  • For me weighing daily (or as close as I can get to that) is crucial. If I stop weighing I find myself slowly slipping into weight gain. It’s happened a few times over the last several years. Last time I stopped weighing myself because I broke my ankle and literally couldn’t step on the scale. Fast forward over a year and a…
  • I started a little over 2 months ago (on Jan 1) and I am down 5 or 6 lbs. I feel like it’s really going slowly as well. ( I am 5’8 » , 46 years old, female and weigh about 88 or 87.5 kg right now). A few reasons why I think it’s going slowly for me - I’ve done this several times before. I think it gets harder every time.…
  • Hi all, Thanks for your helpful comments. Right now I am vacillating between feeling pretty good about my slow and steady rate and feeling really frustrated. I am at 88.6 on Happy scale and I was at 88.9 last Friday, so a 0.3 kg or 2/3 lb loss for the week. Not nothing but not a lot either. I am feeling good because I am…
  • I really struggle with this, especially at night. Something that help me sometimes: Drinking an herbal tea, maybe with a little honey to get a little sweetness hit Snàcking on something like raspberries - they are sweet enough to feel like they are a bit of a dessert and take a while to eat Drinking a flavored bubbly water…

  • Ugh I can totally empathize. I just came on here to ask a similar question. I just broke my ankle on Saturday. Bare minimum six weeks before I am off crutches and the 4 months before I can or do anything super active. I am worried about gaining weight through lack of exercise but even more than I am so worried about…
  • I would be hungry after such an early dinner - so I would eat dinner later or have a snack. But when I get late night munchies shortly after eating and I am not really legitimately hungry my new trick is drinking some herbal tea (I LOVE stash cinnamon apple chamomile with a little bit of honey added).
  • I meant to say I *set* myself a goal and it was losing 11 kgs, not 12! 😊
  • I live in Seattle too and summer is beautiful - gorgeous weather for all of July & August and at least some of September!
  • I often have a non-fat vanilla chobani greek yogurt with blueberries. Really yummy and surprisingly filling for only about 140 cals. Also works reallly well with walnuts, but they add up calorie-wise
  • About 4 and half or 5 lbs. not bad but was hoping for a little bit more.
  • Great job!!!! (My cats know about all of my successes!)
  • I would swap bagels or eggos for something with protein the morning - eggs or yogurt? (I usually have a chobani non-fat vanilla with blueberries - really yummy and only like 130 cals) And then I would add LOTS of veggies. I stick cabbage and peppers on my sandwiches. I snack on cabbage and baby carrots. Not many calories…
  • Champagne!!! Around 95 cals per glass. Definitely worth it. (Prosecco and Cava also hit the spot)
  • I mainline caffeine via coffee and Coke Zero and I’ve lost 20 lbs since March. But seriously black coffee isn’t going to contribute to weight gain. I would only think it could help make you feel a little fuller and also (very very slightly) increase metabolism.
  • I’ve been making a pretty tasty sandwich: nice whole grain bread, turkey, ultra thin sliced cheddar, lettuce, red cabbage and red peppers. Plus some Amy’s honey mustard and yellow mustard. About 350 or 400 cals, really tasty and keeps me full for hour. Keeps well in a U konserve tin.
  • Not sure at all about exact numbers but I felt like when I was breastfeeding there was a different between a ravenous infant and an extended breastfeeding toddler. The latter didn’t seem to burn as many calories. Two hundred sounds about right
  • Update!!! I went to a party for my daughter’s co-op preschool and a mom who I am friendly with but only see about once every month or so was like “ oh my god have you lost weight you loo great”. Kind of made my evening 😊(especially since I was eating chocolate chip cookies at the time!) But in all seriousness you guys are…
  • Thanks everyone! Comforting to know I’m not alone. Trying to remind myself today that it was only one day and I can just keep continuing Doug what I’m doing (Especially important because when I weighed myself today I was up 1.3 lbs - rationally I KNOW that can’t be from eating 4 cookies and a little chocolate - probably…
  • No definitely not - they weighed me at home on a scale they brought, whatever clothes I was wearing that day. (It was a sleep study for one of my kids - they weighed him too!). But yes I guess that could account for a tiny bit of the difference but not much
  • YES YES YES
  • Not weighing myself. I was so scared of the number on the scale that I just completely buried my head in the sand. Was already heavy and didn’t realize I had gained at least 10 or 15 more pounds.
  • Brisk walking is definitely not enough for me. I walked my usual 3.5 mile walk around our lake 113 times last year (I counted!) and was generally active (average of about 18,000 steps per day but I still gained about 10 lbs. For me weight loss is all about eating fewer calories. Exercise is great for health & feeling good.…
  • Yes!!! Since I avoided weighing myself for so many years I had *no idea* how much weight could fluctuate day to day or even minute to minute. It’s been really helpful slowly realizing this! I am no longer freaking out at the daily changes. As long as the trend is downwards I am happy 😊
  • Definitely both. I’ve always been great with cardio (mostly walking several times a week) but I’ve recently added strength training and I’m loving it! (Well not when I’m actually doing it - it’s hard!!!)
  • Thanks everyone! It doesn’t really matter to much to me anyways - I was excited to see clothes were starting to look a little better - even if they are the same size!
  • I’m only about a month in this time around, but I feel like this is the first time in about 9 years that I feel positive and in control about weight loss. This is what’s working for me now: I examined every situation I feel like I usually over eat - and I am finding strategies for them. For example I used to always…
  • This is a BIG issue for me - I snack at night cuz I’m bored and tired and also sometimes feeling stressed or sad. Things that have been working for me at least a little: - eating a big bowl of red cabbage with a small amount of honey ginger dressing or plain. The cabbage has very few calories and it’s tasty and takes…
  • Thanks everyone! Probably too much info but my period started today and now I’m back down to 86.7 kilos. Hoping that was it! (Also I did have a take out Indian meal Friday evening - probably high in salt). And another good point - I don’t have a constistent “ way” or time I weigh myself. I am always wearing clothes and…
  • I am naturally a big after-dinner snacker - I could easily polish off 3 ice cream bars or a BIG bowl of sugary cereal. Trying super hard to not snack now. I’ve been eating big dinners pretty late (mostly because my husband gets home really late and he often cooks). Then I just go to bed. Or I might have a Coke Zero or…
  • It has an excercise mode? I didn’t know that! Thanks !
