  • Hi, everybody, and welcome! There is great support here with humor and positive thoughts -- it really is helping me and I hope it will you, too! Great weekend to all!
  • You might look at the Garmin VivoActive. I tried both the Fitbit Charge HR and the Surge and didn't like either, then found the Garmin and it's been very motivating and fun to use. So many choices -- hope you find the tracker that's just right for you!!
  • Welcome to all the new folks -- you'll find great support here!
  • The pictures are so lovely! Thanks for taking the time to share.

  • Not sure why but sometimes, for no apparent reason, after losing 5, 10 or 15 pounds, I hit a mental snag and all my determination goes out the window (I give some credence to the theory of a "set point") -- the last week and a half have been like that. So my goal today is to stop it now, not six months or a year from now…
  • It's so incredibly helpful that you take the time to share. So happy for your success. Aargh -- I was going to bow in congratulations but it turned into a toe touch... is it possible your dedication is rubbing off on me?!!!! One can only hope...
  • Awesome! Bet your family is so very proud of you!!!
  • These are so inspiring...
  • Did well at supper with the kids last night, and that's always a battle won. There was potato salad... one of my five major food groups... so it was touch and go for a little bit!! Today the plan is 1) Total of 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous cardio 2) 10,000 steps 3) cook soup to have in the fridge/freezer for snacks…
  • I swear I'm going to get a T-shirt with a giant V! Too much of a coward, I'm afraid, to ride outside -- cars, dogs, laughter of passing motorists... But I do appreciate the advice about the seat -- that makes total sense. Happy to know one can build up a tolerance -- so my new motto will be "less whining, more riding"!…
  • This is me -- if I'd started Nike, instead of "Just Do It" the motto would be "Just obsess about it, read four more articles, and make another list, chart or spreadsheet"! I'm working on reversing that mindset... but it's slow! Thanks to all for the great pick-me-ups!!
  • Oh, thanks to all. The pillow idea is so clever -- may try it yet! And changing the seat -- another thing I'd have never considered. Mostly Water - a kiddie XL, indeed!! Well, that's something to strive for, for sure!! Found an inexpensive pair on Amazon to try, definitely not a kiddie size -- and can't wait to get them to…
  • Farback -- thanks so much for the input. With your info, I do believe the formula I found is better for what I need than the standard one. BTW, have enjoyed your pictures -- inspiring!! Thanks again for taking the time to weigh in!!
  • Thanks so much for letting me know your experience. It's a huge help! I really like the bike but have been walking around it for a week, just too discouraged to keep trying. But now I'll jump back on (okay, I'll climb on carefully!) and do a little each day until I can build up some tolerance. And I'm going to try the…
  • ... and there you have the reason I don't garden -- "squash bug check" indeed -- ewww!! But I do love squash... Wanted to say a late "welcome" from a really new member of the group. It's awesome here!! Good luck at school!!
  • Okay, I have to tell you, the immediate mental image of me wearing "padded pants" made me laugh uncontrollably (a belly laugh is oh-so-good for the abs!!). But once I got control of my faculties, I found padded bike pants on Google -- I had no idea there was such a thing -- seriously, not a clue in the world!! Thank you so…
  • "Smile more" -- sounds like an excellent plan! Monday nights I eat supper with my son, DIL and granddaughter. DIL is such a great cook (and I am so not!) that I'm always tempted to overdo, plus it's hard to count calories without asking how everything was prepared. So Monday's goal is to 1) eat like a normal person, not…
  • Hi, brb... and welcome from one of the newest members of this group!
  • Oh, I'm so happy I'm not the only one! No doubt tracking calories and activity more objectively will be an enormous improvement. And kind of fun...
  • Hi all! What a great group -- I've spent the last couple of days catching up on previous posts and have learned so much. I'm not usually a joiner, never would do Facebook or other social media, but it will be great to have the support and information in the Over 50 group, and I know it will be a huge help. I've been…
  • I appreciate these links so much. Have only recently started MFP, and it can take so much time to sift through all the chatter on the boards to find meaningful and relative info! Hanks!
  • Hi - I use Garmin Connect with a VivoActive and haven't had any issues syncing with MFP -- all counts have synced quickly and accurately throughout the day. Hope it straightens out for you soon -- I'd be lost without the combination of fitness tracker and MFP!
