Pulled The Trigger And Got A Garmin fenix 3

I started using activity trackers back around January, and initially I just wanted to track my steps and calories. Over the months I started getting more into exercise, and needed something with more than just a limited number of workout types. I started doing some research, and even tried a couple different devices. I then started comparing the higher end devices and came across the Garmin fenix 3. This device can be used for pretty much any type of workout you could ask for. It even has navigation so you can load courses that you have never done before, link them to a workout, and it will navigate you through the course and monitor your workout at the same time.
Today, I mapped out a 5 mile course at Tyler State Park. This park has very hilly terrain, and many trails. I started the course and selected hiking as the workout, and it guided me turn by turn through the whole course and recorded the workout as well.
It also has full activity and sleep tracking, and syncs with MFP.
You can also set custom workouts, like kayaking, or just about anything you can think of. It can also be used for mountaineering and has built in compass, altimeter, barometer, and thermometer. It has GPS and GLONASS too.
So far it is working wonderfully, and seems to be build like a tank. It has a stainless steel body, and a scratch resistant crystal face.
I figure that I have been taking exercise more and more seriously, and it would be well worth having a device that is not limited to a handful of predetermined exercise types.

Oooooh... very nice!
I think I might have to get something like this soon, I have a basic Polar FT7 but I like the features of this.
Do you wear the chest strap with it? and do you use it for everyday activities or just for specific exercise?0 -
