man...you disappear for a few days and there's over a hundred posts and ALL KINDS of $h!t happening all over the place...from animals falling ill to Bastrop, TX becoming the host for the Stupid Human Trick Olympic Trials. i had friends from Philly (my 25+ year adopted hometown) who were supposed to fly into Nashville this…

there's a lot of information and opinions here already, and mine and a dollar will get you a Nestle Crunch bar out of the vending machines in the cafeteria at my job...but having said that, I'm gonna put two things out here for your consideration. take them with as many grains of salt as necessary. 1. women who actually…

I'll add my "me, too" to what everyone else has said...i've lost almost 8 pounds in the space of a little more than a week, and that's after having floated at around 233 for almost three weeks or so. I've stopped trying to make sense of it...I just keep going to the gym, stepping on the scale, checking which belt-loop i'm…

oh, i'm over it now. after Friday comes and goes and I hand the keys over to the landlord, it'll be a HUUUUUGE load off my mind. that house has a dark, dark cloud hanging over it that goes back to well before we got there. not quite Amityville Horror-esque, but...just bad, bad mojo there.
-
yeah - we're dividing our time now between cleaning the old place and unboxing in the new one. such a HUGE load off my mind, being outta there.

after six days of rain in a row in Nashville, it's been sunny and in the 80's - now that i'm back to work. awesome timing, mother nature. next time YOU can load the truck. :)
-
so the weather dudes keep telling me the rain is supposed to subside here at some point, and yet it rained all damn day today. i'm starting to get a queasy feeling in my gut about moving this weekend. fingers crossed for a relatively chill night.

these days, you have to choose your battles, where compassion is concerned. it's in short supply as it is, and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you squander it.

co-worker? guest?

there's a lot of "do whatever you want" in this thread so far, and frankly, i don't disagree. BUT... based on some of what i've learned from some of the same individuals who've participated in this thread, here's another way to think about this. i feel kinda dumb for not having figured this out before a conversation with…

good luck...and don't cram so much that you reach that point where you actually know the answers but start to create doubt in your mind when you're actually answering the questions. :)

she's just upset that we're not staying another year...which, frankly, just isn't in the cards for me.

if your primary goal is plain old, unadulterated weight loss, then don't worry about cutting out diet soda. the prevailing credo of MFP - the motto, the anthem - is that Calories In be less than Calories Out. diet soda has zero calories and, as such, can be consumed in unlimited fashion. (if, like me, you've declared…

last two nights here have been kinda ridiculously busy...hoping for a reprieve tonight, since THE MOVE is underway and I spent a good chunk of my usual sleeping time trekkin' stuff from the old house to the new. this weekend, we're doing ALL the big stuff, and i'll spend most of next week doing "straggler loads" and…

i know i'm probably sounding like a broken record (based on recent comments on the online dating topic) but...again, please allow me to apologize on behalf of my gender for behaving like an arrogant *kitten*. there's something seriously wrong with a whole bunch of us, man. wow.
-
is this your way of saying "it's not you, it's me"? :) fellow IT malcontent here...i completely understand. sometimes it's hard to take off the goggles and see the world without that filter in place. the journalling really does become second nature after a while, though.

i've been drinking diet soft drinks for so long that the regular flavors actually taste funny to me. and i'll take the calorie headroom every time.

i heard a stand-up comedian say once that the reason god gave boobs to women was because if he gave them to men, they'd never get anything done. :)

if a picture says a thousand words, this one is essentially saying: "i can't believe i'm actually looking FORWARD to getting out of here to go home and do laundry and pack for the move this weekend." if it were a mathematical equation, it'd be: monday+full moon+(assigned seating/forced eavesdropping on conversation about…

best time of the day to go. have fun!

i don't know where it comes from...but i remember knowing, intuitively, from a very young age that i just didn't belong there. i was always "the weird kid".

yeah. healing IS hard. and so many of us try to heal while still surrounded by the toxic crap that messed us up in the first place, and it's doubly difficult....it's like going to chemo for lung cancer, but still showing up for your job at the asbestos factory. sometimes, it really is best to just drop back ten and…

sadly, i think there are a lot more of us...the "too sensitive about these things" crowd...than there are people who got all the education and support they needed to become well-adjusted adults. and the pendulum is still swinging in the wrong direction. if you're lucky, you trip over the insight you need later on in life…

what is this "work" of which you speak? i'm camping on the sofa after a weird-ish day, watching sappy movies and getting ready to pour my third George Dickel and Diet Dr. Pepper of the evening (not to worry, I was a good boy today and barely logged 800 calories for the day, so I've got headroom.)

NO FRUIT JUICE! i hoped you guys would enjoy that as much as i did. :) you've been conspicuously absent...where've ya been?
-
understood. i've been here since 3pm, and i think i've had maybe a half dozen calls all night. i've gotta get more creative in the use of my "in between" time around here. :)

boy, we're awfully comatose for a friday night, folks.

everything everybody already said, for sure.. Frank, specifically, hit on two good points: in order to reach a goal, you have to define it first. are you most concerned with dropping excess weight, or are you looking specifically to delve deeper into strength training? because the answer to that question will define your…

i work 3pm until midnight, and - while your mileage may vary - after work in the wee hours has been perfect for me.

well, now i guess i GOTTA jump on it. :)
