  • I was kind of surprised at all of the Flintstones Vitamins... :-) * Vit C * Vit D (really in vogue right now) * Co Q10 (good for statins which deplete it) * Fish Oil (supposedly will allow me to live forever) * Potassium (only when I am getting leg cramps) * Occasional ZMA (Zinc, Magnesium and B6) * Occasional multi vit -M
  • Personally, no matter when I workout I like to take in 300-350 cals an hour before working out. 20 grams of protein in some form, the rest mostly complex carbs with some kind of kick (like oatmeal and a banana cut up). Recently I have been adding a bit of fat - so an alternative would be a light english muffin with peanut…
  • Absolutely... I will bring my own firearms, too...!
  • I have tried time after time to work out lightly, thinking it would boost my immune system or something. It has NEVER worked for me... I am much better off resting when sick... I think people might be different so you have to see how you respond. Going to the gym sick and infecting others is another matter, of course...…
  • Successfully losing all that weight, she has to keep trying on new clothes... :-)
  • Enlightenment!
  • I would try physical therapy... They may have strengthening exercises that target your ligaments. Doing this on your own, or asking the public here may not fix you up... Good luck! R
  • 10 minutes is not much cardio. If you are trying to lose fat and improve endurance / cardio, you need more time. If you are really lifting heavy, then you should do your cardio after lifting.... I don't know much about it, but I have also read that this helps reduce arterial stiffness. What is your definition of lifting…
  • I like ZMA but I only take it a couple of times per week. I also take melatonin but again, not every day. They say weightlifting does deplete zinc and magnesium... In my experience the sleep benefits of ZMA wear off quickly. R

  • This is all about you. Don't let anyone else influence you or tell you what you need to do. Take it from me - this is all from within. That is where you will find the strength and the only judgement that matters. R
  • Congrats...sounds like a huge amount of fun! But you have to listen to your body or you will get injured, and then be unable to keep it up. I know when I need an extra day of rest... If you have a hard time with this mentally, try what they call "active recovery" where you do something like light yoga or stretching so you…
  • Well, it sounds like you found your inner reason to change. You already have the motivation... Embrace it... Fighting it won't help. We all age... I decided I was not going to be that old fat guy before my time. And it is working....what will you do? R
  • That is beyond amazing without specific diets, plans, etc...! I was proud of 45 lbs over the same amount of time, busting my hump at the gym and dieting like a body builder!! Congrats!!! R
  • I agree with the people that said you have to have something. There absolutely is a magic window but it is longer than the hour held by bro science. Before bed you want to be careful, though. You don't want to get too full or eat something that is hard to digest. I would do a protein shake with banana, milk and a…
  • Your body is telling you something... If you are concerned, add slowly on lifting days... Don't be afraid of good carbs, either. Good snacks on lifting days; cottage cheese, peanut butter and bananas, more clean protein (lean steak if you are a meatatarian), yams Also make sure to have a good meal after working out...I…
  • Time to put some trust in the daily calorie requirements for someone of your age and body type... Add lots of protein and don't be afraid to gain muscle weight! Let that testosterone fly my friend! I am 48 and would kill for your levels! Congrats on getting healthy and don't let yourself fall off of the wagon again...you…
  • Eat clean when you can.. The answer is kind of obvious...don't eat too much salty food such as lunch meat, chinese food, salted nuts, etc. If you eat processed foods more than clean stuff, you will often be over on sodium and sugar.... I found eating spicier stuff and using Siracha sauce etc., helped me avoid salt more... R
  • I say no...not at all. Walking is great but this should be built in to your basic activity level. Even from regular exercise you should not eat all of your calories back... This science is very fuzzy... There are significant errors in every estimation. If you have enough energy and are not super hungry, there is no reason…
  • This is a long term commitment. As Yarwell says, the body fluctuates by several pounds. However, it is also possible that you are over estimating the calories you need, or over estimating the calories you are using in exercise. Watch it for four weeks and if there is still no change you should adjust your calories. This is…
  • Hmmm, this should not be about what you look like or what pressures you feel from the outside. This should be about what is healthy... if you want to optimize things, you should build muscle...it is good for you in so many ways. Do it for the right reasons, though. R
  • I range 5-6 pounds depending on workouts, sodium intake, etc. You are in this for the long haul, my friend! R
  • Use gloves.... keep your hands smooth and sexy for the woman in your life. I use Harbinger...I got it at Dicks Sporting Goods. They also carry Nike but I found them to be overpriced and fragile. R
  • Plateaus can be frustrating and confusing. I had a three week long plateau, then went on a business trip expecting to come back and see even worse #s on the scale - I lost 5 pounds. :-) The body does what it needs to do. Keep doing what you are doing and listen to your body. You can change it up a bit but don't expect to…
  • Two weeks is not very long, and you are most likely seeing your body's response to the working out (water weight). Don't let the scale be your boss... keep at it and watch your calories and give yourself rest between workouts. It takes time and the loss is not linear! Good luck, R
  • It looks like no one answered you... I just ordered one and it should arrive in ~ 4 weeks. I decided that % BF was the way to go now that I have dropped enough fat weight. Anyone else use this device? R
  • drizzle a little olive oil on the defrosted filet, salt and pepper and bake at 350 for ~20 minutes.... Add some garlic powder or old bay seasoning if you are feeling saucy... :-) Simple and good for you. R
  • From my perspective, the premium does not add enough value to warrant the 49 for the year. HOWEVER, this tool has helped me so much, that it deserves my support 10x over! So I paid for the year and feel good about it. R
  • I am sure that my graph looks the same, but yours looks choppy because you took so many measurements. The body fluctuates with waste, fluid, etc... Daily weight monitoring can mess you up in the head... :-) The trend line is right on! R
  • Hey, good luck. Remember this has to be a sustainable lifestyle change. Don't think of it as a diet. Stay true to yourself and to logging what you eat. Enjoy life! R
