  • For the mindless eating problem - how about sucking on a lozenge or chewing some gum to keep you from snacking while in the kitchen? Some sugar-free gum sweetened with xylitol is what I rely on. Also as @seska422 said, logging before eating really helps to realise how much even a seemingly small snack can affect your…
  • How about peppermint xylitol gum, @HereToLoseOrWin ? It's good for your teeth! Works like the lozenges by preventing snacking, except instead of sucking, you chew. I don't know how common they are in the US, but here in Finland it's hard to find gum sweetened with anything else.
  • I've started mindful eating as well! I really enjoy the preparation: clearing the table and then setting it prettily, with a cute tablecloth and all. Some instrumental jazz playing in the background, good food and all the time to enjoy it, my cat sitting across the table (she's always hoping for scraps and is a great…
  • Go ahead and add me, folks - I'm hooked on MFP.
  • Hi, everyone! I'm currently sitting at around 222 lbs, which is still too too too much for me. Just for today, I'm going to walk five miles: 2.5 to walk through the forest and up a steep hill, and then the same back again. It's gonna be a hot and humid day, so wish me luck! I'm gonna break a sweat.
  • The land of Angry Birds, Santa Claus, Nokia and xylitol: Finland. Helsinki, to be more specific.
  • Welcome back! I started my journey a month ago. I'm 26 and at around 224 at the moment. Let's cheer each other on!
  • I don't like eating heavily when I wake up, so I have a sandwich and a few hours later, a small second breakfast - usually some form of fruit. If I don't have that, I want to go overboard with lunch as well. Drinking water after eating usually helps to calm down, as well as chewing gum. As stated by just about everyone in…
  • I said no to lunch since I didn't feel too hungry yet. :unamused: I ended up feeling ravenous while shopping at Ikea. Thankfully I also managed to say no to the candy aisle despite being seriously tempted. Got home feeling famished and proceeded to have a very late lunch - or rather, dinner!
  • We're pretty similar - I'm 26 years old, also living alone, starting weight was 235 after numerous failures. Joined MFP only recently. Let's do this!
  • My name is Leena, I'm 26 years old and spend too much time playing video games and chatting online. I'm a long way off from normal weight and having like-minded friends would definitely help me stay on track. The more the merrier, right? Feel free to add me!
  • Thanks! I'm hoping said mindset will keep despite the rough patches I'm sure are still ahead. Gotta persevere!
