Somehow I missed that Jason Momoa had been cast as Aquaman. I am much more interested in the Justice League movie now. Oh, and the blood type diet is the hokumiest hokum that ever hokumed.

My GERD pretty much subsided when I quit my old job. Unfortunately, that's rarely a practical solution.

I cook chicken breasts in my slow cooker all the time. Just add enough liquid. It is better for when you want to shred the meat (for, say, chicken salad) or make chicken soup, though. Slow cookers are also great for beans. (Couldn't tell you the last time I bought beans in a can.)

You can totally overdose on vitamins, especially the ones that are fat-soluble and stored in the body. (You, uh, pee out most of the excess with the water-soluble ones.) Over-supplementing is a bigger cause of hypervitaminosis than diet, in fact.

I like the recumbent bike and the elliptical for not hurting my back. You can increase and decrease the resistance levels to get the effect you want.

I supplement B12 and D on my doctor's orders, because my last blood test showed me to be deficient in both.
-
I dunno. The VA doctor just tested for that along with everything else at my last annual appointment, which was a couple of weeks ago. (Turns out I'm deficient in both D and B12, so now I'm supplementing both at her direction.) Generally, if your doctor thinks there's a reason to order the test, your insurance should cover…

I haven't found a low-calorie option that I particularly liked, but Tofutti makes pretty good "frozen non-dairy dessert." And the Tofutti Cuties are their mini ice cream sandwiches, which might be relevant to your interests.

Like everyone else said, talk with a doc first. But I have a bad back (four bulging discs), and what I've found helpful has been low-impact cardio (such as the elliptical machine or swimming) and Pilates (with appropriate modifications to the movements as necessary. An experienced instructor should be able to help you with…

I use the Tickr, and it's been pretty solid so far. Glad to hear the X is working out for you.

But I love that Youtube channel. It's hilarious.

I had to for a little over two months when I was in basic training, over a decade ago. It was a miserable experience, and I am not ever going to do it again. Actually, if you take the coffee intravenously, it doesn't count as drinking it, right? I could drink nothing but plain water for a month if that's the case. I know…

Hey, 27% is in the "moderately lean" range, so don't get discouraged. (Though I feel you. I just got a Bod Pod done, and my body fat percentage turned out to be rather higher than I thought. Kind of a blow to the ego.)

Salt is salt. The rest is marketing fluff.

My best friend is the same way. I know it's because she feels insecure about her own weight, but it's aggravating. We live in different states, though, so it's not a huge impact on me. If you haven't outright told her that your fitness is important to you, and you wish she'd be supportive, then try spelling it out. If she…

Oh, man. I don't have any advice on the steroid hunger, because I was not able to refrain from stuffing my face with everything in site when I was on prednisone. Maybe try high-fiber veggies and stuff to make you feel fuller without too many calories? As far as the movement goes, I find that keeping active helps my joints*…

I took my amount of lean body mass (so you need to know your body fat percentage to do it this way), figured out about what body fat percentage I wanted to aim for, and figured out how much weight that would be if I managed to maintain my lean body mass. So for me, it worked out that 125 lbs should put me at about 20%.…

I would see a doctor. If it is a nerve problem, it's better to find that out sooner than later.

Since there aren't any calories, you're not actually going to gain weight from diet soda. There was a study that found a correlation between increased waist circumference among diet soda drinkers over the age of 65, but correlation does not equal causation. It might be possible that diet soda affects your appetite or…

It's lupus. Seriously, though, I would find a new doctor if you don't think your current one is giving you an adequate standard of care.

The Ancient Aliens guy has faith in you, and so do I. You can do it!

I use these for lunches to take to work when I've been too busy/ill/forgetful to prepare something. Quite a few of them aren't awful on the sodium front. Not great, but not awful. (I do have to monitor sodium for medical reasons.) They're generally better than hitting up a restaurant for lunch. So, y'know, they're an okay…

Poo swapping is not, and hopefully never will be, the answer to any of my prayers.

Let's not discuss exactly how much coffee I drink during the day, haha. I take it with Splenda and a bit of soy milk if I'm at home. If I'm at work, I use the powdered non-dairy creamer instead of soy milk.

I'm at 46% carbs, 30% fat, and 24% protein. Basically worked backwards from 90g protein. I'm trying to lose about ten pounds and maintain my lean body mass. (If I can do that, it should get me to about 20% body fat.)

I use a flavored pea/sacha inchi protein mix (it's about 60/40), and I haven't had an issue with the flavor. But I do hear that unflavored pea protein is bit hard to mask. I haven't found a rice protein powder that isn't super-gritty. Soy is, in my experience, pretty easily mixed and inoffensive in flavor.

Me, too! Living in the Great Frozen North (DC) these days, though.

Lactaid is like playing Russian roulette, but with your intestines. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Luckily, there are a lot more dairy-free alternatives than there used to be. Unfortunately, there's still a lot of surprise lactose in things you wouldn't expect to find it in. Watch out for ingredients like "milk…
