  • I'll add you. I have about 33 to go!
  • OP - Where did you get 24 cups of water? The 8 cups a day hasn't been scientifically proven. Typically people should get adequate water through a normal intake of food and drink throughout the day. Drinking more water over that will depend on your exercise, being outdoors when it's hot, medical conditions etc. Personally,…
  • OP - What has helped me is to have a collection of my own snacks at my desk (orbitz gum, cocoa flavored almonds, cheese sticks etc). Making a routine for my snacking helps a lot and I portion. On a typical day after lunch, I treat myself with 1-3 hershey kisses - then maybe some gum and if I'm still hungry a small protein…
  • I know what you're talking about because I have this. I also thought it was caused by my underwear (which for the longest time was like an inch of elastic sitting in between the top of my thigh and my hip bone every day all day. When I changed underwear to not be so restrictive in that inch width that dip became slightly…
  • On a typical day I will have a snack bar or almonds 1-2 hours before a work-out (I will feel sluggish if I don't). Dinner is about an hour after. On weight lifting days, I try to get a half cup of liquid protein soon after the work out is over to help my muscles rebuild.
  • Alecia, this is your time and you can totally do it. Take advantage of your boyfriend doing this with you; it makes a world of difference to have someone right there making the same steps. Feel free to friend me.
  • Heck yea, avocado is amazing. I finally tried cooking with coconut oil. Couldn't tell a huge difference between it and olive oil taste-wise, but I heard it's better to cook with.
  • I totally get it. My bigger chest prevents me from fitting in clothes that fit my hips and waist. Could you arrange a night out with this same group of college friends and wear a more casual, going-out-dress that makes you feel as equally amazing?
  • I'm moving back to St.Louis county at the end of August. I need to start researching gyms. Anyone feel free to add me.

  • Get immediately back on that wagon. If your long term goals seem too overwhelming make one small goal. When you keep at it, add another small goal. You would be surprised how quickly we can make healthy choices into habits. And remember this current frustration you are having and let it drive you.

  • HOUSTON! Probably moving in a few months though to 'not Texas'.

  • I'm not sure where I could have been more clear.
  • OP - similar to nvsmomketo I recommend at least learning about keto diets or something like South Beach diet. When I'm craving something sweet I can't stop at just one serving so I've found it best that I cut out most high carb and sugar foods. South Beach asks you to cut out carbohydrates and sugars for 2 weeks - "Phase…
  • I generally try to phase everything out when I'm at the gym, but: - I also don't like when people talk loudly on the phone right next to me. - When guys specifically linger really close and face me, seemingly doing nothing. - Take up a lane at the gym pool doggy paddling around, standing in one place to do aerobics, or…
  • I have a sedentary job, but around 3:30pm is when I usually get tired and try to make excuses to get out of my after-work workout. At that time it really helps when I drink either an 8oz cup of coffee, or some pre-workout powder that has caffeine mixed into water. Have you also thought about going home after work, resting,…
  • Feel free to send me a request. I'm about 1/3 to my goal as well.
  • I have several techniques with about an 80% success rate: 1. I imagine my mom's cold glare of disappointment. 2. I imagine that the food was contaminated with spider or roach eggs, or worms. 3. I pretend to be snobby by thinking "OMG Gross" and dramatically walk away.
  • You're off to a great start! You may add me as well.
  • Mayo Clinic is a good reputable source; they have a ton of pages on caffeine. This one says it's safe for adults to have 400mg (4 cups of coffee) a day, and high caffeine levels (500-600+mg) will start causing muscle tremors, restlessness, fast heartbeat etc. I've found this to be fairly accurate for myself. I usually…

  • I haven't read the studies you're talking of, but I try not to overdo the sweetners regardless. Splenda is my main source of "sweetness" on a daily basis. My reasoning is this - I have a massive sweet tooth and I'm on Atkins so instead of going to cookies, cake etc. I grant myself a splenda dessert or even a diet soda to…
  • Hi Lori. Welcome to MFP. Feel free to add me as a friend.

  • I have been non-stop listening to the Sound of Music soundtrack at work. Non. Stop.
  • OP - I think you are normal to want food after exercise. There are studies that show exercise can increase appetite, and you are more likely to reward yourself (often with food) for a job well done exercising. It helps me to workout before a meal that I already have pre-planned (so usually after work and before dinner) and…
  • I'm low carb so my go to is a romaine or iceberg lettuce with cherry tomatoes, black olives, shredded mozzarella, chopped onion if there's time, and sliced turkey or ham lunch meat, top with vinaigrette. For a different route you could try chicken salad. I buy the canned white premium chicken from SAMs Club. Drain/pour…

  • I used to only have coffee for breakfast, but now if I don't have two eggs with 1 or 2 bacon I get cranky. I try to get a 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese also if it's available. Weekends I'll add a few baby dill pickles and a few slices of cheddar and call it the "astronaut breakfast" - purely because I have a NASA mug…
  • Hello. I'm Suzanne. 26 years old. I was introduced to South Beach Diet when an OBGYN and hormone specialist recommended it when I was just 15 years old (200lbs); It wasn't definitive, but symptoms showed I had insulin resistance, and possibly PCOS (I ended up not having this). After starting South Beach at 15, I gained it…
