Vitamix are awesome. I'm still mad that I sold mine before coming to Europe. I have a kitchen aide that is pretty and nice but doesn't compare to my previous one.

I started back with MFP in Jan. Had already lost a bit on my own. I was 295, 5'10 and 37 years old .. I put in sedentary and got a Fitbit to use for steps etc., so my calories are adjusted. Anyway. Stay low carb and up your fat. And figure out how low carb you want to be?

Natural all the way. I am not a big fan of surgery and the issues surrounding food afterwards. But it's really a personal choice. My sister did it years ago as have a few others I know. Some kept the weight off, 2 gained every bit back. Good luck either way.

75+ down focusing on diet. I do walk more than I did when I lived in the states .. Living in Europe naturally adds walking. I'm finding that I can maintain my current weight without weighing and tracking ... But when I want to steadily lose I need to weigh my foods (everything) and track it.

We always weighed burgers raw.

I eat one most mornings at breakfast. Over 75 pounds down. Avocado is one of my favourite foods though.

@Hausisse1 yep. It was not pleasant. But I feel much better for not giving in now. And if I eat a piece of fruit it tastes so sweet. Also we have had 85% dark chocolate in the house recently and it was nice, not bitter like it would be if I was having sugar all the time.

I've given up added sugar. I feel so much better in general. More energy and sleeping better. I don't get tired in the afternoons. And I don't crave junk food anymore.

It gets better. I went cold turkey a few weeks ago. No added sugar. Two days that really sucked. But now I don't crave it.

I would say fill the cupboards and fridge with healthy snacks and foods. It's hard as a child to be expected to eat well when your options include junk food. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

Stop eating out for one month. Weigh EVERYTHING. I weigh my Mayo .. My ketchup .. Butter.. Anything I use in my meal goes on the scale. You might be surprised what you are really eating. And drop the soda for that month too. See what happens.

5'10 and currently 270 .. I'm around 1800 (sometimes more if I have a long walk) and have lost over 75 pounds. I was close to 350. I don't exercise regularly. Here is a recent side by side.

77 down ... Still eat bread, pasta and potatoes ... But I'm much choosier now. It's going to be really nice bread and less of it. A very tasty pasta dish .. But roughly half the amount of what I used to eat.. It works for me.

I'm 5'10. Started at almost 350. I'm now 271. I fit into size 18 jeans when I hit like 285. I'm 271 as of today and still in size 18 though much more comfortably. I had a pair to. Size 18 silver jeans. I couldn't even get them over my hips at Christmas. Last month they fit. And now they are a little bit saggy. I need a new pair of dream jeans. Size 14? ; )

We just small pitas. Toast, slice in half (ends up being two mini pizzas) and top with whatever you like. I keep it under 500 cal total.

For me I use almond milk (unsweetened) because it's like 13 cal per 100ml. Vs the milk we buy that is 65 per 100ml. And I think the taste is ok. I used it on muesli this morning.

I'm sure there have been people along the way but honestly, I've let it go. I moved to Europe 3 years ago and rarely see family now. Maybe you should tell her all these things about how you have felt over the years? She probably thinks she's just been a concerned mother.

I've changed mine several times. I started out eating 1450 (5'10 295lbs on Jan 1st..new year recommitment) and was losing like crazy, but I was so hungry and it lead to snacking and guilt. So up to 1780 now. Steadily losing and feeling good. Down 75 total and down 28 since Jan 1st

I did a 7 day juice fast a few years back. I lost like 14 pounds that week. I gained 16 back in like 3 hours of eating again.

I'm down 75 and though I've cut way down on bread (I used to eat it at every meal.. 2 slices of toast at breakfast, two for a sandwich at lunch maybe a pita or bun at dinner) .. I try to have it once a day. Sometimes twice .. But now it's 1 piece of toast or a small pita instead of a large at dinner. I'll never cut out…

Yep. Reset .. Reset.. Reset. Do it every morning, no matter how badly the day before went. Eventually you'll get back on track.

I've gotten "the look" and asked .. Is that all your going to eat? It was 600 cal for dinner. So yeah, that's all I'm eating for dinner. All I need to eat. ; ) 75 down as of today.
