  • We're with you! I'm 68 and decided "never give up" has to be a motto. If we fail today, tomorrow we may succeed. Have you noticed that when God calls you to fast, it's a lot easier than when we ourselves try to give up foods? I suspect that's just one example of Him being strong in our weakness, and letting us know He's…
  • Know what you mean! The more carbs you have the more you want! Simple carbs make glucose spike, which, along with the insulin changes, makes you hungry. Then when your insulin levels fall fast after the spikes, that also makes you hungry. Like skinnylynnie and Julene, I had to go REALLY low carb for a time to reset, then…
  • Hi new member BrandiLynn - You do have your work cut out for you - With 5 kids you can't rid your home of tempting goodies. Is there a way you can incorporate them in a regular fun "exercise" plan to increase your activity level? Maybe all of you going for walks together several days a wk. Or join them in play activities…
  • I'm going to try posting again and see if I can find this site in the future to be involved. We'll see - I'm really bad with computers/technology. Anyway -- I have tried wt loss in the past and this time around I'm finding that 2 things are helping. 1) a partner - hubby is finally doing this with me and it helps that all…
  • I'm also new here. My main goal is to lose the weight I've gained since our missions trips early 2019 (Suriname & Cuba). The next one is going to be a construction trip, and I need to get off at least 20 lbs. If I can't lift myself, how am I going to lift those buckets of cement, right? Hubby is doing it with me this time…
  • Finally restarted wt loss again. I also ended up with the ultrasound treatment and, although there was actually more pain the first month or so, it fixed the problem. At age 68, I just restarted ballet (haven't done that for 40 years!). And Cherimoose - ouch -- you are right! Bummer when my 'excuses' are called out.
  • Well - Took a couple of years off and ended up gaining back all but 2 lbs. But now hubby said it's time for him to lose too, so we're starting together. Should be easier without all his delicious home baked goods and carb laden cooking around all the time. Also, even though I'm 68, the only exercise I've ever really loved…
  • Thanks. Will keep that in mind - although at my age I have too darned little to hide! :/ Some hunting fails, but the guys at church already know about them thanks to my hunting partner. But that's about it. Smiling, Sue
  • Catching up on an old issue: Just to let you know, the fasciitis got pretty bad - had to wear custom orthotics. But, I ended up getting some type of powerful ultrasound treatment which totally worked. No more orthotics, and rare twinges. Back to being active. And in response to Cherimoose, you are right!
  • This is cool. As a 67 yr old woman, I appreciate finding a site geared to my group. I've used myfitnesspal before, but always for temporary weight loss goals (to keep up with the younger folks during hunting season or to make it easier on missions trips). This time I'm doing it for my own comfort, and a different mindset,…
