Soup. Look for House Special Soup or something similar sounding. It's clear broth with vegetables and seafood. And it's a large enough portion for lunch.

Two of my migraine triggers are bright focused light and glare. If my curtains are open all the way, I'm fine. But if they're closed and just a sliver of light is shining in, I'll be sick almost immediately. I wear sunglasses outside, and try to avoid glare at all costs. I also try to avoid having my picture taken with…

Black coffee, plain tea, water, spices. I do log vegetables because I eat a lot of them. A LOT.

I'd call ahead and see if they can make the chicken or fish without whatever sauce (or whatever) you don't want. Maybe they can make plain chicken or fish with pesto sauce. Or grilled (instead of breaded and fried) chicken parm.

It's lawsuits that have resulted in "Warning, Contains Nuts" on a jar of nuts. Which lead to my very favorite food packaging of all time. "Contains NO NUTS" on a can of Chock-Full-of-Nuts coffee. B) ;)

If it turns out to be a very large portion, pack half to take home. Then you can weigh/measure your leftovers and you'll know what you already ate.

Also.... do you know about meetup.com? It's a website where you can find groups of people in your area, based around different interests. Probably just about anything you can think of, there will be a group. It's a fantastic way to meet new people.

Do you mean you want to go to a restaurant, just order coffee, and sit there to read - but bring your own food? I'm pretty sure most restaurants won't allow or appreciate that. Have you considered hanging out at the library or a book store instead? Barnes and Nobel has Starbucks, so you won't be the only one drinking…

I just had corned beef and brown mustard on rye.

I come here and read the Motivation and Support board. supporting others is a great way to get your perspective back!

Congratulations! I'm glad you enjoyed your well-deserved celebratory meal.

A very large very thick very chocolatey chocolate milk shake. With a side of very salty potato chips.

I taught my kids that they were lucky to have "real" fruit instead of fruit-flavored stuff. Real cheese and crackers tastes better than cheese puffs. And many other similar lessons. There's NO reason for this "healthy = deprivation or punishment" attitude so many people have. Like the OP, I let my kids have party food when…

If you're going to a bodega, you can pick up a container of yogurt and some fruit or veg to go with it. Get whatever type of yogurt fits your calories - anything non-fat regular yogurt to full-fat greek yogurt.

^ this. Also, roast the broccoli instead of steaming it. It's a completely different flavor and texture.

Panera Bread has what they call the "Clean Pairings" menu, where every combination is 500 or fewer calories. At their website you can check out what pairings you'd like. Choose 1 item, and the system will only let you choose another item that falls within 500 calories. Figure out a few combinations that you like, and write…

It doesn't quite taste like peanut butter, because most commercial peanut butter doesn't quite taste like peanuts. Commercial peanut butter has all sorts of stuff, including sugar, added to it. PB2 only has fat taken out, nothing else is added.

Yum! This sounds great! Thank you for sharing.

Jicama is a (Mexican, I think?) root vegetable. It looks somewhat like a white beet in the store. It's got a light refreshing taste, sort of like mild apple. And it's crunchy! You just peel it and cut it into bite-sized pieces. (Peel it with a knife, the peel is too stringy for a peeler). It's also good pickled.

Congratulations! If running is out of the question, is fast walking ok? You can burn a lot of calories without as much impact (assuming that's the reason you were told not to run), and you'll still get a good aerobic workout. If that's not ok, ask your OB what exercise you can do safely.

I'm not at all sure what you're asking, or why you think it's inaccurate that you lost so little muscle. I'm guessing most of your weight loss was fat, which was your goal, right?

To keep celery and carrots fresh longest, I keep them refrigerated root-end-down in a container with and inch or two of water in the bottom.

Oatmeal, almost every day. I'm not sure from what you wrote if you're snacking all day because you're hungry, or for some other reason. If you want to stop being hungry for snacks all day, see if eating larger meals helps. Personally, I like snacks. I often have yogurt a few hours after my oatmeal. Have you tried adding…

I almost always have oatmeal for breakfast. I put spices in it, and each day it just depends what I'm in the mood for. It may sound crazy but I put cinnamon, cayenne, turmeric and/or garlic powder in my breakfast. Sometimes I add 2T PB2 and/or apples or bananas. This morning, I had oatmeal with all of the above spices and…

Thanks! I'll give it a try.

Weigh out "your" food, and then make a little pile on your plate of "her/your" food, so she can eat from your plate and you still get your calories, every single one of them!

It looks to me like your goal (the black horizontal line) is 1200.* On Friday you were below your goal. * On Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, you went over. The "okay" part is green (go), the "over" part is red (stop). * On Thursday, you earned extra calories with exercise, so the green goes above 1200.…

I've never had the little fishes - except sardines from a can. Do you have some recipes you'd like to share, please? My favorites are salmon (grilled, poached, raw, pan cooked, smoked) and mahimahi (grilled). And I love canned tuna.
