Sounds like a familiar story. I am not trying to run a triathlon but it sounds like we have similar starting, current and weight loss goals. Good luck! I will send a friend request.

Good luck, you can definitely do this. Take it one day at a time and log your calories. It's taken me 40 years to feel like I have a moderate level of control over my bad habits. Im not perfect but have learned to not beat myself up too much either. Feel free to add me as a friend.

The first day back to the gym can be very hard but remember that it gets better every day. Don't push it to hard, don't expect miracles, just walk in the front door and do your workout. The next workout will be better and better and better, etc. You can do it!

I tend to go for either a protein shake or half an avocado with cottage cheese. Simple and fast.

I put on a pair of pants that I bought years ago and have never been able to come close to buttoning. They were loose!!

Great plan, hitting small goals is key for me as well. Good luck!

I dont personally plan my meals because I work from home which makes it easier for me to eat healthy. My wife however preps and packages individual portions every Sunday for the week ahead. I sometimes wonder how good the food tastes by the time Friday comes around but it certainly helps her stay on track.

Great job on the weight loss this year! I am down about 45lbs and am focused on losing 35-45 more. Staying focused and motivated is key! Good luck! Will definitely add you.

You got this!! You can definitely do it. Now I am going to get off my butt and go to the gym!

I like this a lot. I need to learn to do better in this regard.

I started doing the same thing a few weeks ago...seems to be working so far. Good luck!!

More friends would be great. 45lbs down and 30 to go! Feel free to add me.

I am in the same boat. Mid afternoon munchies are a struggle. I try to keep almonds on hand to take the edge off. I know that isnt sweet and salty but it tends to work for me. Ive also started keeping muscle milk 100 calorie shakes in the fridge in case I just need something.

Great message and thanks for the extra motivation. Nice job on the 35lb loss, keep it up!

I can totally relate, I am in a very similar position. The hardest thing for me is getting back on track after returning from a trip where I haven't eaten great. It seems to take me a few days to recover. Some trips are better than others but it is a constant struggle to stay focused and not let the trips get out of…

I totally understand and have been there throughout my adult life. For me it just comes down to planning better, staying focused, and not beating yourself up to bad if you slip up. Just get back on track because over the long term you will continue to shed pounds even with a few mistakes along the way. You have to find…

Count me in!!! I love avocados. I usually mix them with tuna, cottage cheese, or chicken and put a little mild hot sauce on it. This is my go to staple on a daily basis.

I also have the eatsmart and it has always been consistent. I dont move it though and it always stays on a level surface.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I think I might try the Stronglifts idea but probably wont cutout cardio. Ive found that I shed weight more consistently when doing cardio. Yes, I know, it's because of calories in vs calories out but I am not at a point where cutting more calories is something I am willing to do. :)

I have tried alternating workouts (cardio one day and then weights the next). I am only making it to the gym 5 days per week which would only allow 2 days per week of cardio or weights. This doesn't really feel like enough. My goal is two part, build muscle for health benefits and drop 35 lbs to reach my goal weight.

I find that weighing daily keeps me more focused and on track. If I go a few days without weighing it is usually because I am cheating and I have to call myself out and get back on the scale. I don't worry to much about the fluctuations as long as I am trending down over the weeks.

I tend to see a greater weight loss when cutting out alcohol partly because of the calories in the drinks but also because I tend to want to eat more after a few drinks. I still enjoy a cocktail now and then but if I want to lose weight I have to avoid it.

Wow, very impressive. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for all of the great feedback. I have been that typical up and down guy my whole life and tend to fall apart once I hit a plateau. I know myself well enough now to be honest and say that I have been slacking the last 6 weeks. It is less of a plateau and more of a lack of sticking with the program. I usually workout…
