  • I've just started SL 5x5 3times a week. You only need a bench a bar and some weights.
  • I'm guessing your and ectomorph body type considering your height and weight. You need to count the calories and adjust them until you starting gaining. I'm currently on 3700 calories a day and doing SL 5x5 3times a week and only just gaining a pound a week which I'm happy with. Are you exercising alongside your hectic job?
  • I'm 5ft 9, 156lb and consuming 3600 calories a day and only just started to gain a 1lb a week. You can get a guide line from calculating your body stats but it's not set in stone. Everyone has a different way of burning up the calories. You might need more or you might need less. If you try a set amount of calories for a…
  • My protein intake is set to 1.1 for every 1lb of body weight. And getting plenty of rest and sleep. Also watching the macros. So hopefully I'm doing tall the right things to help build up the muscles. Thanks
  • Yes I've already set up MFP and am aiming to gain 1lb a week. For my height weight and age MFP put me on 2800 calories to increase but it didn't work out so I've steadily increased over the weeks until I got to 3600 and now I'm starting to gain a pound a week.
  • Im bulking and a hardgainer, so all calories are crucial. I'll try increasing the my calories by 200 on training days and see how I get on with that. Thanks for the help.
  • Not eating the pizza or burgers yet but I'm eating peanut butter sandwiches on a daily basis to help out at the end of the day. And I do consume all sorts of different nuts. Ice cream is quite good once in a while too.
  • Hi. I was like you in that I kept increasing the calories but was either losing weight or staying where I was. It wasn't until I went up to 4,000 that I started to gain weight. Keep increasing until you see a gain. Give it a few weeks & increase again if no gain. Both calories & carbs are King. Your macro set up is sound.…
  • Sounds like I'm going down the right road. It just seems strange consuming all these calories and loosing weight. I've never ate so much in my life.
  • Haha Brilliant. Very good advice :D Although I've got to suggest a couple of slices of bread to go with the peanut butter, goes down a bit easier
  • Make sure your getting your daily allowance of iron to help get the oxygen into the blood and into the muscles.
  • Make sure getting enough iron in your diet. It's main function is to get oxygen into the blood stream. I started getting calf cramping at night and since upping the iron intake, no more cramps. It worked instantly So if you're deficienct in iron it could greatly help you out.
  • I'm following the muscle primer plan from a book by Tom Venuto - "Burn the fat feed the muscle". It's the basic begginers plan 3 alternate days and then in 3 months I will progress onto a more advanced routine- TNB 28. I'm doing lunges, squats, chest fly, bicep curls, Romanian deadlifts, tricep extensions, planks leg…
  • I'm worried that adding even more calories will just be converted into fat. Im already finding it hard to reach my calorie limit everyday. What I would like is to gain muscle and then worry about the fat after. Yes I am weighing food, everything I consume so my 3100 target is down to a T.. Thanks for the input into the…
