  • I really respect your honesty. It can be confronting to admit to yourself that you're not perfect, and there are aspects of your personality that are not "nice". There are aspects of me that are not nice. I also hate fat people with a kind of pathological disgust, like they're weak and pathetic. I also hate "victims". The…
  • 1kg a week is actually not taking it slow, it's an aggressive target - especially as you're only 20kg overweight. 0.5kg a week is more realistic. I've been doing this over 4 years, and the way you make it work is by finding an eating style you can embrace, making that mental change that "this is how I eat now" not "i'm on…
  • 4 and a half years. Under 25g of carbs (sugar) a day. Only in the last couple of months have I upped that to about 50 - 70g but that comes only from vegetables like tomato etc, and I allow myself a skim latte here and there (19g carbs per). Type 2 diabetes runs in my family and I eat low carb for that reason, not only for…
  • Didn't you post this a few weeks ago, or was that someone else? Seeing your rib cage when laying on your back on the bed is completely normal. The other picture standing up also looks completely normal. You have a waist. So do most people. You can't "shrink" your rib cage, unless you go get yourself some of that surgery to…
  • Okay so it's been just over two weeks. The discomfort from the needle has finally almost gone. The original pain in the hip is back though, so it was a complete waste of 2 weeks of misery. Funny you should mention sciatic nerve. I saw an ad on facebook this morning with an actual picture highlighting the sciatic nerve and…
  • I've emailed the doctors office and asked for a copy of my blood tests. No response. I wasn't dehydrated. Donating blood was surprisingly painless, didn't even get dizzy. I'll see what my blood tests say in July.

  • I reckon I could eat like 5000 calories in a 30 minute window. At least. :P

  • You ignore % and focus on the grams as a guide. And the total calories. The grams are your macros, I don't know why they show it in % as well, it just confuses people. I mean, if you're protein is set at 20% that can be 20% of 1200 calories or 20% of 4000 calories. BIG difference. But if your protein is 70g that's what you…

  • Last time I gave myself permission to do this was after surgery, I thought "I'm just not going to track for a week or so, eat whatever, concentrate on getting better". I wish I hadn't. 4 months and 14kgs gain later I managed to put the brakes on. As someone who spent 20 years trying to get to a normal weight without…
  • Day 1562 of keto for me
  • I have more blood tests in July. If I have not got my cholesterol down by then my Dr will make me take medication. For now I've just bargained for more time, I don't want to go down that road of taking pills for everything. I removed a garbage bag full of pills from my Dad's house last year after he passed away, and none…
  • 1200 is very aggressive. I put your stats into Ruled Me keto calculator and I get Based on your inputs, we suggest you eat: 1409 calories. From those, 95g fats, 20g net carbs, and 118g protein - and that's at a 30% deficit which is high If you HAVE to eat 1200 then just set MFP to 1200 and then go into goals and set your…
  • It's not really possible to lose 1kg a day of actual fat loss.
  • At least you know how you got there. It happens to a lot of people, me included. One day you're young and active and carefree and can eat without stressing about your weight and the next minute you're a parent and have a full time job and don't work out anymore and eat for convenience or because you cbf or whatever. Just…
  • Learn to manage it. I eat 100 cals less every day and then on Friday or Saturday night I'll eat a 100g block of dark chocolate while watching a movie (about 600 cals).
  • Just please be careful with your fats. I am 42 and had normal cholesterol 4 years ago when I started Keto. It's now sky high. I've had to cut out saturated fats (dairy/animal fats) and get my fats from avocado, fish and olive oil. MOST people do okay on Keto, but some don't. I too have diabetes in my family, and have…
  • If he's not your boyfriend maybe it's too soon to be bringing him around your parents house at all? How did you introduce him to your mum? And why? Maybe you're sending mixed signals? It's reasonable for him to question why you didn't introduce him to or mention him to your Dad when you had an opportunity.
  • From Diet Doctor: Potentially troubling cholesterol results However, there are also potential problems, even if they are rare. On average, the elevation of total and LDL cholesterol is so small that most studies do not even pick up on it. But for a smaller number of people – possibly around 1-2 percent of the population –…
  • I'm 42. When I was fat people thought I was about 30. They didn't believe me when I told them I had grown children and now a grandchild. Now that I'm 90lbs lighter I look 42. People don't question my age anymore. I don't actually give one fig what they think either way.
  • 20lbs in 3 months is nearly 1.5lb a week. I wouldn't call that slow. I average 1lb a month - 4 years to lose 90lbs.
  • Like everything, it's not true for everyone. Having butter in my coffee and eating bacon has sent my cholesterol sky high when I had no issues before. I say take this stuff as interesting but be careful nonetheless.
  • Thank you, whatever it is is a direct result of the injection. Normal joint pain before, this weird pain and pins and needles since (from when the anaesthetic wore off 2 hours after the needle).
  • I've been using MFP to log my food for years, and I'm very much a daily logger but my diary is unfortunately not open anymore due to bitchy people judging my choices - like if I put cream in my coffee I'm eating too much fat, if I eat some ham I'm not losing weight because my diet is "full of processed foods" stuff like…
  • So wait, you're 300lb and MFP tells you you'll be 186 in 5 weeks? Something very wrong with your figures.
  • Be careful making general assumptions about people. I'm 42yo 5'10" and 184lb and I have to eat under 1450 calories to lose. I don't lose weight at 1600 and I gain at 1800. I am also lightly active and don't eat back exercise calories.
