  • This is also a goal of mine! I want to be able to get up and down off the floor without using my hands! A year and a half ago I could not get off the floor without crawling to a piece of furniture to help me, so I have been thinking about this quite a bit recently and plan to start working toward it.
  • @sandramarshall200 I second everything that @ridiculous59 just said. The best advice I have received through this forum was to buy a kitchen scale and weigh your food instead of trying to estimate your portions. Even using measuring cups, etc does not give you the accuracy of weighing your food in grams. It does become…
  • @ HaHa! Sorry Ann. That was meant to say have fun with your banjo, not bango. Lol
  • @AnnPT77 Yes, I understand what you mean by wondering how you'd do if you get Covid. I was in the same boat. Respiratory infections always hit me hard. They tend to be worse and last longer than most people because of my lung issues. So I was pleasantly surprised the covid did not drop to my lungs. Like you, I was fully…
  • I haven't posted in a while, but the day after I posted last, I tested positive again for Covid. The line was very faint so I had it confirmed by a diagnostic lab. Yep, sure enough, I had Covid rebound. Symptoms had come back but not as bad as before. No fever this time, but sore throat and sinus congestion along with…
  • Welcome back @1poundatax. And welcome to all who have recently joined this thread. This is a great place to come for support and advice.
  • @swimmom_1 it sounds like your getting back into the swing of things! I bet it feels good to get your groove back!
  • @AnnPT77. Yes, I hate the idea of not being able to bounce right back after this illness. But patience and persistence, while not being my most favorite mode of operation, is probably the best route to go. Especially as we get older. I would rather go slowly and consistently and get there without injury or other health…
  • @AnnPT77 Thank you!! This provides me with a good guidance on how to get back to it. It sounds like what I am experiencing is not unusual and I will listen to my body and stop if I need to. I especially liked their guidance on a structured plan to gradually get back into strength training over 4 weeks based on a reduction…
  • Let's talk about lasting side effects related to Covid. It's been 13 days since I tested positive and a week since I subsequently tested negative. I did have a pretty high fever, above 102° for about 3 days and a low grade temp for 2 additional days. For the first week I also had bad sinus congestion, sore throat, chills,…
  • Fantastic accomplishment! You look amazing! Thanks for posting. Your pics are so inspiring.
  • This morning, Jan 29th, I weighed in at 134.6 reaching my goal a few days early from what I posted above. My next mini-goal is 130 lbs. Giving myself a couple months to reach that as my weight loss has slowed down quite a bit, which is to be expected this close to goal. I would like to be 130 lbs by April 1, 2023.
  • @alteredsteve175 Hang in there and know we are here for you. I think of you often.
  • Welcome @Elwin5 . This is a great supportive thread!
  • @BCLadybug888 Yes it sucks. Just hope it stays fairly mild and doesn't move into my lungs. Still running a pretty high temp even though I've been taking ibuprofen. I think that's what is causing me to feel light headed when I get up and move around. Also maybe a little dehydrated. I went 7 hours without needing to use the…
  • After almost 3 years of avoiding it this morning I tested positive for covid. Symptoms include sore, scratchy throat, bad sinus congestion, headache, chills, and just a little bit ago a temp of 102.6. I'm fully vaccinated and boosted, but my doctor prescribed paxlovid for me anyway because of underlying conditions of COPD,…
  • Thanks @ninerbuff. My goal is to work on a progressive training program while avoiding injury and I value your opinion here.
  • I met with my trainer today for the final session of my introductory package. We concentrated on Ball Squats, Romanian Deadlifts, DB Row, Steps ups using dumbells, with variations of step ups with front raises, stepups with side raises, and glute bridges. She really concentrated on getting me to use good form with either…
  • Today my trainer at the gym asked me to come speak to her weight loss support group next Thursday. She said having someone my age come talk to them about how I lost 100 pounds would be so motivational to them. She said some in the group just don't believe they can do it and they are younger than me. I was going to do it…
  • Welcome to all the new posters here. You will find a lot of support and excellent advice here.
  • It is so nice to be able to find clothes in regular sizes. Bart, I don't know if it's the same for men but the plus size clothes for women are so limited in both quantity and style as compared to regular sizes. @springerling62 I also buy clothes in smaller sizes on purpose. Especially if I find something I really like on…
  • My son and daughter-in-law got me a sweater for Christmas in a size large. It was too big, so yesterday I exchanged it. I thought I would need a medium, but no, a small fit me perfectly!
  • It's an amazing feeling when you first discover you can do that, isn't it. I'm 70 and understand totally what you're feeling.
  • @alteredsteve175 I agree with BCLadybug ...you are an inspiration. You have a very difficult job caring for a terminally ill spouse, and very emotionally draining. I am so glad you have friends checking in on you every few days. That helps to elevate your mood so much. I am rooting for you to cross over into onederland…
  • @Wynterbourne I would definitely call that a NSV!
  • Hello to all the newbies here! I know how overwhelming needing to lose a lot of weight is. But I want to encourage you by letting you know it can be done. I am 70 years old and have lost around 100 lbs so far. It really does help mentally to break it down into smaller goals as others have mentioned. This website is…
  • @ridiculous59. Another beautiful winter picture! Looks like the dogs are keeping him good company. It's so bright and clear there!
  • I so agree with the others here that say lifestyle is more important than age in losing weight. I know for a fact, outside of planned exercise, that I am more sedentary now than I was when I was raising children and working a full time job. I just want to encourage all the newbies on here to not let age hold you back. You…
  • About 6 weeks ago I purchased size 8 jeans because they did not have a size 10 short in the ones I wanted and it was a really good sale. At that time I could not zip them up at all. Today I was able to get them on comfortably and they zipped up all the way!
  • @springerling62 I ALWAYS retain water when I fly. Especially if it was a long flight. I'm usually up 6-7 pounds. You can see it in my lower legs and feet, especially my ankles. We recently returned from a vacation in Hawaii and I didn't even weigh myself until I'd been home and back to my normal routine for a full week. I…
