I love it. I did it by the program for about 10 months, was a complete newbie to lifting and took the advice of some mfp friends who have been lifting for a long time and am still riding linear progression for as long as I can. I still run it but I have added accessories for the past couple months to help me transition…

5'4 SW: 207 CW:181 GW:170 I have a bodybuilding focus, losing body fat and preserving lean mass have been my objectives since I started a year ago

Kind of an oddity here by wanting to stay heavier but I am 5'4 SW: 207 CW: 181 GW: 170. I started off at a slight deficit a year ago and worked on learning how to lift with the goal of reducing body fat and preserving lean mass. I am close to my goal weight and will be working on bodybuilding and recomposition. At 181, I…

I hear ya, I've used the active.com measurement guide before too and it put me at a lower bf% than I really was. I stopped tracking those measurements to use for that purpose. Go by what you visually see.
-
guides like these have always helped me. Unless you can get a dexa scan, these help as a visual guage.

I like your analogy. To me, it describes our base bio mechanics. What is lifting/dragging 500 lbs of carcass, chopping trees and chasing game? Do it long enough and the body responds by structurally getting efficient at it.

BUAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAAA this meme is great *saves*

A) the actual first training video I watched was the one that you posted for form advice, cheers on that one. Following that is what I've been using as a form guide. Arch and a little bit wider than shoulder width to balance the bar. The stalling gets the most intensive in the 4th rep at the bottom. I struggle in the…

@BecomingBane good advice here, thank you. I wanted to ask you what your recommendation would be for this situation: I'm a complete noob and following mehdi's 5x5 and am in month 5, I was reading that when your squat gets to x1.5 bw it's time to switch to madcow 5x5. I don't want to be presumptuous and will be in a deficit…

Are you talking about resting at the top for additional seconds? A failed rep to me is not being able to get out of the hole or get the weights back to starting position. If u are resting a little longer between each rep but are still able to complete to your set, I don't think that's a fail necessarily.
-
WOW @Cardi333 GREAT CURVES. I also lift heavy, adding you now. :)

I'm an introvert too, what helped me was following the stronglifts 5x5 app on my phone. I spent some time learning via videos how to do the lifts. Fumble around a bit with the power rack my first few times but kept consistent, kept my eyes in front of me and on my phone to check-in my progress. The confidence came later…

B) Very cool reflection. Thank you for sharing it. Congrats on your success!

Lol more like the Vietnamese Pho I eat in america makes me fat. Since weighing my food, I never knew how many calories I was consuming in a bowl. A big bowl can easily be over 1000 cals. and you are more likely to eat 2 bowls a day when it's made.

LOL thanks @suziecue20 my mom makes me laugh all the time, she a funny lady

Interesting thread @ninerbuff :) . My brother and I came over here with my parents when we were just 6 and 3 from Laos and I'd have to say "yes". We have cousins who are close in age to us over there and they are tiny compared to us. Really my whole family over there is tiny both in height and weight. With easy…

Great stuff to take into next week's training, Thank you @LolBroScience

Your analogy makes complete sense. 1. Got it 2. Noted 3. I started out with no lifting goals as far as reaching a certain 1RM, intend to progressively overload until I hit a point where I am able to only do 1RM. From just seeing the lifting goals of others, a lot say they want to 1RM their body weight. I've surpassed that…

Thank you @DavPul, this is exactly why I wanted to ask these questions. I didn't know it was counter effort to what I was trying to initially do.
-
It looked like a good intermediary way to improve squats while deloading.

:( i feel your pain with every excruciating status update. I see you have taken up some photo arts and crafts during your down time LOL

Thanks Isaack ::hugz:: somehow I knew you would be the first one to save my thread  You have seen my progress since the beginning, your advice and knowledge is always greatly appreciated. Sure does feel pretty damn good to go heavy!

Agree. I tried sumos this week and they felt good and I could do them, went back to conventional because that's how I initally learned how to do them, it felt more comfortable. Could probably enjoy sumo as well with some practice.

Thanks for this, that is how I originally set my calories was for the maintenance calories for my target weight. Great to see some backing to the method
