started at 224. right now my goal is 169, which puts me at the top of the overweight bmi category and gets me out of obese. i'd eventually like to get back to about 145, but i was in the 160s in grad school and very comfortable with that. 140s wasn't maintainable for me long term. [and yes i know the bmi is not the be all…

my first mini goal was a pedicure at 219. i'm 218.8 today so i will be booking a pedicure for saturday morning if i'm 218.8 or less again tomorrow! mine are set up every 5lbs with a bigger one at 199 and 169, my current overall goal weight.

I use a mini muffin tin for mine and they're the perfect 2 bite size. Love zucchini tots!

If you've been eating low carb for a month but not logging, you have no idea how many calories you're eating. Carbs or no carbs, you won't lose weight if you're not in a calorie deficit. Log your calories for 2-3 weeks and see where you are. Make adjustments as necessary. If you find it easier to stay in a calorie deficit…

Depends on what you're wanting to calculate using said activity level. With a very active fulltime job like you describe, I'd probably put you in the active category, especially if you're consistently getting 5/3/1 in at the gym.

5x5 is incredibly simple and effective in terms of time vs results. It's about as full body workout as you can get. There are 5 basic lifts: squat, deadlift, bench press, overhead press, and row. You work out 3 days a week. Day A is squat, bench, row, and Day B is squat, deadlift, and overhead press. You alternate the 2…

I do a ton of meal prep for 1. On weekends I batch cook things like beans, lentils, quinoa, rice, and keep containers in the fridge. I also chop bell peppers, cucumbers, etc. Every morning I portion out how much I want for lunch and add them to a tupperware. I can't do reheated meat, so I do end up cooking chicken fresh…

What a great NSV! Congratulations :) :)

the part of your post i quoted had nothing to do with the relevance of the net calories. it had to do with the formula that calculates net calories and the way that information is displayed on the homepage/dashboard, which you also asked about. as to relevance, the idea is that you balance running a deficit with actually…

digital scale for solid food, liquid measuring cup for liquids. read the label of your food and it will tell you whether to measure in grams or milliliters.

that's literally exactly what the giant green 1080 says..

this is excellent advice.

I just learned about the Alta from this post, but Etsy is your friend when it comes to tracker accessories.

how do those macros make you think that's a 'protein' anything? this is a dessert.
-
Your question was already answered - it is not "bad" that you're over your protein. The recommended protein intake is considered by almost everyone on MFP to be set very low. While you're getting started, concentrate on staying close to your overall calorie goal. You will lose weight as long as you stay close to that…

You need to weigh pasta before you cook it. There's not a way to convert dry to cooked because there's really no way to know how much water your pasta absorbed during cooking. For an estimate, I'd say most pasta roughly doubles during cooking so you'd probably log 50-60g raw for your 100g boiled. In the future, you'll want…

lol 115 isn't anywhere near high. i'm on 175 and was on 200 for a time last year. you need to see a specialist.

how about you give us a list of the foods you can eat, and we can help come up with some flavor combinations that you might not have thought of. if you're not eating any fat or carbs, even for cooking, this is going to be bland and boring. but you obviously already know that, it sounds like.

Try hitting disconnect and closing out the app and then repeating everything. I had to do that with mine recently and now everything is working smoothly.

When was the last time you had bloodwork done to check your thyroid hormone levels? If you're having problems with weight loss, and especially if other symptoms are creeping back in, you might need your dosage adjusted. Other than that, follow the protocol for taking your medication correctly and consistently, eat a macro…

WW allows users to have fruits and non-starchy vegetables 'free.' They don't count towards points because the WW idea is that no one ever got fat from eating too many fruits and vegetables. It's a pretty dumb idea, if you ask me.

oh that sounds incredible.

The buffalo/hot sauce type is probably my favorite way to eat it. Dipped in some greek yogurt blue cheese, UNNF. I also fricken love cauliflower soup. And I love it mashed. I've made a cauliflower alfredo before, subbing in pureed cauliflower for the cream and it was bananas good. No bad way to eat it! When this fricken…

Nekkid. My sleep clothes add anywhere from .6-1.1lb so I just brave the chill for 30 seconds and weigh in the buff.
-
Are you weighing your solid food on a scale and measuring liquids with measuring cups? If not, you're off on your calorie estimates and eating more than you think. Water weight fluctuations aren't uncommon during different phases of the cycle, so you might have seen a move on the scale because of ovulating.

Prelogger here! I log the night before so I know what to pull out of the freezer. I've begun to relish the challenge of hitting my macros as closely as possible and I can only really do that if I pre-plan. Rarely do I go through an entire day without tweaking something, but it gives me a start. Example, I originally…

Do you like the taste of the chocolate pb? I usually use the plain chocolate and didn't realize I had picked up a peanut butter chocolate until i got it home and had cut it open. I like the chocolate pretty well but I'm a little scared to try the pb chocolate. Do you use water or a milk to make your shake?

+1 for both convict conditioning and you are your own gym. the 5x5 app makes weight lifting in the gym so easy, once you have access to one. CC or YAYOG will get you a great foundation in the meantime!

i use the Aqualert app to track my water intake. it lets you choose how much you want to drink each day and then you can tell it how often to send you a push notification to remind you to drink. they also just started doing a thing where every couple of days you get a 'gift' for meeting your daily goal. i've racked up 3…
