  • Welcome @tnh2o, or I guess welcome back! Glad you have you here and that you ate getting your health issues under control. Sounds like you are doing great in the activity department.
  • If you use the protein drinks, I really like the ready made Premier Protein shakes. They have 30 gm of protein for 160 calories. They are great for a quick snack or if you are out and about and don't want the calories of fast food. My favorite is salted carmel but the chocolate and vanilla are good also.
  • So glad you're getting back in the groove. Sometimes just reading the posts in this forum can help get you in the right mindset. Reading posts that give encouragement and support always make me feel better if I'm having a hard time.
  • @AnnPT77 Yes, the things we have planned with the kids involve a lot of walking! Will probably need to take the stroller fir the 3 yr old....better than carrying him when he gets too tired. Sounds like you'll keep your activity up, too, with that DIY project. Sounds like a good substitute for strength training also!
  • As far as an update, starting Memorial Day, my aqua classes at the Y went outdoors. I have not been able to attend any yet because 1. The pool water was icy cold (not heated) and 2. This last week has been cold and rainy so they ended up canceling classes for 3 days. I'm planning on going tomorrow and Tuesday. In the…
  • So glad to see you back @coblujay! I 100% understand where you're coming from. I have, in the past, lost a significant amount of weight, only to gain it all back after a major life event. The last time was in 2014 when my dad fell and fractured his neck in 4 places. He was the primary care-taker for my mom, who had…
  • So many great ideas here! Recently I have found a way to improve my NEAT by walking around my house while my tea is brewing. I cut waaay back on the amount of diet soda I drink about 5 months ago, and started drinking tea instead. The last 2 months, instead of sitting down while my tea brews, I started walking around the…
  • Yes, I agree with prior posters here that 173 g of protein would be really hard to do while in a deficit, and even in maintenance it would be way too much for me! I am a lot older than you and slightly shorter, 5'3.5", and my personal trainer told me to get a minimum of 100 g a day of protein while losing weight in order…
  • I don't know how old you are, but you look fairly young in your profile picture, which means you can build muscle faster than us older women. I think you would be amazed at what you are able to accomplish with weight lifting. You have to have a good progressive lifting program, and be consistent with it. In order to reach…
  • You are such an inspiration!! This is a powerful post. You have such a positive uplifting attitude.
  • @BCLadybug888. I love that you are going on all these trips!! We plan to start traveling more now that the pandemic is winding down. Things are still kinda volatile with the airlines but getting a lot better than it was. I also want to congratulate you on maintaining your weight. So hard to do on vacation. I bet those 2…

  • Thank you @BCLadybug888! I am actually looking forward to my next doctor appointment in July. Hoping the results will let me drop some of my meds. However, I'm well aware it's not just lifestyle and that there is a genetic component. Especially, for me, I may not be able to get off blood pressure meds totally. My mom had…

  • Seeing that is so inspiring! Thanks for posting!
  • Find the things you can eat that fills you up. For me it's protein and fiber. Especially fiber. Apples are my best friend. I love them and an apple will keep me fill for a long time. I also like things like carrots and celery. Cut up raw vegetables are low in calories yet very filling because of the fiber. Everyone here…

  • Congratulations. You look fantastic! What an inspiration for your kids and for those of us on MFP! Great job
  • @springlering62 All I can say is WOW! You go girl! That's fantastic!
  • @AnnPT77. Yes, we did go try out the lighter bars, and I do think I will practice with them for form. They have a lot of those at the Y, starting at 20 lbs all the way up to very heavy. I wasn't sure how heavy they went up to, but I did see a 90 lb one. So I do have choices. All of this was in a part of the gym I don't…
  • I have not posted here in a while. Middle of January I got Covid, then Covid rebound. While the Covid infection itself wasn't too bad ( no hospitalization, and it did not effect my lungs, which was my greatest fear since I have asthma and mild COPD), I did have some longer term after-effects, including daily headaches, and…
  • Thank you @alteredsteve175 . Nice to see you posting here. I'm glad you are at least able to maintain your weight with all you have going on. I hope the cortisone injections help your wife's knees.

  • I don't like the term cheat days. I often have one or two days on the weekend where I eat higher calories. Usually when family is here and we go out to eat. I still do my best not to eat too many calories, and I log absolutely everything. If I know this is coming up, I eat lower calories during to week so the calories all…
  • By the way, you CAN do this. It takes diligence and commitment, but you can do this!!!

  • I am 70 yr old and have lost 115 lbs using My Fitness Pal. The only macro I count is protein and try to get a minimum of 100 grams a day. I don't pay any attention to micros. However, I do try to eat in a more nutritious way than I did prior to losing weight. I try to spread my protein throughout the day, and now only eat…

  • You look awesome! Great swimsuit choice!
  • Calories are what matter for losing weight. I do monitor protein though. That is to maintain as much muscle mass as possible. I try to get a minimum of 100 grams a day. But as far a losing weight, calories are what matters.

  • How's everyone doing? Yesterday I saw 124.7 on the scale. And on Wednesday I was able to wear my size 6 jeans comfortably. Wearing those jeans was a goal I had before I officially declared myself in maintenance. Since August 1, 2021 I have lost 115 lbs. When I started I did not know what my final goal weight would be. I…
