Good work everyone! The results are starting to show.

Stretch, stretch, stretch!! Hopefully it's not bad, but if it persists you may want to see a doctor. Besides that, try doing calf raises from a step/stair so that your heal drops below level. You may want to look at the shoes you typically wear as well. Basically you need to strengthen the muscles within the foot/feet, so…

Weekly Challenge.... I hate to admit it, and it is by far my least favourite song, but I did a little bit if "whipping" and "ne-ne-ing" over the weekend. The other song that you will randomly see me busting a groove to, is Uptown Funk.

Just weighed in. Not a great week for results, but not bad either. The challenge seems to be the traveling weekends that tends to happen this time of year. Getting closer to Christmas always means a bit of travel to see family and friends, which of course means to eat more that you typically would, and consume a few too…

Welcome! We look forward to your encouragement, and to hear about your half marathon journey.

Have a great weekend team! Keep up the motivation, and here's to moving up in the team rankings!! :)

Welcome James! I would echo what Moby mentioned, in that we all have to start somewhere. The intention behind this group is just that as well. Yes there may be a few of us who have been running for a few years, but those of us who have a bit of experience are here to help the "newbies", and anyone else who needs a boost.…

I always run with music myself. What I like to listen to (personally) when I'm out, is something that has a good beat/rhythm that will allow me to be comfortable and enjoy the run. If metal, grunge, and alternative is your thing, there are all kind of song that will work. There will always be a song on your playlist that…

It is always good to have a goal, and especially if you love it. Welcome, and lets work on getting you to those 5K's.

Thanks for this. These are great!

Motivation is key!

It is very exciting to have a new addition to the family. I remember when my wife was pregnant with our first, which happened after running her first marathon (funny things happen). She went through a similar process to what you are going through now, and couldn't wait to get back out running again. From what I remember,…

Thanks for checking it out. Just to reiterate, this group is not for the competitive, but more to help motivate in any way we can. We will welcome anyone and everyone.

If I did about a million jumping-jacks in a workout I did on Monday, does that excuse me from missing a couple of days??
-
Ah yes...I remember that your neck of the woods always seems to get a good amount of snow. Brings back memories of when I was a kid in London, and climbing EVERY snowbank on the way home from school.
-
Who all has snow?! Ottawa just got some (a bit of a teaser really) for the first time this season last night!!
-
I love running in the fall. I'm kind of enjoying the delay of the snow, but you can smell it in the air. We'll get the 'dump' soon.
-
Ok Purple People...we have to pick up our socks, and start motivating each other. Let's start kickin' these other teams a@#, and win this thing!!

I wouldn't mind the warmer temperatures, but I could do without the rain. Not much you can do outdoors in those conditions.

I was just in Guelph over the weekend, and we woke up to more than just a dusting. I have to admit though, I was a little disappointed to see the snow didn't go any further east as we headed down the 401. Congrats on your soon-to-be addition to the family. It will be some of the best times and challenging times of your…

I grew up in London, but moved to Alberta shortly after high school. I'm in Ottawa now, but I still root for the Knights whenever I see them.

I just hope I entered everything in correctly, and in a timely manner.

It's hard to know who is active and who isn't. Not everyone is able to comment regularly throughout the week. What matters is that our team members are submitting their data each week, but even that is hard to know who is/isn't doing that. The best we can do is keep doing what we're doing, and hope others are as well. Even…

I'm with you on this. I have similar thoughts towards myself, and want to get in better shape so I can stay active enough to keep up with 2 kids who have endless amounts of energy!! Motivation is key, which I can give, but also need in return. Let's do this!
-
I'm always up for meeting new friends!
-
Anyone who is willing, let's add each other (if you're Canadian), and keep the motivation going. What I really mean is, we can trash talk each other, and make fun of your favorite hockey team in the process!! GO LEAFS GO!!!

Ottawa here!!

As they say...great minds think alike!

In response to the processed food, the simple answer is that I try to avoid it all together. Processed meats and me don't get along, so it's easy to avoid that. My wife is a dietitian as well, so she is good about cooking with the good stuff and keeping us in check. With that said, I do like to indulge in to the junk food…
