A friend & I both started losing weight at the same time. The first week, I lost 1 pound. She lost 4. The second week, I lost 1 pound. She lost 3. The third week, I lost 1 pound. She gained 2. By the 21st week, I had lost 21 pounds. She had lost 15 and gained 25. Now I am 24 pounds down, and she has quit and is gaining…

I like structure, and MFP gives me a framework within which to operate. I'm no longer eating what or how much I feel like eating, with the calories and weight slowly creeping up. Plus it helps me meet my protein goals. I anticipate that logging will be a way of life, and I'm very ok with that.

My appetite can fluctuate quite a bit...some days I just don't feel like eating much, sometimes for several days in a row. I just concentrate on getting a reasonable amount of healthy nutritious food, and don't worry about it, because I know I will have a few days here & there where I feel like a bottomless pit and will…

Some restaurants don't have calories listed on their online menus, but I google (for instance) "Panera nutrition" and the nutrtion/calorie page will show in the listings. Of course the MFP database has a lot of those entries already, just make sure it's verified with a green check and that it corresponds exactly to what…

I like to learn new things. At 61, my "new" this year is learning to prepare healthier foods and use new seasonings & cooking techniques, instead of staying stuck in my same-old same-old food rut. Lost 22 pounds in 22 weeks. My goal, however, isn't that bikini bod I had back in high school, lol, but a more reasonable (for…

Can you incorporate playtime with your sons and exercise? Getting the whole family out running around in an informal game of kickball can help boost your energy & burn off their excess energy. If they are still quite young, then pushing them in a stroller or doing a baby workout using them as weights might be fun.

If cow's milk isn't a problem for you, drink it. If it is, try goat's milk - may not be available in the store but at a farmer's market. Almond milk is my fav plant-based, can't abide soy milk.

I don't pre-log, but have a pretty good mental plan of what I'm going to eat a day ahead so I can meet my calories and macros. If anything changes - for instance, if I don't make it home at dinnertime and have to eat out - I have a mental list of restaurants/meals that are acceptable and stick with those (often bringing…

You're probably emotionally exhausted and depleted. Be gentle with yourself. Maybe try some low-level exercise like walking and stretching, and just concentrate on heathy eating instead of a deficit. Give your body & mind a chance to heal & recover before stressing it with a rigorous program. Take care.

Now that you've got the pop/junk food and calories/portions under control, maybe concentrate on macros and nutrients to be sure that you are properly fueling your body. With that aggressive weight loss, make sure you are getting enough protein, fat, and vitamins to keep your skin healthy, your hair from falling out, your…

Lookin' good, keep it up!

Weigh yourself once a week, same day, time & condition. You're gonna drive yourself nuts with frequent weigh-ins because weight fluctuates constantly.
-
Just start logging everything. Then you can assess where you go off track. Late night binges? Leave some calories for late night. Sweets? Cut down on frequency & portions to make them fit in your calories. Birthday party or happy hour? Don't sweat it, if it's only occasional, enjoy it! If your weekly goals have been pretty…

You don't have that much to lose to get to a healthy weight for your height. Plug your stats into MFP, select a reasonable loss rate, and start today. Read the stickies and ask for advice. You only need to modify your intake and food selections slightly to get very good results. You can easily develop good lifelong eating…

Set a small goal, like 10 pounds, to start with. Make small changes to your diet so it's not so stressful. Save a few small treats to look forward to. I am doing most of my weight loss with very little exercise due to health problems. Losing weight and doing just a little walking each day should hopefully help a lot toward…

Do you cook, or can you take a few lessons (even from a friend if no cooking classes are available)? Maybe you could cook a meal for them occasionally and thus show them that healthy low-cal meals can be easy and delicious. If they really like the social aspect of eating out, it will be a challenge to get them to change…

Use a smaller plate (I picked up some dessert plates at a yard sale or charity shop), and only put 2/3 of your normal portion on. The smaller plate size makes it look like a larger portion. Eat that, drink your beverage, and wait 5 or 10 minutes before deciding if you are still hungry for any more. Usually, I'm not, and…

When people give me suggestions or tell me about some miracle pill or plan they are on, I just smile and say, "oh, wow, thanks, I'll look into that!" No sense in trying to convince them of their folly, LOL!

Be sure you are drinking enough fluids (and remember that some beverages are slightly diuretic, so hydrate with water as much as possible). If sodium is not a problem, make sure you don't go too low on salt, as it will help hold onto fluids and increase your blood volume. Best to get checked out by your doc, too.

I agree, very motivating. Always trying to get more steps to go up to the next round number! And if I have a low step or higher calorie day, the weekly report lets me know that I'm still on track overall.
-
Relax, you'll do fine! You already have a plan, so that is a good step in the right direction. Don't stress out if something gets off track (such as not managing as many steps). And having a buddy like yoplait311 will help you feel like you're not all alone out there, surrounded by temptation. You can do it!

If I look half as good as @mhaskins08 at 166, I think I will just stop there!

Had my hip replaced June of last year. I wasn't on MFP then, but my main focus was getting good nutrition and plenty of protein. Your body has been through a trauma - not to make you queasy, but your bones have been sawed off, routed out, and had a steel spike driven in them. You've lost some blood and body fluids. Your…

Yep, great app and it's given me a framework within which to structure my nutrition & calorie limit ... but it's the forums that give me the extra kick of motivation.

Fantastic, what a transformation! Your wife is very beautiful and you both look so happy.

Amazing difference! You look fantastic!

Thank you so much for posting that, it is extremely helpful! I am a list-maker (I even write down tasks I've completed that weren't on the list, just so I have the satisfaction of crossing them off, lol), but there are certainly some more tips that I could begin to implement. I never made the connection between being…

So here's how my conversation with him would have gone: "Sorry, son, the rest of the family is just sitting down to eat together. I will pick you up after we are finished, swing by Grammies to take out the trash, and you can reheat your cold food and do ALL the dishes when you get home. See you in an hour or so."
-
Absolutely positively not. I am done, done, done with fat clothes.

Check your protein intake using the macros tab. Increase protein & healthy fats if they are low. Also be sure you are getting enough overall calories.
