I've tried it. I waited until I wasn't quite a beginner to give it a go, so while it really worked to help me get lean, I stalled out in about 2 months. I wish I had done it when I first started lifting.

I love it. I did it by the program for about 10 months, was a complete newbie to lifting and took the advice of some mfp friends who have been lifting for a long time and am still riding linear progression for as long as I can. I still run it but I have added accessories for the past couple months to help me transition into my new program. When I stall, I deload and/or I do the 3x3 or 3x5 to help with progression.

Although, I am switching to a more bodybuilding type program at the end of the month, I learned a lot going through SL5x5 and love the big 3. I won't ever stop working on getting those numbers up. Learning the foundations wise, it's a great program, made some great newbie gains.

It's the first programme I used to gain size strength and muscle and highly recommend it. I'm doing more power lifting training these days but revert back to 5x5 if I want to get the balance of reps and heavy lifts in
