  • I agree with TeaBea. I think you have hit on one of the things that makes this so successful...if you eat what you enjoy in moderation and you also enjoy the physical activity, it is not a chore to keep it up. Good luck! R
  • Woo hoo! Make sure to set a realistic lifestyle to maintain and be happy! R
  • So many factors go into weight on the scale! Food in your system, fluid retention, etc... You can't weigh yourself so often. Instead, set some other metric as your measurement of success - how your pants fit, staying under your cvalorie goals, etc. The good stuff will follow! You are measuring the wrong thing! BTW, I hit a…
  • Lots of threads about this. Stretching, warm baths, light cardio, massage, hydration. Ease up if you hurt two days after exercise. There, I summed up about 20 threads for you. :-) Enjoy the burn! R
  • I only pre plan if I am going out to dinner and or know that I will be having a big meal during the day. Then I plan my other meals and snacks around it to get close to my target. R
  • Congrats! Why 180? At your height 199 is a pretty good weight. You could even gain some weight with muscle mass. Overall fantastic job! R
  • OK OK - you got me. :-) However, there is still something to the eating pattern. R
  • Um, What the heck are the macros on that meal? 650 cals is huge for me for a meal, and UI am 6'2", 226 lb.... R
  • I find both to be very necessary. Cardio to burn more calories, and lifting to build lean body mass which will help increase your daily burn rate - not to mention it makes you look and feel better. As people noted, you can lose weight without either, but then you have to more severely restrict your daily caloric intake.…
  • I think you can't discount the results, regardless of the biochemistry behind it. Search for "how do sumo wrestlers gain weight".. they don't eat breakfast and then eat late and go to sleep. I think spreading calories somewhat evenly works best for me, but I do fall into the smaller breakfast category, FWIW. I have lost…
  • Welcome! Is this a philosophical choice or do you think you need to cut all meat (does that include poultry and fish?) to lose weight? If it is philosophical that is your choice and I applaud you for making it. However, you can still eat meat and lose weight... R
  • Coconut water gives a lot more potassium than supplements... Give it a shot! R
  • One other point...a serving of coconut milk is 550mg so we are not talking about unsafe levels, no matter what. But a question... There are supplements (I just ordered from Amazon) with a lot more than 99 mg. I wonder how. R
  • Actually, there are over the counter supplements for potassium at 500 plus mg... So what he said is not incorrect. The only question is whether it is really necessary. R
  • You are going to have to carry your own food for a true diet like this. Hard to do for extended trips! The other thing you can do is order certain dishes but just leave the stuff you can't eat. R
  • You can have a very convenient breakfast without a big shake. If I am on the run I have a fiber one bar and a Greek yogurt. Or add a couple of hard boiled eggs. R
  • This is the problem, not the solution. I think I need a quarter pounder with cheese to move things along! R
  • This has been my biggest issue... My body does not know how to handle the change in calories, even though it is almost 5 months since I started losing weight. I have tried almost everything listed above - trying too much, then too little, then in the middle (in terms of volume eaten of these things). I have not found the…
  • Your best bet is real food. Supplements are really not ideal unless there is a need to get in more protein (for example) without carbs. If you have a lot of weight to lose, you should start with a good, clean diet (and I don't mean a fad diet). Find out how many calories you should have, figure out your macros (like 40%…
  • California is one of the healthiest places to find good food... BUT, if you are talking about fast food, you are in for the same crap as in every other state! You just need to find the healthier choices at these places (salads with chicken, grilled chicken sandwiches, etc.). When I travel I use google maps and just put in…
  • I am not a doctor, but as long as you are under treatment (meds, etc.) there is no reason to think that you will be any different than other people. Exercise, eat right (log your calories!) and eat like a type II diabetic (low sugar, and only complex carbs). The laws of the universe will allow you to lose weight! R
  • Shrimp, frozen fish from Costco etc (Salmon, Ahi, Flounder, Sea Bass), Canned Tuna, chicken, chicken, chicken, ground turkey, lean ground beef, egg beaters, protein shakes, the list goes on forever! :-) R
  • I don't think you have to be a huge cook to eat healthy. There are so many convenient foods that are easy to prepare (like frozen fish, pre-cooked chicken breasts, etc.). You have to look at junk food and fast food as a threat! Like @Therealobi1 said, start with logging and you will be shocked to see what that stuff is…
  • What is holistic nutrition, exactly? R
  • Hot baths, stretching and then ease back into it. You really shouldn't be this sore 48 hours or more later. Try to reduce a little weight and work up to what you did last time. R
  • I don't know - once I classified that stuff as bad, I don't really crave it. My goal is so important to me, that junk is merely a threat now. I think the key is really embracing your health and your body. R
  • Duh - I forgot stretching...that is key....both before and after! R
  • Hi...keep reminding yourself that these folks are really not there to judge you. Try to go when it is not that busy, and dress conservatively. Remember, no one is really looking at your treadmill screen, and everyone has different strategies for how much time they spend, etc. You are there for YOU...no one else. You don't…
  • Being sore is ok - try warm baths and light cardio - my daughter is a gymnast and using the elliptical for 20 mins at a light pace really helps her. Hydrate and rest. If it is worse after 24 hours you should tell your trainer that you need to back down the intensity. R
  • Take a break from exercise... I tend to lose weight after a break as you will lose water when you give yourself a break. R
