  • No balls. Gotta insult people they don't know to feel good about themselves. Or they are just mondo misogynistic asswipes. No matter the reason, their words aren't worth the breath they wasted on them. I doubt they have any other redeeming traits, or worthwhile opinions. Sometimes eugenics doesn't sound so bad... (Not…
  • The rule should be whatever rule they choose to enforce, as is their right. Out of all the ridiculousness at PF, you guys are focusing on something that isn't, and shouldn't be an issue. If you want to harp on them, then do so about their hypocrisy, dress code, and woeful weight section, not the safety rules. Besides, if…
  • Yeah, if you want to do weight training, stay away from PF. Unless you like Smith machines, that is. I hate them, so I just do cardio there.
  • Like I said, they have cup holders. Every machine has at least one. It does make sense.
  • They don't allow gallon jugs for the same reason they don't allow gym bags on the floor. It gets in the way, and is a hazard. The cup holders they have will accomodate most normally sized drinks. There really is no reason to have that much water anyhow. I've been using the same 20oz Aquafina bottle since August. The only…
  • Pretty much everyday, here. Been Skittles the past few days.
  • I don't understand. I've lost 60 pounds since August. I drink beer, and liquor on a nearly daily basis. I try to have pizza AT LEAST once a week. And then throw in Tex-Mex, Korean food, burgers... I can fit all of this on 1500 a day (though usually closer to 2k after cardio). It's not what you are eating, it's how much of…
  • Click on their name. Either from your friend's list, or the forum. I leave it open. Food isn't exactly a private affair. I eat in public all the time, so I don't really care if people see my logs. It's also nice to have examples for people asking questions about appropriate food. I've never caught any flak for it, and I…
  • I find that low / no calorie sweeteners have no impact whatsoever. I mean, they kinda taste like crap, but otherwise...
  • Thankfully (or not, depending), cholesterol levels are more dependant on genetics than foods. Eggs are perfectly fine for you. Personally, I hate the taste of cooked eggs, so I only ever eat them raw (in smoothies), but ymmv. I tried adding a raw egg to oatmeal once. Would not reccomend. Dunno how I got it down. I like to…
  • Nah, water just makes me feel less thirsty. Unless I am already full, then I feel terrible. Sooo... I just reach for the snack! XD Except for times that I'm just bored, and want something flavorsome, like coffee. But that isn't the same thing. But, hey, if it works for you, that's pretty awesome. Sometimes I wish I had an…
  • Well, if you compare it to pop fitness, it is crazy. It's a pretty mind blowing revelation.
  • I just count calories and exercise. I enjoy exercise, so that part is relatively easy. As well, the more in-shape I become, the more I want to go outside and do physical activities. I recently started fishing, after over a decade off, and I plan on getting a pool membership when they open up (next month, I think). Now that…
  • If you aren't losing weight, then you aren't eating at a deficit. You are probably eating right around maintanence. If you want to lose weight, invest in a food scale, and set your food goal to .5-1 lb loss a week. Should start seeing results pretty quickly.
  • Makes no real difference. Your body doesn't care when you eat. Time your meals as best benefits you. For example, some people can't sleep if they are hungry, if that's you, eat before bed.
  • Hm, perhaps I misunderstood. I was taking it to mean that there was a time lapse between then 1k cal diet, and becoming obese again. If it is the case that you were eating at 1k calories, and still gained weight, then you were estimating your intake correctly. You cannot gain weight from eating too little. Get a digital…
  • Look at my diary, if you like. I eat all kinds of food. Just today, I had hundreds of calories of lemon curd, Skittles, and Peanut Butter M&M's. Macros and micros are not unimportant, but they aren't entirely relevant for weight loss. Sodium can make you retain water, which will make you weigh more, but water weight…
  • Yeah, first time I lost weight, I didn't notice loose skin until I was under around 240 (I was well over 300). I'm at about 220 right now, from 280, and it's pretty apparent. I would agree that the body is strange. It's neat to observe the changes you undergo while losing weight. What bones, muscles, and veins start…
  • Yep. For me, my stomach looks and feels a bit pebble-y. Kinda gross, but whatevs. Still look better even with the lumpy fat, than I did with the huge layer I used to have. I find the loose skin to be a bit more worrisome. When I do a pushup, it looks like my stomach is trying to detach itself, and slither away. Thankfully…
  • I'm kinda over the "more food" bit as motivation. But I can easily lose a pound a week on 2k cals a day. Ymmv! My motivation is mostly in looking and feeling better. I've got my resting heart rate down to about 55 bpm average, and I'm looking to lower it even more. I feel great, and that is motivation enough for me!
  • I would guess that you are underestimating your intake. Are you weighing all solids, and measuring liquids? If you aren't, then you should invest in a digital scale. They are pretty cheap, and make this process so much easier. Btw, do eat back exercise calories, just perhaps not all of them.
  • It's just vinegar. Nothing special about it. If you WANT to drink vinegar, go ahead. Cranberry juice is tasty, which makes it better than vinegar. What benefits are you looking for? It's like most fruit juices. It has some vitamins, and sugar. I get sleepy around 3 or 4 too, especially if I eat a decent lunch. I just power…
  • 6'3", about 220 lbs. On completely sedentary days (around 2k steps), Fitbit says I expend about 2.5k calories. That seems right. Fitbit estimated 3.9k calories expended on a day I got 15k steps. I was fishing, so I dunno how much heart rate variance effects thats. I feel like that's a bit high. I would say it's at least…
  • My sister made lemon curd for my birthday. I didn't count the calories until I had eaten all of it, 4 days later. Came out to be about 1600 calories for the whole thing. And when she made brownies last month? Or when she makes caramel popcorn? It's a wonder either of us lose weight, sometimes. Anyhow, yeah. If I make it,…
  • Sandwich Soup Frozen foods To be honest, when I am hungry around lunch time, I usually just get chips and jerky from the vending machine.
  • I have a Blaze, with plum straps. Looks awesome. The exercise calories seem fairly accurate for me, but I think the general calorie estimation is on the high side. I could probably make some adjustments to make it more accurate, but I can't be arsed. I just like having hrm logs to look at. The best things for me are the…
  • I've been testing my Blaze for the past couple of weeks. The overall calories seem to be exagerrated, but the actual exercise burns seem accurate enough. My problem is that it overestimates my active minutes. On active days, it's telling me to eat about 3k calories. I lose weight at that rate, but not at the projected 2…
  • That's assuming that the opposite of hedonism is self-denial. To me, the opposite of hedonism is seeking to please others, rather than yourself. Hedonism is, by definition, a selfish pursuit. Self-denial, while probably not hedonistic, is also probably not a selfless pursuit.
  • It's probably unnecessary. I have mine set to two pounds. I'm 6'3", and currently about 236 pounds, my goal is 185. That gives me just under 1700 calories a day when I don't do cardio. I was planning to go to 1.5 pounds soon, and 1 pound when I hit 200. If your goal is too aggressive for your size, then you run the risk of…
  • You don't need to do cardio to lose weight. Just eat at a deficit. I'd recommend getting a digital kitchen scale. Weigh all solids, measure all liquids. Set your deficit to no more than 1 pound a week, and with solid logging, you will be there in no time.
