Thank you for the photo showing how that lovely piece of ash is being used. It should make portaging a bit easier. :)

That is odd so I went looking for why and I found this. http://lightningsafety.com/nlsi_pls/indoor_pools.html but then I found this: http://www.sportrisk.com/2011/08/the-myth-around-closing-indoor-pools-when-theres-lightning/ The facts seem to support the latter but I am not an expert.

I like how mom seems vaguely amused and is staying out of it.

Yup, protect the hair. :)

5000 yards @ 1 hour and 40 minutes - people talk to me...what is that about? 10 x 100 @ 1:50 descending 1-5, 6-10. I love it when a plan comes together. :)

5000 yards @ 1 hour 39 minutes Favorite set 10 x 100 free @ 1:50 (1:32, 1:32, 1:33, 1:32, 1:31, 1:31, 1:30, 1:30, 1:29, 1:28). I am in better shape than I realized and need to push for a bit more. *little happy dance*

Obi Wan so nailed it. Man...some days I am like...oh yeah, forgot I had that muscle there...and there...oh yeah and over there.

Always appreciate a nice piece of ash.

Had not seen this thread before, cool information and now I must check out the Tempo magic pro, as I have just been playing what makes me happy. Should be interesting to see what happens. Swim gear includes: speedo vanquisher goggles which I love, speedo silicon cap (even with short hair I am used to wearing one),…

So read through all this and find it interesting. I have found that as I returned to swimming my focus has been on getting the stroke technique right, to avoid injury and maximize efficiency. With time and conditioning, stroke rate will increase, or that is my theory and I am sticking to it...for now. Perhaps this is a…

Well remember I am doing similar intervals but doing yards not meters so a bit easier. 5000 yards @ 1:38 Just less rest between sets.

@CafeRacer808 has a point but that does not solve the now issue, therapy takes time and the reality is that you will always have feelings that make you uncomfortable. So perhaps as a two prong approach along with working to understand your feelings better, try going for a walk or doing some other physical activity? I know…

CICO is the starting point. Then you take into account things like health issues. It will always start with CICO though and you can't even begin to assess what your CI if you don't log accurately. CO is trickier to track, just look at the different rate of calorie burn between Fitbit and MFP for the same exercise and time…

4000 yards @ 70 minutes - elbow still a bit tweaked
-
4000 @ 75 minutes - elbow is sore, so sorting out what is causing it so that I can continue while it heals. I have a feeling it is something I am doing on my flip turns...oddly enough. Rest it over the weekend.

On my days off from the pool, I walk anywhere from 4.5 to 7 miles along the river. I keep a pretty good pace (3.5 miles per hour).
-
4500 yards @ 85 minutes So my typical workout, but I tried something different towards the end on my last set of 10 x 50's. I am typically a two beat kick sort, and I worked in 6 beat kick on the freestyle portion. I have always done a faster kick on backstroke so that was no different. Wow, it feels very different. I may…

@juliet3455 Love all the pics and congrats on your HM and the PB. And here I complain when it gets down into the 30's F. Some of the tactics for long distance running, sound a lot like open water swimming tactics...not that I have done that in ages. Thanks for sharing!

4500 yards @ 85 minutes

I do love that one as it shows the depth and level of Calvin's love for Hobbes. I mean who else would you sit and watch a dryer for?
-
So. Much. Fun.
-
@emmab0902 - you know I would, but I would be fibbing! 4000 yards @ 1:10. I knew there was a reason I swam before the age groupers.

Welcome @yogiswimmer !

Timing is everything.

I am spoiled, most days I have the lane to myself. 4500 @ 80 minutes.
-
Oh wow, okay acting script. Got it. Man some days I am slow. 4500 yards @ 80 minutes *little happy dance* Best pull set 5 x 200 @ 3:30 all below 3:00 with best time of 2:53. I know Emma kicks my *kitten* as not even considering yards to meters.

And yet you had a great result at this meet! So inspiring.
