Left the table feeling “stuffed & lethargic” - pure subjective feeling about the meal, that’s all

See a bunch of interesting stuff to read, but no option to write.

-
2/12 PM - 60ish minutes of walking followed by some stretching. Overall a good day - are “too much” & “some junk” for dinner but overall under calorie goal for the day - and logged it all (estimated, not weighed) - Drank more water than usual

I haven’t. Would you please point me i that direction. Thanks

Beat Navy! Retired US Army here. Good luck!

10/16 - 3 hrs of BJJ while visiting a school; likely not my new "home" - too far from where I will probably live but good people & so much better than hanging out in a hotel room. Lots of drilling of shrimping, oopa escapes, head lock escapes & then 5min rolling rounds.

Matt - 45, a no-stripe relatively new BJJ purple belt. Just starting (tomorrow) a new job in a new city so I've yet to find a new BJJ school - but I will as it's my exercise, social activity, and, in general, "sanity maintenance."

BJJ hobbyist/enthusiast here.

Unfortunately(??) no, the training schedule fits into the "life rotation" - but's that's probably OK as I'm a hobbyist who does it for pure enjoyment & personal development. Generally though: Wake-up & morning workout 45m-60m (some mix of cardio, strength training - some weights, but mostly just body weight,…

A third reason, sounding somewhat flippant but not intended that way - it's useful when having a discussion with the layperson/buddy you're trying to get to start training with you/friend or family member that says, "You still doing that [insert style] (South American Ground Karate, in my case)? Is that anything like the…

@CaptainBoing is a fencer

@bwmalone - I like your much more articulate expression than my brief thoughts. Noted that I'm a relative noob in a school/lineage that trains BJJ as a "complete fighting system" (striking, takedowns, grappling, "defense against surprise attacks"***, and an over-arching philosophy). ***the whole "street vs. sport" debate…

Certainly way more complicated I'm sure, but Hard - meeting force with a greater counter force to overcome opponent Soft - redirecting opponent's force to attack from a different direction And the two can certainly be blended with a single style/system. Yin & Yang, if you will...

Fellow BJJ hobbyist/enthusiast ("addict"). See below for a fair & justifiable "constructive criticism" I have been given about my over all demeanor.... My $0.02: Definitely go back!

Definitely only an estimate (http://timbrucejiujitsu.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-many-calories-do-we-burn-in-bjj.html), but it's at least something if wearing the monitor is impractical. Example is BJJ, but sure it could be applied to Krav Maga based on selecting some "about the same" type activities.

Swedish for "Speed Play" (I believe)

Fartleks! Funny to say, but basically pace/tempo interval work as described above.

Thank you for your service! Retired Army.

For me: it's huge. I'm a firm believer in the "Performance Triad" - diet, exercise, and sleep. When one gets out of wack, it definitely affects the other two (bad night of sleeping, don't feel like exercising & skip it, eat poorly because I'm sleepy). In most cases, with a little "suffering" it's somewhat self-correcting:…

Fellow BJJ Hobbyist/Addict!

A mix of cardio, strength (mostly bodyweight stuff with a couple of Olympic type lifts), and flexibility. Many of the solo drills I do (for BJJ) answer all three categories and sorta work on skill development (all though it doesn't really replicate rolling/live grappling). an example of the solo drills that I like:…

Retired Army. Thank you for your commitment to serve! Your recruiter should be able to provide you with a good, specific plan to help you get ready for BCT.

I'm trying to adopt & maintain the attitude below: Eat - to fuel the machine (right amount & "types" - while also enjoying it) in order to Train (to meet my specific goals)
