I use an arm band for my phone/music supplier and a hand holder for my water bottle. I'm a mouth breather and need a little water to combat dry mouth. My house key goes in the pocket of my water bottle holder.

Why? Continue doing what you are currently doing. If your real results jive with the data you're putting in, it's right. If you find your results are off, by a lot or a little, adjust accordingly. Calorie burn is an estimate at best, possibly just a guess.

Week 4 update: 4 runs; 2.6, 3.3, 2.6 and a long of 4.5. Total miles for the week 13. Feeling better every time out.

OK, so the official start date of my 30 week plan to the 10/18/2020 A.C.Marathon was 3/22/20. Started unofficially on 3/9 with a 7.75 mile week with two days of rowing in the gym (We all remember gyms, right?). Then a 10.5 mile week, no gym work, no wonder why, right? 4 days on the road, long run of 3.17 Then a 12.55 mile…

After, always after, after each and every run/workout. Each session begins with an active warm-up and ends with 15+ minutes of stretching and a mile cool down walk with the puppy. The puppy ensures that the cool down walk always occurs ;-)

The counting only works when I restrict the number I intake to less than my maintenance. Counting doesn't lose weight, eating at less than maintenance does.

Weekly update, week three: 4 runs; 2.55 miles, 3.10, 2.6 and a long of 4 miles a total of 12.30 miles. And the beat goes on...

What kind of coach are you looking for? Do a web search for that type with your zip/postal code and see what turns up.

Motivation during lockdown? You are doing the workout/training/exercises/program or whatever because YOU wanted to. You believe, or at least believed, that it was good for you and was/is something you wanted to do. The lockdown should not have decreased your desire to do something you wanted to do. The lockdown did not…

I would just log it as calisthenics, either for the real time I spent on the program or for the time that would count the calories the program said I burned.

There is only one thing worse than a first run after a lay off; not getting in a first run after a lay off. Welcome back.

Now, the "disagrees" are just funny.

Welcome back.

Week two of Novice Supreme Marathon Training Program; 4 runs, 11.2 miles, long run 3.6. A little less than last week, but last week was the product of a little over exuberance. Feeling better. 28 weeks to race.

I'm averaging 12:30 minute miles over 3.x miles on my runs. Can't remember when I last ran just a mile for time, outside of high school in '73. Of course, my time is not relevant to your experience. The only person against whom you're running is your former self. Better than yesterday, not as good as tomorrow.

I'm confused about the 3 disagrees. With what do you disagree? How I choose to spend my money? The fact that I care about my gym, and it's employees, going without and being able to continue? That I still patronize local establishments in an effort to keep them open and surviving? My employment has been determined to be…

First month update, although the month started on the 9th. 13 runs, 36 miles. It has begun and it now continues.

I frequently count my golfs rounds just as added steps with no separate listing for the round.

Retro Fitness offered several options including free training sessions, when this is over, suspending payment until reopened, or continue to pay. Much to the shock of my family, I opted to continue to pay. It's $24.00 a month, I'm still working AND getting paid, hopefully they are using the money I'm paying to lessen the…

My suggestion would be to fall back onto your base training routine as if you do not have a race planned. Race training is more taxing than base training and could cause undue stress. Work on what you feel you need without stressing too much.

Pre-program warm ups are now over as I am now 30 weeks out from my proposed marathon scheduled for 10/18/2020. The Higdon program, Novice Supreme, called for 4 runs totaling 9 miles with two long runs of 3 miles each. Feeling well, I did 4 runs totaling 12.5 miles with a long of 3.5 miles. And so it begins, We'll see where…

On occasion my heart rate jumps to a silly high rate when I just get started. Once I warm up and get into a rhythm, it goes to a more normal rate.

Ok, so we are now 30 weeks out from my proposed first marathon and time to start the Higdon Novice Supreme Marathon Training Program. All my work to date, from when I restarted, was a build up to this. Last week had 4 runs totaling 10.5 miles. So, 10.5 done and the first week of the training plan calls for 9 miles. I'm…

Weekly update: Just getting restarted, my 30 week program to the Atlantic City Marathon doesn't start until 3/22, but this week three days on the road (7.75 miles total, the first week of the program calls for 9 total) and two days 35 minutes on the rowing machine. Going to use the Hal Higdon 30 week novice supreme…

The bad news is that it is worse at the beginning. The good news is that it gets better with time and work. Keep on keeping on, slowly and gently increasing you distance and it gets better.
