I was looking for something to give me an accurate calorie burn, so maybe it's not what I thought it was..? I don't really walk much unless I'm on a day out, most of my exercise is the gym, squash or mountain biking, so maybe I should stick to the HRM. For some reason I thought it told you how many calories you burn that…

I lost 6lbs in first week too *enkiemonkey* , since then nothing, but I must be gaining muscle as I'm exercising like mad! Size of a cat.. that makes me feel better :)
-
Give it here, I'll eat it ! :open_mouth: I'm sure you can find a calorie dense item for 300 kcals..
-
Same here, no loss in 1 month now, but I've been doing crazy amounts of exercise and my clothes fit much better.. keep going

I get hungry before mine starts, once it starts I seem okay. I also wish I was a man, lol. I also get 2 days of feeling so slim and not bloated right at the end of my period.. it's so glorious but only lasts 2 days and then I feel bloated again for the rest of the month... wahhhhh!
-
100lbs to lose too, I'll add you.
-
This week I've been eating raw carrot before lunch and dinner.. 1 large carrot is around 50-60 calories and it seems to have made a huge difference to my fullness.
-
Same here, I loathe the heat.. A sunny but cool day in the UK is just perfect. Boob sweat is a killer.. I get extra wet from my Heart Rate Monitor there too.. :/
-
Long term, you might want to consider low-carb, it helps to control the hunger in a way.
-
Yeh, I totally get it. :) 4 weeks isn't so bad.. what happens after 4 weeks? What surgery are you considering? I've had a self-funded gastric band before, lost nearly 6 stones but it failed in the end and I regained the weight. I hadn't learnt a thing about healthy eating. :/

Her goal is set for what she wants to lose within a month.

In reality, a VLCD diet is going to be similar to the diet of a bariatric patients diet, so maybe it's just a way of preparing them, and also shrinking the liver ready for surgery? Who knows.. but in my experience, bariatric surgeons are not there to promote healthy diets, they are there to promote their specialists skills…

It's the ketosis effect of the VLCD that makes it easier for people, similar to low-carb. Once you are into it full swing you find that you aren't actually that hungry, just crave real food, but sometimes that is easier than trying to control normal food. Taking you away from normal food can be quite helpful in controlling…

Also, some people have no hair loss, so you might be okay, who knows.
-
999tigger - I was part of a forum of people on liquid VLCD's and a lot of them had some hair loss, some people had permanent hair loss :/ bald patches, extreme thinning. I have fine hair already so I wasn't willing to take the risk. Also, the hair loss happens when you start eating again, not when you are actually doing…

Water weight is what is stored in your body, not what you actually consume. Also, watch out for constipation... drink plenty of water and get some of those constipation things you pop up your bum.. sorry, but that's the reality after a few weeks... :/
-
No, it's worse than the normal urge, and that's why it fails for a lot of people. :/ Once you start to eat it's like you've come out of a famine and you want to eat everything, especially carbs and sugar. My experience was of a 650 kcal a day liquid diet, so you may not be so bad if it's 1100-1200. I've tried all sorts…

You sound determined, so I'm sure you will succeed. A lot of the problem with VLCD diets, especially liquid one's, is keeping the weight off once the diet ends. So just be mindful of that and plan for it, plus the increase in appetite. People have bad opinions on it because there are some bad effects from VLCD diets, but…
-
Also, watch out for the uncontrollable urge to eat when you come off it.. it's crazy.

There's no doubt they work, they are still CICO. The problem is the long term effects of them. Muscle loss, digestive system, hair loss etc.. I lost 10lbs in 2 weeks on a VLC liquid diet, but I felt awful and didn't trust that it was healthy, because it isn't. If you can lose a chunk of weight by it, then do so if that's…

Have you considered custom made liners? I got some made at a running shop and wear them in my everyday trainers. It made a massive difference to me, especially when playing squash and jumping onto my feet. I'm 270lbs and found I have a lot of arch issues and general foot/ankle issues due to the weight. Might be worth…

Yes, same here.. what a pain it is (literally). I just feel at above 200lbs, the weight should be shifting, but what I think, and reality probably isn't the same. :)
-
I'm going to do more weight training in the gym. Ironically I was avoiding it as I know it can cause some weight gain with water/muscle etc.. but it seems cardio has done that anyhow, so I have nothing to lose. (apart from the 100lbs of course). :D Jillish - I'm going to do that, not even sure I knew it existed, so thanks…

It is.. but, I'm worried that I'm fooling myself or something stupid. With the scale, it's there to see. I guess it's just validating that it's all working. When I look at the weight log on an app I use, there is a definite downward trend, I just stress about it and worry I'm not doing it right. I'm just being impatient…
-
Thanks, that's so nice of you to say. & thanks to everyone else for your positive vibes too.
-
It's hard isn't it.. if I didn't exercise I'd be lighter now.. but not as fit, and probably not as physically small either! Still, a lifetime of checking the scale is a hard habit to break!
-
Yes, you are all correct, thank you :) I've worked so hard at the gym and getting out on my bike at the weekends, I guess I just expected more.. although I am surprised at how quickly my clothes are feeling loose! It's shocking how few calories a hard workout actually burns, but I do think it's toning me up really well..…
-
Thanks everyone.. Just so hard not seeing it on the scale :( My clothes are much looser and I feel slimmer, just feel like nothing is budging.. I'll keep going, make double sure my calories in are correct and wait it out. Thanks for the support!

Domicinator - that's really interesting and I'm going to bear that in mind when I lose a bit more! I lost 21 lbs a few months ago and all of a sudden stopped the diet and went back to bad eating, maybe that way my body working against me then too.

I lost a lot of weight about 7yrs ago (100lbs roughly). I distinctly remember laying in bed one morning and admiring my slim tummy and saying to myself "No way am I ever getting fat again". Well... I got fat again. :( In some ways I think that people get complacent and it's not until you have regained weight that you…
