Cool, thanks :)

thanks for the explanation :)

I'm not a doctor or female, but may I suggest consulting a doctor for this question?

Please be sure to take the salt with extra water - just taking salt by itself will solve the problem but can cause dehydration, so a lot of us (myself included) drink broth (I *just* finished my third cup of the day).

Although I like milk and sweetener in my coffee and in my espresso & water (the Americano), I don't really know if I'm brave enough to try coffee and oil or coffee and butter with other stuff. Also, I don't understand the appeal. Someone want to tell me? The Wikipedia page on this is a little sparse.

Be fearless, try new things, don't be afraid to fail, and from my own personal experience, when I'm "creating" a new recipe, I tend to make a lot of "blehhh" tasting stuff until I find out how to "tweak" it and make it better. It might take me 5-10 attempts to make something new that is "edible enough" for others to eat…

What others have said above me sounds good, and to go onto your original post, I think that exercise may help you in a couple of ways - it may "loosen your bowels" so to speak, and it may also kickstart your weight loss again. I'm a big believer in exercise as one of the keys to the kingdom of healthy, happy weight loss.…

I assume you're in counseling with a therapist for your BED? Sometimes, knowledge is the best "cure". Perhaps if you talked with a nutritionist - someone who knows about BED and LCHF - and if the nutritionist explained a detailed diet plan to you that might work for you - then perhaps you might feel less overwhelmed about…

Ah, I missed reading that bit. Still, I'm of the school that it's really hard to OD on water, so...imo, more water is probably best, as well, as "plenty of water" might be 6 cups a day, for all we know ;)

I get my fat primarily from egg yolks. It doesn't sound like much, but 16 eggs later, it adds up. I suppose that is from an animal, though.

Sounds great, everyone! I'm happy for your plans and thank you all for providing me with this great info! I've modified my diet accordingly, in part thanks to all of you who replied in this thread

On this topic, to piggyback on what everyone else has said, I'd also recommend upping your water intake - taking additional sodium without extra water, as well, can lead to dehydration. I can cite some Livestrong article if you want to read about it

nice!

Also, CICO is important, in my opinion, but not everyone agrees - it's a debatable issue, with good points on both sides.

When I started this, I was advised to consume more salt than I was used to, as my blood pressure dropped (and caused dizziness), so I began regularly drinking some broth (a boullion cube and hot water does the trick, stirred up). I don't know what is best for you, but that helped me.

This isn't "coffee"? but my favorite is a Cafe Americano from The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf - in my opinion, they're better than Starbucks, in terms of the quality of their stuff, at least for this drink. I have one every day, with a bit of milk and Splenda.

Thanks all, and lowjax that's a great idea - I'll consider using less greek yogurt and more fruits, like blackberries. Thanks!!!

Ice cream - that's really high in fat and low in protein. Oh wait, did you mean that's also LC?
-
What I do is drink broth a few times a day - a boullion cube in a cup of hot water, stir, and drink.
-
Thank you!
-
I'd stick with broth - it's great, yummy, and easy to just pour hot water in a cup with a boullion cube at the bottom, and stir until mixed well. Goes great with hot tea with splenda for dessert.

This is a question that has dogged me for some time. If we eat excess protein, does it convert to glucose and then stored body fat? My understanding is yes. Likewise, if we eat excess fat, does it also convert to glucose and then stored body fat? Again, my understanding is yes. To my understanding - limited as it is - the…

I'm the same way; most people, especially on the Internet, I've found, don't really have the capacity or willingness to understand a different perspective than what they believe already. But finding people who can consider new ideas is fun, because then it's interesting to debate the different viewpoints. I enjoy…

A boullion cube (my favorites are beef or chicken) dropped into a 10-oz cup of hot water, letting it simmer for a few minutes, and then stirring it up until it dissolves, is one of my favorite ways to get more salt. It's like twice-strong broth, yummy, and basically just fat and salt - the perfect LCHF supplement ;)
-
Excellent - that should help a lot. Although tracking carbs is important to help in many ways - reduce appetite, avoid diabetes, improve cholesterol, and other ways - it's also (in my humble opinion) important to track CICO - calories in and calories out. So you can determine your "Calories Out" by looking up your TDEE -…

me either :)

Congratulations!!! I am in the same boat, as I went from obese to normal weight, but now I'm on the upper end of the "normal" bmi, and I'd rather get closer to the lower end of it. So I'm still trying to lose, but sometimes I get hungry and go off of my diet at random times - today for instance I got a bit hungry, so I ate…

Both approaches are valid :)

Congratulations!!! I've also lost 50 pounds, approximately, and I, like you, am so happy to have shed that weight. I've gone to Nordstroms and had the pleasure of being told that "No suit we have would fit you, Sir." And I felt similar panic, needing a suit, and fortunately they had larger ones at Men's Wearhouse. I even…

lol - after I ate more cholesterol, my cholesterol levels went from the barely-danger zone to the normal zone. Medical science is truly decades behind.
