I turned 30 in September, wanted to do something big for my 30th so decided to train for a half marathon. I was a total novice and after 4 months training I did it a week after my birthday. I have lost 30 pounds from a starting weight of 192. I’ve got another 20 to go. Please feel to add me as I’d love some accountability…

Bump!

Replace 'fat' with 'fart' on the diagram and it's slightly more accurate

It's also worth mentioning that the reason for repeated failure is probably because they are starving themselves. Weight loss methods have to be sustainable in order to make long term changes. Quick fix methods, to me, shows a lack of really understanding why they are overweight in the first place.

I second this. The number of times I've heard "CICO doesn't work, I do Keto" drives me mad!

I too have this problem and while I'm still working on the self control element this is what I do: I want to lose 1 pound per week (-500 cals) so what I have done is switched my goal to lose 1.5 pounds (-750) and followed this during the week. Then at the weekend I know I have banked 1250 cals which is my buffer for…

Everyone here is right and speaking sense. The harsh reality is if you are calorie counting and getting the 1000 cal deficit needed for 2 pounds a week loss, then there is no way you will not lose weight. The only explanation is that your calories IN are not accurate, or your calories OUT are not accurate...or both.

Starvation mode doesn't exist so you can stop worrying about that. Nothing more than a myth. Losing 2 pounds a week, depending on how much you have to lose, might be a bit too steep a loss. And MFP doesn't tend to let you have the full 1000 calorie deficit you need to have in order to lose 2 pounds per week. A stall in…

However many MFP tells you! It all depends on your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) this is basically your daily calorie burn in total. MFP will have worked this out for you when you joined, or a quick google will find a similar calculator. To lose weight all you need to do is eat less calories than your TDEE, thus…

I'm no expert but aiming for 2 pounds loss a week is expecting too much, your TDEE looks to be around the 2080 mark. So to lose 2 pounds a week you'd have to have a deficit of 1000 cals. So you'll need to net 1080, which isn't healthy in my opinion, or remotely sustainable. Losing 2 pounds a week is actually very difficult…

I found it!!! From about 7 mins onwards... http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x12iizw_the-truth-about-food-how-to-be-slim-bbc-documentary-series_people

Me neither! So irritating

I seem to recall the one I'm looking for is much shorter, about 10 mins in length, and it is just about two friends. In the end they find that the slim friend moves a lot more and eats a lot less than the large friend, despite them both believing that the slim friend was the one who ate like a horse. They also found that…

Thanks for the links guys, this looks like a really good show and I'm about 15 mins in but I don't think this is it :'( I'll definitely pass this one on to her though

this is me! I can't trust myself to have cheat days

Before MFP, too many times to remember. Since MFP, once, and I'm making sure it was the last time.
-
I also have a charge 2. One strange thing I've notice over the last 2/3 weeks is that my MFP remaining calls were always less than my remaining Fitbit cals, they got closer together as the day went on but MFP was noticeably less over a week. Now though, they've swapped over. I've changed nothing on my settings, not even my…

I'm 5'7", lost 40 pounds last year and gained half of it back. I see it as a small victory that I got control of it when I did and I'm 7 down now on my way back to success. Hoping to lose around 30 more now to get to ultimate goal weight and finally delve into the maintenance board! Feel free to add me!

I'm 5'8. Looking to go from SW184 to 140 (6 down after 2 weeks). I actually set it to active initially as I exercise 6x a week which gave me 1590. I then realised you aren't supposed to take your exercise into account and as my job is an office job I switched it to lightly active which dropped it to 1230. I'm missing those…
