I'll eat my hat if it's not down to the exercise you are doing. I have only just started losing after 6 weeks of taking up a lot of exercise. I feel it in my body though, I feel much smaller and clothes fit better. Keep logging everything with a scale, keep drinking the water and give it a few weeks. Just make sure your…

Things I find that help my appetite: - Delaying breakfast and lunch for as long as I can, then I have less time to the next meal and that helps me cope. - Having a huge dinner at night, around 600 calories of a huge salad, cold chicken breast, grated carrot, beetroot, cottage cheese or grated cheese, steamed small…

Oh, and I supplement with Magnesium Citrate and Potassium. I'm prone to days of vertigo otherwise..

When I feel sick on a diet it's almost always my sodium being too low. I had a quick look and apart from one day your sodium is low. In the UK we have a calorie free broth called Boullion, do you have anything similar where you are? It's like a chicken/vegetable stock cube you make into a hot drink.

I think with contraceptives they just make you really hungry all the time. They don't make you gain weight, or stop you losing, they can just make it that much harder for those affected with an increased appetite.

I think maybe he thinks VLCD means "Very Low Carb Diet" ? It means Very Low CALORIE diet.
-
What did you eat yesterday? with the calorie breakdown.
-
Sounds interesting, I've not been to one so can't help with that part. Have you tried to write down your goals and gradually add them over time until you reach all of them?
-
Same for me, I feel awesome! Apart from swimming, that makes me sleepy for some reason lol.

I second Magnesium CITRATE < has to be the Citrate. Also, water, lots of water. Don't do what I did and ignore it, I ended up with an inside tear that took 2 years to heal :( Also, not sure about anyone else, but too much fiber can bung me up something chronic.. so be careful of taking to many fiber items.

Think of your calories as Saturday > Saturday. Say you can have 2000 a day, 14,000 per week. Sat & Sun you eat 6,000 calories. Leaving 8,000 for Mon>Fri. If you need to eat more, then you will have to exercise more. Or, pick a day, Sat OR Sunday, and use the same method.

I have only just started losing after 1 month of no weight loss due to exercise. Water weight, muscle build etc.. My clothes feel so much looser though!
-
My sleep is okay, plus I'd hate wearing anything at night, so no need for that function for me.. Okay, so just wear it in the day and let it sync, but keep adding in my gym and mountain bike sessions with my HRM.. The Polar doesn't sync with MFP, I have to enter it manually. Great info everyone, you've all been really…

Thanks Pav, that was a good summary and was very useful for me! You should work for FitBit :)
-
Okay, I'm getting the Zip.. it's cheaper and I will mostly use it on days out walking etc.. and use my Polar HRM for other exercise (cycling etc).. Will I be okay wearing it for a day here and there, or should I wear it every day? It's mostly for days out where I don't want to wear my HRM, but I know I'll be walking a lot…

There are a few watches out there that show the HR reading on the watch, but generally you need to wear a chest strap too. The Polar FT watches are what I use, there is also the FitBit Charge HR, you don't need a chest strap for that.
-
Oooooh... very nice! I think I might have to get something like this soon, I have a basic Polar FT7 but I like the features of this. Do you wear the chest strap with it? and do you use it for everyday activities or just for specific exercise?

I'm not sure, the way I do it is by putting it as sedentary and then logging the calories as I burn them. I suppose then I know exactly what I burned and what to eat. Enjoy your maternity leave. :)
-
Very true.. It's always been my biggest failure, giving in when I don't see results, but if I had just stuck to it then gradually I would have got to goal.
-
I'm so jealous
-
Sometimes it's a phobia rather than disliking the food, although it goes hand in hand. I am phobic of spiders, they might taste delicious, but I'm never going to want to eat them am I?

I love vegetables, but I also love your thread. The reason? My diets always fail because I try to be too "good", I eat the salads and the veg and skip the pizza/ice cream as I think it'll help me lose more weight if I eat "clean". This time around I'm having my favourite foods but fitting them into my calorie goal, and I…
-
Ah yes, sorry, you're right.. the Charge HR. Maybe I just need to take the plunge and get one! :)
-
It's probably the exercise, I have the same problem myself and so do a lot of others.. I guess it'll catch up at some point. How do your clothes fit?
-
Yes, me too. I completely spoils my enjoyment of the treat... My ex used to do this a lot and I then felt like a huge whale and made things worse for me. I also hate, "Don't you think you've had enough?".
-
Not snarky at all, thanks for explaining. I appreciate all of the replies.. I'm still not sure whether to get one, I guess I could always return it if I'm unhappy with it. I'd just love to see my daily burn change and I really do think it would motivate me to be more active. I also hate having to wear the chest strap as I…
-
I just noticed you said you have the FitBit "One".. which clips to your body. How does it know how active you have been and a calorie burn without the HRM part?
-
Yes, this is what I wanted it for, but I'm confused, sorry! So if I get one, won't it be inaccurate due to me waving my arms about a lot during the day? I don't mind buying a more expensive one with the HRM.. I just want something that adds up all those little extra's like you said, and also if I walk around the shops etc,…

My daily goal is 1700 cals to lose 1.5lbs a week.. I always feel as though it's too high, also 4 days a week I can burn an extra 5 or 600 cals, so then I get to eat 2300 calories or something.. it does seem crazy.
-
Okay, thanks for the advice everyone.. I guess as I hardly ever just go for a stroll then I may be better using the HRM for the actual exercise I do.
