  • It’s effective as long as you have a total deficit at the end of the week. I’m hungrier some days than others. If I work a 10-12 hour day, I don’t think of food and have a larger deficit without feeling hunger. On my day off, I’m relaxing and watching Netflix and I’m hungry all day. As long as I stay under maintenance…
  • Honestly, my day to day life hasn’t changed a lot. My husband and I are self employed and work from home even before CV. I’m still logging my calories. I’m in maintenance and don’t intend to gain. I already worked out at home. Body weight HIIT routines. Beach walks with our dog. Bike rides in our neighborhood. The only…
  • @Igfrie. Grizzled old veteran huh? What does that make me? A dinosaur bone? I’ve been intermittent fasting since before it had a name. High school senior year 1979. Damn, I feel Old.😂
  • IF is probably one of the least complicated ways of eating around. Only people writing books and seeking YouTube and Instagram money & fame have complicated it. The basics: you don’t have to go low carb. You don’t have to drink buttered coffee . Lol. What a sin to ruin a good cup of coffee. You don’t have to ingest…
  • I second Piyo. I had started a strength training program and started getting pains in my knees. I switched over to Piyo thinking I’d just take a little break from the strength training and I’m surprisingly hooked on it. It’s challenging fitness wise, without beating up your joints,
  • I don’t know how serious you are about this relationship. Do you see him as the one? If he is, and your reason for talking to him is because you are concerned about his health. Then YES, by all means, have a gentle talk with him. If it is just a “contest” of, I go to the gym and eat well and you don’t...then I think that’s…
  • If you’re feeling so strongly this way, it’s probably because you haven’t come to the conclusion that healthy living is a gift you give to yourself. No one forces you. It is a daily conscious decision to try and eat healthier and move more. Do better things for yourself, and I’m sure with time you will love it, and this…
  • Ok. This is not right. I understand being addicted to the scale. I was for YEARS. I weighed every single morning. That in itself wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing if I was just collecting data, except if what I read on the scale didn’t match what I wanted to see, it would make me in a pissy mood, and basically ruin my…
  • I had to think about this— 1)I never just jump out of bed because once my dog and cat hear me stirring and stretching they run to kiss me. Love that. 2) I tell my man of 40 years everyday that I love him. Hugs and kisses are good for the soul. 3) I have a home based business and set my timer to step away from my desk for…
  • 100%. But only works when I weigh everything. I do wear a Fitbit also, but honestly my calorie burn estimates were pretty good before the Fitbit. I didn’t go by MFP estimates, which I think are a little high. I researched calorie burns for different activities. (I’m a numbers geek) But I intentionally came on mfp trying to…
  • @RunsWithBees absolutely beautiful.
  • To those saying that IF means not eating at night. That is simply not true. I’ve eaten within the same time window for 40 plus years. Since I was a 17 year old high school student. Just because I’m not hungry in the morning. Eating lunch during school or work made me want to crawl under my desk and take a nap. So, I quite…
  • Maybe I misspoke. Dinner sounded tiny. That’s probably where my focus was because that is my first true meal of the day. But, I think we have the same idea for OP. Maybe saving more calories for dinner. As a lifelong intermittent faster (hate that term because it sounds so “Trendy”) I never understood eating more food…
  • One other thing I thought of was putting egg whites in your oatmeal. My husband swears by it. It ups your protein with minimal calories and doesn’t change the taste.
  • I think you need to try different meal combos to find what satiates you as an individual. I only eat fish as far as animal meat, but I do not find it filling at all. I’m literally hungry an hour later. One thing that stuck out to me was that your meals sound tiny. At least to me. Im not advocating skipping meals if that’s…
  • Fashion is super important to me. Not in a trendy way, I have always bought quality classics pieces that stand the test of time. Investment pieces. Plus a little beachy, boho casual items for my Florida lifestyle. I was a size 8 for 40 years, so that’s what’s in my closet. I work hard to look good in them. And age has…
  • When you said that she speaks about other people’s weight in a judgmental way, it was then that I realized that this is what she does. Period. That’s why she said what she did to you. She sounds snarky and judgmental, and personally if I saw her, I would probably be polite but avoid her if I could. If she ever said…
  • Referral kickbacks. It’s a real thing, and seems to be pushed quite strongly in Florida where I live. I have to fight the feeling that ALL referrals are nefarious. I’m sure some are good and necessary, but I have had several referrals that I didn’t follow up on cause it just didn’t feel right. Many doctors in my area are…
  • @stdyh4nd Dang. Even your jawline sharpened. Nicely done!
  • Sounds like you have it under control. Listening to your body is so important. If you feel a possible injury coming on, if you feel excessively tired, or just sore, taking a day off now and then is smart. I also believe in active rest days. I don’t work out every day anymore, like I used to, so I try to just move around…
  • I don’t eat breakfast, but for my husband I make egg “muffins”. They’re really little egg fritadas that I make in muffin pans. I’ll put like 4 whole eggs plus a small milk carton sized egg whites with a little cream or milk and fork whip. Then I put whatever strikes my mood or is in the fridge. Last week I made them with…
  • I’ve been an intermittent faster for many, many years. I do it because it makes me have fantastic energy and more mental clarity. It also gives me an endorphin feel, or a happier disposition. I never really felt it was necessarily anything more than a way to more easily create a deficit and control your intake, because of…
  • Wow. Reminds me of the saying in the 90s. “Eat after 8:00, you’ll gain weight.” Bologna. My FIRST meal of the day is between 3pm-5pm. I eat up until as late as 10 or 11. Lost weight and now maintaining my weight doing this for years. All about calories in, calories out.
  • I have had a history with binge eating. I’m now much better than I’ve ever been, but I can have an occasional relapse and eat 3000-4000 or so calories in a day. My maintenance calories are about 1700-2000, depending on my activity. What has helped me, and I truly believe it is different for every person is: 1) small…
  • I love it. I’ve been an intermittent faster since the 1970s, way before it had a name. Lol. It’s just the way I like to eat. I fast during the day, but drink coffee & water. First meal is between 3-5pm. I stop eating at around 10 or 11pm. In bed at midnight. I like it because I have crazy energy when I’m in the fasting…
  • I haven’t been in your shoes, but I have a life long friend that was. She had over 100 lbs to lose. She had really never done any kind of physical activity. She said the 1st time she decided to walk around the one mile loop that is her neighborhood, she got so tired and winded that she suddenly burst into tears. She’s not…
  • Anytime someone starts with “you can’t have” when describing a weight loss regimen, I completely tune it out. I want to be able to eat ALL the foods I love. Life is much too short to live that way. And if they tell me fruit is bad for me, I run the other way.
  • Eating junk with a hangover is completely normal. Avoiding drinking to that degree is doing yourself a big favor. I’m a past every day drinker (haven’t had a drink in almost 5 years) but I never drank to that level. I think I would black out. My question is how you deal with 7 children with a hangover.😂😂 Hats off to you!
