Im 23, 5'11", 230, calories range from 1900-2100, and my fitness level is 0. I don't workout(which I am about to start because I'm not losing weight) and I have a completely sedentary job. You will only see good things from increasing you calories. You should be able to workout much harder.

The only carbs you should cut out are refined carbs like white bread, white sugar ect. There is an Australian man that just completed a year of just eating potatoes(white and sweet potatoes) and lost a ton of weight and potatoes are 90% carbs. Carb up the day before always. Something you eat an hour before is not what you will be running on. Clif bars/ medjool dates are great on the run to help in case of bonking, but if you eat enough carbohydrates the day before this will not happen.

Don't waste your money. Use any white bean(mild flavor) and blend it with any sort of fruit/nut you want. Protein packed and you don't have to waste your money on high priced protein powders.

You'll just have to choose which evil you more want to deal with. High intakes of either put you at greater risk for heart disease, cancer, strokes, the works.
