Love the baseball bat choke - I usually have more luck with the no-gi grip even in the gi (often have trouble getting grips in deep enough). Yep - I'm always sporting a bruise or two or more... RE: Ears. Lucky for our little gym, one of the brown belts is a Vet. Best pre-cauliflower ear drainer around... :)

Blue Belt - BJJ is my obsession...I mean hobby that I really like :) RE your questions (bear in mind that I'm a relatively junior blue belt & with the exception of a few brand new white belts that may or may not "stick around" - but really hope they do - I'm pretty much the most junior guy where I train). - I would prefer…

I saw and was motivated by a similar quote: "A year from now, you'll wish you started today."

I don't, but have heard chocolate milk lauded as a "recovery drink" that's just as effective as the "pricey, specialized" ones. Just don't stir it with your dork (carry over from another thread) :)

"Bur-pulls" - standard(?) burpee, which includes a push-up, with a pull-up instead of just jumping.

With that definition, definitely don't try to poke holes in the potato after it's been microwaved!
-
If you over do it, I suspect it does. I started out following the directions - 4 minutes (not done), +1...repeat until done. For the size potatoes I buy & with my microwave: about right is 10 minute for regular potatoes, 12 minutes for sweet potatoes.
-
The skin gets crispy like it's been in an oven - not "soggy" like I've done other ones in the microwave before. Previously, I didn't like the taste/texture of microwaved potatoes - now I do.

I've just thrown it in the washing machine with the towels & it's come out fine.

My advice & it's working for me so far: Eating less & moving more. The "moving more" is mainly just resulting in feeling better, the weight loss is from "Eating less." The "light bulb" moment for me was getting a digital food scale and using it - I had been WAY underestimating how much I was really eating. The final part…

I'm a daily weigher, for the same reasons, as well. What App is that (picture)?

Gillian - I'm a "data geek" and like seeing it + have learned to "emotionally disconnect" from one day's particular number and focus on the long-term. Commit for the long-term, lifestyle change and then just try it a few different ways and see what works best for you.

I don't think there is a right answer, only what is right for you. I weigh everyday - same time, same conditions & record it. I try not to focus on the daily ups & downs (the saying "Weight Loss Isn't Linear" is absolutely true for me), but rather focus on the trend line. Seeing it daily helps me keep routine things…

Not intended to be overly critical, but how do you know they're "great shoes?" I used to just get shoes that "felt" good on my feet. One set ended up giving me knee pain. Based on a buddy's recommendation, went to a specialized running store (specifically "Fleet Feet") - they gave me a test, and recommended a specific…

The health (or performance) triad - sleep, nutrition, and exercise. One "out of whack" can affect the other two.
