I got one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077RXM292?th=1 It's decent and syncs well - the only caveat is that you have to have GPS turned on on your phone for the app to communicate with the scale, which I find irritating - I could understand when it was initially pairing, but not for every time you weight…

It's underway! Classics Challenge 2020 has crossed the start line. Still plenty of time to join in, if you haven't already - see the directions in the opening message

Ahem. First event is Saturday 1st Feb, not 2nd

Draft! Double post - please ignore this one

Blitzed all of them I could find - 9 threads so far

I use a Mio Link wrist-based HR monitor (bought 2nd-hand from the estimable BigYin) linked to my Garmin 1000, which I'm very pleased with. I have no real way of telling whether it's accurate, but it corresponds pretty well to my perceived effort, and is very consitent in the readings from ride to ride and in all kinds of…

don't care which, as long as we pick one - but I think farcebook wins by default, because there's just so little traffic here

I know nothing about it, other than the mailing I just received, but this looks pretty cool: https://www.refactorfitness.com/ Combined GPS comp, light and camera unit. Not mentioning any price yet, so probably insanely expensive, but I might be pleasantly surprised

@TheBigYin Mark - I'm happy to volunteer for the spreadsheetery (might actually give me enough of a kick in the *kitten* department to get some automation off the ground) - I'm unlikely to be riding many/any weekends this year, so there will (sadly) be precious few ride/update conflicts
-
@nelja I did 6803km last year, smashing my PR by nearly 2400Km, haven't set a target for this year yet, but probably aiming around the same for this year

Unexpectedly, got an extra ride in, #349 for the year. Car is off the road, so did in-laws shopping on 2 wheels instead of 4. Sat 30 - 12.56 miles: MTD 120.21 / 166.6, YTD 4223.92 / 4000 That really is it for the year now - best wishes to all and a happy new year (shortly)

December has been a bit of a wash-out for me, for various reasons, but this is my month: Mon 04 - 24.09 miles Wed 06 - 24.05 miles Thu 07 - 24.05 miles Fri 08 - 24.03 miles Sat 09 - 5.5 miles Wed 27 - 5.93 miles: MTD 107.65 / 166.6, YTD 4211.36 / 4000 Satisfied with the year overall, but disappointed with the way it…

Sorry, very slightly belatedly, I got around to checking the bike frame, and it is indeed a 56.

Well and truly into "coughing my lungs up" season, so looks like yesterday's ride was the end of my month. Mon 27 - 24.05 miles: MTD 394.6 / 309.4, YTD 4103.71 / 4000 Weirdly, my lungs are OK on the bike, albeit I'm a bit down on energy, but once I get off it...!

The month so far: Wed 01 - 24.04 miles Thu 02 - 27.95 miles Fri 03 - rest Sat 04 - rest Sun 05 - rest Mon 06 - 24.06 miles Tue 07 - 24.12 miles Wed 08 - 24.03 miles Thu 09 - 24.01 miles Fri 10 - 24.06 miles Sat 11 - rest Sun 12 - rest Mon 13 - 24.09 miles Tue 14 - 24.04 miles Wed 15 - 24.25 miles Thu 16 - 28.96 miles Fri…

Why should I replace a bike which is being repaired at no cost? Given that the main and spare bike are perfectly suited to the commuting which is 99% of my riding, why should I ride a bike which is worse at the purpose for which it's being used than the bike I have available? I'm going to stop there, because this thread is…

Renting to cover the period I was without my main bike would have cost more than buying a new bike! Even the local renters say that long term (more than a few days) is uneconomic. Also, a rental would be unlike to have arrived with bike rack suitable for my paniers. I have a 2nd "same" bike, because it's the bike I…

Moderately chilly on the commute this morning - a balmy -3.2C. Time to break out the lobster gloves if this cool snap continues
-
Highest 224, lowest since using MFP 159, current 178, target to get down to ~156 and then add muscle to maybe 170-ish
-
That's lovely in theory - in practise however, sometimes it's not that clear-cut. For example: I had one of my gear changers fail under warranty (dropped me into lowest gear and ouldn't change). Went back to the bike shop for exchange, and took exactly 4 weeks for the warranty replacement to come back from the…

In, and aiming for 350 miles this month.
-
34%?! That's not a "gradient", that's a wall
-
I still haven't given up hope of getting something (simpler) started along similar lines, but finding time has been a real challenge. Maybe when this contract finishes...

I'm still here riding, doing about 100 miles a week commuting, closing in on my 4000m target for the year. To be honest, my motivation for longer rides really tailed off when cycleagues died, and weekend rides are always a rarity for me due to domestic harmony taking precedence.

End of month check-in: 462 miles this month, just beating target of 448; ytd 3709 heading towards hopefully comfortably beating target of 4000

My main bike, Cannondale CAADX105 My old/backup bike, Quest Audax:

Started at 54 and 220 pounds, dropped 60 pounds over the course of about 15 months, on 1750 target food but generally not eating back all my exercise calories (about another 800-1000 per day from cycling)
-
That's a hell of a lot of calories to burn every day - just to sanity check whether your Fitbit is being 'optimistic', what exercise are you doing to clock up that much? One other question - are you setting your activity level as high? You may be effectively double-counting some of your calories by activity level and…

If you're open to acquiring some equipment, there are masses of TRX (and equivalent) videos available, either from TRX themselves or for free on Youtube, that target the core
