  • I dont count them, but I dont go mad either. The reality is the dressing or oil they are cooked is going to be more calories than the veg. I count that. Once upon a time, Id weigh a clove of garlic, dont bother now.
  • Doctors arent particularly knowledgeable people sadly They sit in room for many hours being told things, and spend many more hours reading books they were told to read. If the lecturer was wrong, or the book was wrong, or they just remember poorly, what they tell you is little different to what the man in the pub says. If…
  • Well, you've lost than 10% of your weight, so having lost more than 10% of your dress size is pretty good Obviously not quite that simple....
  • I'm a guy, but I've gone from a 36" waist to 32" in 40lbs So if you lost two inches in 20lbs, that sounds about right.
  • Not to say no, but its a bit of a leap, constipation is a pretty unusual symptom if parasites, weightloss is more normal.... Fun fact At any one time 10% of the population has threadworm
  • I do using an impedance scale. Mine went from 33% to 23%, pretty linear, as I lost weight. My none fat weight has been pretty stable at 120lbs. Why do you think it should be changing?
  • Unlikely to be a sensible routine, what are your goals, what is your current situation?
  • "What you can't do is just randomly step on and know with any degree of certainty that reading is anywhere accurate. So if you want to know if you are 15 or 17% they aren't really gone to be much help." True enough, but 15% or 20% they will give you a fair crack at a good answer. I'm at 23% at the moment, that might be…
  • A bucket of cement is considerably heavier than a bucket of cotton wool, which is the point. That a pound of anything weighs the same as a pound of anything else is not a useful piece of information and its certainly not worth the religious fanaticism its imbued with. For a given volume, muscle is some 18% heavier than…
  • I would argue they are accurate enough. What do you want them for is the question. If you keep telling yourself, "its mostly muscle", they are accurate enough to say "no it b****y isnt"
  • I am 10kg lighter than I was If I get up, I lift 10kg less of me when I do so. It does seem unfair but its the sad reality,
  • Yeah, and cement weighs the same as cotton wool....
  • I dont get the point I really dont But it depends what you mean my cheat day I suppose. I'm on an awful deprivation diet for 9 weeks to get to my target, why would I drag that out for 18 weeks by eating half my weekly losses every seventh day? I'd much rather have a small 150 calorie bar of chocolate everyday rather than 5…
  • I walked 3.6 miles to college each way (although that was to save money for beer rather than excercise, although I was super skinny and ate everything), 2.8 miles to work each way.
  • You arent hungry all the time, your body is simply used to eating all the time. If you normally eat breakfast, and skip it one day, your body tells you you are hungry, rally really hungry, used to happen to me all the time. Now, I dont eat breakfast, and I dont feel hungry until after 1pm. I used to eat a big sandwich and…
  • I'm now at the point where I have a protein shake at around 2pm, my main meal at around 6pm, and a treat around 9 if I fancy it (35g chocolate bar, spoonful of peanut butter/chocolate spread ect) I dont attribute any magical powers to fasting, beyond if I ate earlier, I wouldnt eat less later, I'd just eat extra earlier. I…
  • At first I did, it fluctuates, now, I do it weekly if I remember. Once you get in to the swing of things, its less interesting
  • Depends really, I used to get quite bad and long lasting soreness after hard excercise, A Protein Shake a day (Whey, 262cals) keeps the muscle pain away. For me.
  • Music Competition The point isnt so much to run, its to run faster than last time.
  • I love my charge HR, its great for me, Yes, you can use other stuff, but that requires effort, and you cant really use map my run to count the steps to the water cooler or the coffee machine like you can the mile to the sandwich shop and back. Mile here, mile there, its adds up, fast.
  • Everyone is evangelical. Its more noticeable in vegans because they are so outside of the norm. I'm pretty chilled, but even I'll admit I'm a bit evangelical about things like CICO being great and HIIT being rubbish for weight loss. I'm sure many of you read the first one and thought something like, you cant evangelise…
  • Its hard to beat a protein shake for cost/calorie/protein ratio. Low fat greek yoghurt is fairly cost effective, Tuna, Chicken, Prawn are fairly calorie effective, but cost a lot more. TBH, I dont really worry about it, unless I'm getting some sort of excessive muscle soreness.
  • For weight, all that matters is calories 20gm isnt a "ton" of protein, a protein shake will roock up at around 60g and 250cal TDEE is total daily energy expenditure, the number of calories you "burn" per day. Burn 2000 and eat 1500, lose weight Burn 2000 and eat 2500, gain weight Doesnt matter if its broccoli or bigmacs

  • Weightloss, bragging and food. I'll burn 500-600 calories on a run, thats a lot of food I get to eat and stick within my calories.
  • 5-10 a day sounds like a lot. I dont believe there are any health risks, but, I have chickens, and I frequently get bored of eggs

  • buy a set of measuring spoons. Start at a tablespoon, you'll soon be on half a tablespoon, then a teaspoon, then half a teaspoon, and so on.
  • Sabaton - Heroes Iron maiden - Rock in Rio (edit out the talky bits) + Brave new world
  • It just means not changing, so jogging is steady state. Alternating sprints and walks is not steady state. Mowing the lawn is a pretty steady, unless you run parts and walk others, or have to climb a mountain for parts
  • I weigh everyday, sometimes several times, I only record the dips. I dont obsess over it, but I do make note of it, if I'm not losing, I make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.
