentage should go up because it is higher in propitiation to…
  • I've been losing about five a month. But I'm sure I could lose 10 or more if I stuck to my goals like at all.
  • Lol. Just thought I'd offer the possibility. Also I'm just generally a big proponent of therapy for everyone. Good luck. I hope you reach your goals.

  • Sometimes you need a break. And it's probably a good idea to learn how to maintain your weight. But this reminds me of something my therapist told me. Someone with an eating disorder often stalls out in their weight recovery ( up or down) when they are approaching a normal size. Have you considered you may have body image…

  • Yeah I have a very balanced approach. Probably too many days where I go off but I'm averaging about a pound a week which is my goal. You are doing much more than that so it can't be too bad. Maybe try to make it a little more balanced though. What you are describing sounds a little extreme like diet and binge which…
  • Well I do want to get a Fitbit. Because my phone isn't usually on my when I walk to the bathroom or kitchen at work or around my house. But it's in my purse going to my car or stores and it's always on me if I take a deliberate walk. But 10-15 minutes is only like 1500-2000 steps surprisingly. Anyway maybe I miss a lot of…
  • What!? When I try really hard to walk a lot I might reach '4,000 steps. Logged with my phone so I miss some but still. I would not consider 5,000 sedentary at all.
  • Well I've been on antidepressants for years. Some of them have lead to increased appetite which is a more common side effect. But have you considered that you are still depressed? Depression can lead to overeating and weight gain. Maybe the antidepressant is helping your mood enough that you are able to control your intake…
  • Yeah fruit by itself always leaves me hungrier. I struggle to eat enough fruit but I'm usually good on veggies so it evens out. Still new recommendations call for more than five a day. Berries are good they are high fiber and low gi. Also if this is more lifestyle than weight loss you do need to get into healthy habits.…
  • A lot of people. Especially of a certain size. Don't need a diet. They have an eating disorder and need therapy and lifestyle changes. Based on your responses and situation it sounds like this may be you. Can you see a therapist or at least a dietician? These things will help. I have an eating disorder so I understand. And…
  • Well my yoga instructor friend said they kicked her butt. And helped her lose weight for the first time in years. I've never done one.
  • There are many possible approaches to this. What works for me is starting small. Make little goals like eating a vegetable with each meal or bringing your lunch into work everyday and stick with that for a week then move on to the next one. Also for me I have found it helps to not t have an all or nothing attitude. Like I…
  • You could give a spoiler warning! Geeze
  • You should work on veggies. They are so important for health. Try as many as possible cooked different ways. For many, it's a texture issue so try cooking differently. What about in soup?

  • Well why are you exercising? For cardiovascular health? To burn calories, to tone up?
  • I'm sorry you are being asked that. Five pounds in a month is good. I'm down just over five in like six weeks. You'll get there when you get there and that's fine. Also try not to worry about stretch marks. They fade over time and blend in pretty well anyway.
  • Yeah I'm in the I don't want my thighs to rub together boat. This has already gone down significantly. I don't think a traditional thigh gap is attractive anymore.
  • Well you should. The number doesn't matter. As you know muscle weighs more than fat. My best friend started working out a lot. Same size clothes she rarely weighed herself and realized she was up about 15 pounds. But it's fine cuz it's not fat.
  • Update. I'm very big on talking so we had a conversation about this last night. He apparently is weighing himself he just didn't want to tell me.I think he's moving in the right direction.
  • Yeah well we are always talking and working on our relationship. In a lot of ways he's open to change but this is different obviously. It's a good point but it feels like a threat to let him know this will not be acceptable long term. Not that I'm opposed to honesty it just needs to be constructive. It really isn't how he…
  • We sometimes walk. I'm a little limited on that front though. I have some serious foot issues. Sadly I don't think the bed activities really count. Not sure what else we could do because of my limitations but I'm open to ideas.
  • Very good points! I know I shouldn't nag him. I just worry and think I'm working hard to overcome my issues and seeing this is possible so I wish he would follow suit. But he will in his time. I will try to focus on the positives more. I do sometimes point out stumbles and can see how that is counterproductive.
  • Well I don't try to hard on weekends. But it seems like you are definitely going overboard. Have you thought of trying to eat maintenance on the weekends? That should be attainable. I just don't track enough on the weekends either. Good luck. If you can cut down the weekends even a little your good weeks will make up for…
  • I agree. That's a decent pace. Just stay positive.
  • I've heard lost period more often results from heavy exercise than weight loss. If you are wanting to get pregnant you may need to cut back on exercising but I would think eventually your body may get used to it.
  • Also if you've lost that much you probably have excess skin and that has weight too.
