Every day when I'm near a scale. I enter it onto my fitbit dashboard and it syncs to mfp

Are they full length photos? It seems easier to spot differences with a full length view

My goal is to be at the high end of my bmi range with a lower bodyfat %. I'm about 24 or so pounds away, weight wise. My scale rates me at 16.5% bodyfat currently. I've seen pictures of guys at that bodyfat and I am thinking my scale is probably not reading something right, because they definitely have more visible muscle…

I'm sure there are certain camera angles could make me appear slimmer to the untrained eye. :D Were you sending pictures of all your three weight differences taken at the same exact angle? Shoot, I regret not keeping photos of myself during my weight loss progression.

I prefer eating calories versus drinking them, however, I think you've got the idea right. If you're going to drink and you're maintaining a deficit for that day (or days or whatever) then the idea would be to have less food to allow more of your calories to be used by alcohol. Alternatively, you could do some cardio and…

I also eat the same stuff as when i was gaining, just less of it. I have a LOT more fruit and vegetables though, and that's perfectly fine for me. If i felt like i was deprived I'd have stopped long ago

I do it everyday. More data points for www.trendweight.com

I would've ended up eating too much of something else to make up for the loss of fat, oil, butter. I would like to believe I'd have been more likely to follow a plan that suggested a calorie budget system had i learned of it that day, rather than leaving thinking about restricting food groups that i obviously enjoyed being…

lol, that would be unfortunate. I'm glad I knew someone who has managed to lose a lot of weight and keep it off for most of her life. She pointed me to weight watchers, which worked great, until I learned of calorie databases and the apps that help track calories :D
-
Yikes, you had that done to you and you didn't need it? I'm glad you came out okay after all that, even though I don't really know you

The doctor is an interesting character. He's generally good to talk to about health concerns, but he himself could stand to lose a few pounds. He just hasn't found a method that worked for him, is my guess. :D

keyhole procedure? My head is trying to visualize what that means. It sounds frightening!
-
Thank you :) You provided a lot of great information.
-
Mind blown. Thank you very much for that breakdown! So basically one teaspoon of salt per day is the ideal max intake for a person with a history of high blood pressure? so i could use two of these half-teaspoon measures of salt per day if i were cooking everything myself, provided that my ingredients don't already have…

I prefer to spin myself around in circles :-)

Usually it's mine, too... but in case I've got a week with low sodium (probably an extremely rare case) i'd like to know how much salt I can reasonably add to my own food
-
Good point, actually. I know now for table salt, 1 third of the 1/2 teaspoon I have is approximately 1 gram.
-
Thank you for that information. My diet currently consists of both types of food sources (fresh and processed) so I try to be as careful as I can when I have some direct control over how much sodium I take. When I was heavier I had a blood pressure issue that needed medication to address, so I am trying not to trigger any…

Thank you both :) Those are great suggestions to get me started. I'll look into them.
-
I'm bad at posting etiquette, but yes. I think you're seeing it now ;)
-
Oh, thank you so much. I was hoping there'd be an easier solution!
-
So, I ended up using a measuring spoon for 1/2 tsp. The salt, filled to the brim of the spoon, came to 3 grams. So yes, a third of that measuring spoon is 1 gram. Since I don't often add salt to my food, I now know how much sodium that amount is. Thank you all :)
-
Oh that's a really good idea! Thanks a lot, I'll try that now :D
-
but, but... I have a friend who lost 30 lbs cutting all carbs and fats from their diet. Surely that's the way to do it, right???
-
Ohhh, but I don't eat carbs and fats because I don't want them to turn into fat. . . .
-
ok, thank you both for your suggestions :)
-
If 1 tsp is 2325 mg sodium and 1.1 gram of sodium is 590 mg of sodium, then 1 tsp is 3.9 grams of sodium. I suppose I should just use a third of a teaspoon then?

How does "don't eat all the food at all the church functions all the time" equate to "eat nothing between 3pm and midnight." ? That's some serious distortion going on. Just admit you don't want to work on your weight and move on with your life. Do you ignore the sermons on the sin of gluttony when it comes up at your…

You don't have to eat all the food at all the church events all the time, though. Don't work out for an hour, don't work out at all. If you can't walk then don't put yourself through pain. Just lower your intake so that your body is not storing your calories as fat. Unless you'd rather just be fat, then do that. Right now,…

Doing planks is what has been helping me feel like my posture has gotten better. I noticed an immediate difference in my comfort with getting into jogging (when I was mainly walking) once I started doing planks. I also identify with feeling colder. I am pretty certain I would've had the air conditioner running all summer…
